Live Thread: Cavs @ Heat

Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers are taking their talents to South Beach for the second time this season, though LeBron is a “maybe.” After tweaking his knee against the Magic last night, LeBron received treatment today, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if David Blatt rests him. It wouldn’t be a bad time to tune up the K-Love/Kyrie two man game, and I’m quite sure the Heat hope the King’s a scratch. Miami is currently a half game out of the playoffs behind Charlotte and tied with the suddenly hot Celtics. They’re 5-5 in their last ten, and are only hanging around because Dwyane Wade has been off the charts lately, averaging 29, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 boards with 53%/40%/82% shooting splits in his last four games.
The Heat have been seriously banged up, and have been forced to start Henry Walker (formerly Billy, formerly Bill, formerly William) at forward. Miami’s also seen Hassan Whiteside’s dark side, as a recent flagrant foul against Kelly Olynyk drew a suspension for Hassan. Still, I wouldn’t sleep on this Heat team. They’re desperately fighting to make the second season, and they’re always jonesing for a chance to punk the Cavs. D-Wade and Dragic have been Cavs killers in the past. Stopping those two and smart play by Mozzy to keep Whiteside off the O-boards and to counter his physicality will be key. I’m betting this one’s chippy. Wear your mouth guard and your scowl, Perk. Let’s go Cavs.
This is ridiculous. I don’t know how long I can take this tonight. Twists my stomach getting killed by Miami. I know it doesn’t matter that much in the scheme of things, but still leaves a sour feeling. They aren’t this good.
I mean I expected a close game but the WTH is this?

Ugh. I hate games like this. It will be a battle we don’t look willing to take on. Defense will probably have to start on the offensive side….made shots are our best defense right now
So, what would you all prefer – That we desperately fight to try to win this game, or just rest LBJ and the guys with heavy minutes and let this one go?
If you’re going to come out with no energy then request the night off like Love. Give some of the other guys play time and get embarassed.
I guess this is why the Cavs probably don’t want to play the Heat in the first round…
I would take Miami 7 days a week and twice on sundays rather than the Pacers.

He didn’t play last Wednesday. I can’t find an update on his condition.
His team advanced to the Eurocup quarterfinals. Their next game is tomorrow. We’ll see if he plays then.

They’re just killing us in the paint. I hope this game and the Orlando game shows doubters how much Love is bringing to the team. He’s done a great job defensively these last few months and his rebounding and scoring have be important as well. I hope he knows how valuable he is to this team – I hope the team tells him all the time.

He’s like what we all deluded ourselves into believe Alonzo Gee was. Good defender, athletic, and can hit threes.
I really wanted gee to succeed and times he gave us hope. Other times he seemed to be decent for 2 minutes then disappear.

Every player on the cavs that they want to keep will be vastly overpaid. They know we have no negotiating power because we’re over the tax. Our only choice is pay up or replace them with vet minimum or rookie players.

TT’s going to be a knockdown jump shooter in two more years. Greatest form improvement on a jumper I’ve ever seen.

Cavs should have given TT a max… he’s gonna do an opt out deal and make bank.
If Greg Monroe gets a max deal I bet TT will be close. Like when Alec burks from Utah got a sweet deal all wings now want loot in that range. Monroe and his deal will set the precedence.

Not really sure. Someone asked Jason Lloyd recently if he thought both love and blatt would return next year. It was from a Twitter ask a question hash tag and then the questions about timo and loves end of the game evolved

I couldn’t make heads or tails of it from the Simmons grant land piece that apparently started it. It sounded to me like love realized he was the third wheel and because of his apparent back injury he decided to take it easy. I think once it made a Twitter comment thread it died off.
