Live Thread: Cavs Vs Miami

Revenge is a dish best served in Cleveland. The last time the Cavs met the Heat was on Christmas Day in Miami, and they lost, 101-91. The Wine & Gold have been on a kill streak lately and are looking to continue revenging losses from earlier in the season. I’m sure LeBron James wants to make this a statement game and show he has no fears playing in emotional situations.
ESPN’s stats preview for the game is an interesting read if you need something to look at. This really stood out to me:
The Heat are among the slowest teams in the NBA, but they play better fast. When they play at 95 possessions per 48 minutes or faster, they have won 71 percent of their games. When they play slower than that, they have won 41 percent.
Focus on the pace because the Cavs play better when blazing down the court like a pack of Ferraris too. The Good Guys must contain Miami and keep them running a half-court set. Dwyane Wade is still out, so that should work in the Cavs favor, as Wade is still probably the Heat’s best transition ball handler. Kevin Love will be tasked with stopping Chris Bosh. Bosh had 32 points against the Knciks in a win on Monday night. If he starts heating up, I’m hoping to see LeBron check him and slot into the power forward spot for a bit.
What are your predictions? I’m picking the Cavs, 101-98.

I love the sound of that. I’ve thought since the beginning that Love is the key to this thing working. He has the trickiets assignment – not lose his post game while keeping the lane clear. He really has to choose his spots and I believe he needs to carry a lot of the second unit, although he’s not being used that way. As time goes on, he’s going to have to carry more and more of the load as LBJ ages.

I just realized how much I hate the Heat. I want them humiliated. I keep waiting to hear the national commentary about how they just couldn’t surround Lebron with enough talent and Lebron carried them and as soon as he left they suck, but no one is saying it. I hate Miami.

It was on the bring up, so don’t know if it was a “block” but it was a terrific defensive play…
Interesting. It is in the box score as a block. He stripped Whiteside at waist level just as Whiteside began to take the ball up. So I guess once you start a shooting motion it’s considered a block, no matter the altitude.
So at the moment Love has more blocks in the game than Whiteside does.

Absolutely… Jason Kidd is a heck of a coach. I think their lack of experience hurts though as these game get pressurized down the stretch.
