Recap: Bulls 112, Cavs 91
2012-03-02…And it wasn’t as close as the score indicates. I have only three takeaways:
–Manny Harris played 18 minutes and looked competent (kinda maybe sort of good, even). Can we give this guy a real contract at the end of the season? He has a cool name, is athletic, and can probably be an 11th or 12th man in this league. I’m totally fine with that being the entire rationale for my Manny Harris fixation.
–There’s not really a second thing. Samardo Samuels isn’t very good, huh? I feel like we already knew that, though. Did you know the Bulls shot 50% from behind the stripe in this game? Would you be comfortable with that being the second bullet point? I’m going to move on anyway.
–Luke “Terry Banks” Harangody makes things happen when he’s on the floor. He was a plus-seven in six minutes. If we extrapolate that data, the Cavs would have won this game by 56 if he had played the entire game Wilt Chamberlain style. They’re called statistics, Byron Scott. Maybe you should examine them sometime.
The Cavs have the Wiz tomorrow; it’ll be a good opportunity to snap this losing streak. Until tomorrow, friends.
I’m juiced about Thompson’s play as of late. I’d like to see him start at the 5 as well, if only because it means more minutes. His rebounding ability is phenomenal, his defense is good and will improve and his he’s making smarter decisions offensively I think.
I feel like Manny definitely deserves some more playing time for the rest of his contract, hopefully we sign him for the rest of the season. Playing him over Anthony Parker is definitely a more worthwhile investment of time for the Cavs. Parker’s likely done after this season, or at least with us, and Manny certainly has more potential. Also, Tristan should be starting at center, imo. Semih’s been pretty awful and very foul prone. He plays okay defense, but his offense is terrible. He’ll make a decent post move and then he can’t finish. Ever. He’s got some of… Read more »
I finished watching most of the game…all but the last six minutes. When I commented earlier, I didn’t realize that Manny scored all nine of his points in garbage time. He was pretty sloppy otherwise. I’d say it was about as close as the score indicates. That was just a dismantling of a bad team by a good team. Sessions had a solid game. If he isn’t traded, how much of a foregone conclusion is it that he won’t pick up his player option for next season? TT looked strong, too. He’s raw, but the non-stop effort combined with his… Read more »
I think the Harangody part was supposed to be sarcastic.
I wouldn’t be too excited about Harangody’s +/-…He doesn’t get most of his minutes against first team opponents and I’ve seen far too many games where he misses layup after layup, only to start bricking mid range jumpers in response.
Also, I’ve only watched the first 18 minutes, but manny played solid defense on at least one possession, forcing an airball at the end of the shot clock. That was cool.
I’m not sure how Manny fits into the NBA long term, but he definitely deserves another crack at it.
I’m excited to have Manny back. 9 points on 8 shots in 18 minutes with only one turnover against the league’s best defense? I’ll take it, especially compared to watching Irving, sessions and Gibson try to co-exist on the court at the same time.
What’s the story with Kyrie? I read he was a late scratch due to an illness he picked up during all star weekend. I don’t even know what to say about that.
Also, feel better Kyrie. Please, please god feel better : /
