Coming to you live from Barclays Center in chilly downtown Brooklyn, the Cavs try to make it seven straight with a win tonight over the Brooklyn Nets. A win would mark the Cavaliers’ longest winning streak since the 2009-10 season (not a coincidence…).
During their current streak, the Cavs have been figuring a few things out. They’ve clawed their way up to 15th in the league in Defensive Rating (105.9) and are fourth in Offensive Rating (115.7). M
May the presence of the Royal Family of England at tonight’s game will inspire the Cavs to… um… well, that should be cool too right?

Although Dion must have seen this and responded by shooting the lights out tonight.
Missed all the fun and the game due to work (stupid wishcasting for a raise) I might just have to quit my job so I don’t miss any more Neon Dion games. Sounds like he finally got into a groove tonight. I also gathered that KLove wouldn’t let the team lose in the first half, that there was a Delly sighting (which must have made Cols groan) and that JAMES FREAKING JONES is good for a cool 9 points per night on sweet stroking threes.
James jones looks great. So did miller pre injury. With dion jones and miller the bench is fine. Plus delly will contribute around 2 points.
Even you have to admit that even though Delly doesn’t score, it sounds like he’s kind of the perfect compliment to Dion when he’s out there.
Anyone could do that. Stand around. Don’t drivble. Pass back to dion. Score 2 points. Try really hard on defense. Delly has the easier job in the nba.
I don’t think I could do that. Do you think you could? Will Cherry couldn’t. AJ price doesn’t. Even Joe Harris can’t. I guess we’ll see if Delly coming back coinciding with Dion having a big game is coincidence or not in the coming games…
Delly didn’t play great tonight, but he did have a few stand out plays. He stole an rebound from the Nets and kicked it out to K love for 3. (Right after hitting K Love for 3 in the flow of the offense).
He defended a 2 on 1 fast break well and the Cavs secured the rebound. He hit a floater.
He did as many bad things, but it’s good to have him back.
You missed an epic sh*t talking session between KG and Dion. Cavs were up like 20, KG is on the bench, and Dion is scoring left and right and staring KG down. Classic Dion.
Also Karasev got some garbage time minutes for the Nets, and Brendan Haywood’s corpse made an amazing left hand hook shot in garbage time.
Karazev looked a bit fat actually. Anyone else notice that?
I am so depressed I missed that! Love that Dion is actually someone who could out-shit-talk KG on the court!
I saw the Karasev posts. I thought Brooklyn had cut him recently. Guess not. Maybe he’s better when he’s fat Karasev?

Wow. If Dion plays like Dion, lots of problems get solved. Bench has some pop, Ky and LBJ don’t have to score as much. The spacing is insane.
I must say I like 22 point wins.

he’s been doing that his whole career. Like the Mutombo finger wag. If anyone else does it it’s a T.
They even started to crack down on Mutombo’s finger wags towards the end of his career though. He’d get a tech if he did it in someone’s face. He was only allowed to kind of generally do it into the air. Anyways, not really complaining. Just surprised.
Dion has an odd jab step to go from 3 pt territory to a long 2 he bricks.

That was a fun half. Love and waiters were awesome.
For a fairly high scoring game, this is pretty ugly so far.
Shouldn’t Kevin Love (career 82%) be shooting techs instead of LeBron (career 75%) ?
I knew LeBron was gonna miss that tech. It seems like most players struggle with free tech shots.
I was going to mention this the other night….I don’t get why techs don’t get defaulted first to Kyrie, then to Love and then Lebron.
The other night all 3 were on the floor and Lebron took the shot and missed.
This is one example where I think its an ego thing with him and he won’t let anyone else do this.

Not terribly into it. They’re good booing LeBron, but aside from some some school group near my press seats, there’s not much rowdiness… and a lot of empty seats. Thought LBJ/Love/Kyrie (esp after last few games) would be a bigger draw here.
Maybe threaten to trade dion for sucky big men works?!
If Dion can play like this every night, or even 80% of this, I’d rather have him than Koufos. It’s nice to have some scoring off the bench.

They’ve called it at least 3 times in recent Cavs games, twice on Lebron and once on whoever the opposition was.
I admit I don’t even know the rule or what its about and when they showed the replay. it made no sense to me because Lebron often just dribbles dribbles and dribbles some more.
Even Fred has made comments as to it being surprising why this is being called and trying to explain it but like I said, its a rule that makes no sense to me.
Feels like the Cavs obsession with hitting Varejao on the roll through the middle of paint usually ends in a turnover. And when the ball-handler drives and finds Varejao spotted at 15-18 he drains it 60% of the time.

I was about to make a joke that maybe Dion doesn’t know that points outside the arc are worth more, and then he started to play really well. Maybe he plays really well in front of royalty.

We are not trading Dion. He has a decent contract and as you saw tonight when he’s effective he can single handedly change the dynamic of a game and elevate our bench production. Waiters could be very important. Although right now he’s feast or famine we need the kind of player that can go off for 20 plus off the bench.

In case you missed it: Delly cleared to play, but on minutes restriction.
No Brooks Lopez and Joe Johnnson for the Nets but Cavs have to play the same as if they were in action and not have confort.
LeBron comes out lifeless. Blows a rebound, goes for a steal and never recovers leading to open 3, standing around on offense. Generally the Cavs are great in 1st quarters. Hopefully they turn it around here soon
