Live Thread: Cavs versus Nets
2015-03-18The Brooklyn Nets visit the Q tonight winners of two straight, but they dropped five in a row before downing Philly and Minnesota. The Nets currently sit 2.5 games out of the eighth spot in the East, and are miraculously, healthy for once. Unfortunately, Brooklyn’s dangerous when healthy, because they feature six guys who can put up double digits on any given night: Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Thaddeus Young, Deron Williams, Jarrett Jack, and Mason Plumlee. Plus Bojan Bogdanovich is a rookie who has shown a propensity to go off in games. Fortunately, the Nets are 23rd in offense and 22nd in defense, and only haven’t beaten anyone good in a while. Unfortunately, Joe Johnson has been a Cavs killer over the years, and always seems to get up to play LeBron. Fortunately, I’ve heard no chatter that anyone is sitting for the Cavs tonight. Unfortunately, the Nets are better on the road at 16-19 than they are at home (11-19). Fortunately, Cleveland is 24-9 this year at home, and they’ve won 13 straight at the Q.
MOZ-BLOCK… Iron curtain says NYET!
Lopez is really good from 18 feet… almost automatic
LBJ nails the deep three!!
Oh MY GOODNESS!!
Kyrie with the insane drive and dish.
MOZZZZZZZZ!!!! KYRIE TO MOZ EXPRESS LANE!!!
MOZSPLOSION!
im boxscore watching. I need you guys to paint some pictures for me on here.
MOZ-GOD just looking for that one!!
Love is such a good interior passer… just need to get Moz over his stone hands…
his hands are really bad. they should never throw him a bounce pass
Maybe he’s Coldhands from GOT…!?
Yes………………………
Thank you for getting that reference.
KLove’s passes to Moz are so good.
This is the best DWill has looked in a while…
Is he eligible for for scrub-fuego now? Its been a while since he’s been considered any good.
Possibly… although he does still start…
Let’s sign him to a veteran’s minimum
Kyrie with the sliding assist to Moz!
Whoa Delly is +18 in 9 minutes?
What do you mean “Whoa?” Dude sweats excellence.
Funny to see Shump and Perk jamming on the end of the bench…
Shumps hair continues to amaze.
It defies gravity…
#Samson
Jason Lloyd just popped over to my section.
Good game so far Arch! Bringing the karma!
Tell him he’s the best for us.
Anyone who doesn’t see how significant Kevin Love is to this team is completely delusional. No one can replace him. it may take more than season to optimize his usage but he is exactly what the Cavs need at power forward.
I agree. I have loved what he’s done here. I worry that he is unhappy. I hope he is enjoying himself and sees how valuable his is to this team, public narrative be damned.
We should start a show Love some love campaign. You know, to show him how much Cleveland loves watching him play here. KI and LeBron get so much of the positive attention. KLove is the only one who’s the new kid on the block. And its not like he’s anywhere near as outgoing as JR. I personally enjoy watching him play so much. Was one of my favorite college players, though I’m glad he got rid of the earring. Much better look these days.
That’s a great idea.
I would really really really love to see him just have a monster stat game, 40 points and 20 rebounds or something. Just to shut everyone up for five minutes.
Agree, agree, agree. Can’t agree enough. I hope that’s exactly how he feels.
18 assists on 22 shots will work just fine…
Yeah. That’s so important. Getting to know where to hit each other in the offense.
Nice to see the Cavs back to scoring nearly 60 per half…
Seriously. They had like 10 points about 8 minutes in, too. Wow.
That interior passing with the big men was great!
Kyrie seems to be the only one who looks to get the ball inside to KLove in the post….
Some of it is either KLove’s choices or the play calls. (Who can tell) When LeBron is out there with the ball, Kevin comes and plays PnR or fades to the weak side wing most of the time.
Very true… you watch him out there with LBJ and he really does just stick to the perimeter and wait for the ball to either pass or shoot the three…
Pretty sure I’ve never seen a post-entry pass to Love from LeBron all year. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating. But you get my point.
MOZ with the nice footwork and shot over Lopez
You know, I just realized that both Love and Moz have been sitting most fourth quarters and both Love and Moz have seemed uninspired lately. Are they related? Which one is causing the other?
As Love assist’s Moz on a basket.
Ok now I see why they are number 8.
Erin Go Bronn! indeed.
JR with the TERRIFIC defensive play! And then Kyrie to LBJ FOR THE JAM!
Where is the interior D? Getting lazy again.
Bogdanovich looks kinda like John C. Reilly…
I think LBJ prefers finding hot shooters on the floor… he really seems to relish it…
His layup just now was the first made basket this quarter inside of 18 feet.
Exactly I agree. KI has too copy that from LeBron.
JR-IDICULOUS!!!
He’s just so happy here. It’s kind of hilarious how much J.R. Smith, of all people, is happy to be in Cleveland.
Now here comes Kyrie back to torch the Nets….
JR finally missed one… damn
Don’t worry. he’s already forgotten
Is like the Nets are just focused on guarding LeBron and not paying attention to Shumpert and JR. At the other hand is great to see both JR and Shumpert contributing.
They contribute every game. Not always in points, but they have been remarkably consistent. They are simply so grateful to be out of the Knick’s dumpster fire. We should have all our guys spend a week with the Knicks.
I’ve been really impressed with JR… and I was one of the real doubters after the trade happened… Happy I was wrong
I agree and I enjoy watching LeBron looking for them at the offensive end. They need to do the same with K Love.
Delly and Moz both have played 7 minutes. Moz at -13, Delly at +18. Uhhhhhhhh.
I don’t remember who said it, but someone on CtB asked whether we though we over estimated Moz in his first few weeks because we were so starved for a true Center. I am beginning to fear that might be true.
I don’t think he’s as great as he was at first, nor is he as bad as the last few games. Maybe a minor injury. maybe he’s just moody. I’m counting on Blatt knowing how to get him in good position when it matters.
Delly provides a little spark — JR and Shump with the vroom! The engine is starting to hum.
JR is in danger mode, obviously. I love when JR is hot. His swag > everyone else’s swag
LBJ FEEDING THE SCORCHING HOT JR SWISH!!!
JR IS ON FIRE!!!
Shump really likes that spot on the floor…
JR SWISH!!! Heating up!
And that’s game over. Brooklyn won’t lead again.
That ref should be playing lol. He is like 6’8″
Cavs hustling a lot more this quarter on D…
Once they warm up they are pretty respectable on D. Must have been heavy traffic or something on the way to the arena.
Man, Jarrett Jack was a horrible signing for 6 mill a year. 3 mill a year for 3 years? I could live with. But that contract was one of Grant’s all time worsts.
Anyone know LBJ’s shooting percentage at the rim this season?
Lower than its been in a while.
That’s why I ask. It seems like he just hasn’t been himself in terms of finishing those shots. He gets in the paint as easy as always, just not finishing.
SHUMP TIES IT UP! On one of the better ball movement sequences so far!
JR Swish!! Need him to get hot…
Wonder if Bron’s wrist is bothering him… Robert mentioned he hurt it against Whiteside in the Heat game…
He should be sitting unless he’s 100%. Anything less than a fully rested 100% healthy LBJ for game 1 of the playoffs is a failure by the coaching staff.
You know, I never get the end of quarter dribble dribble hoist a three strategy. You have 24 seconds. Why not run your offense and try to get a great shot no matter how much clock is left. Maybe you get an o board, maybe you catch the defense off guard waiting for you to run out the clock. So you give the other team the last shot. Who cares who has the last shot if you don’t take a good one? Let the other team waste the clock and hoist an iso three.
I guess the prevailing theory is that if you don’t, then the other team will…
Right. The other team will take the last crappy shot. I’d rather have a good second to last shot that a crap last shot.
Although, it seems like more often than not against the Cavs, the other team does wind up hitting that crappy shot…
Man if Delly could just hit those threes at a higher rate, he might be one of my favorite players in the league….
Well, at least they came back and cut down the lead significantly…
Feed Love the ball! I love Love’s game. We have only gotten glimpses of it this season.
I agree that is one of the things the Cavs should fix before the playoffs begin. They need to make him part of the team offensively.
For real. “What’s that LeBron? You’re tired and your knee is a little sore from that nasty landing the other night? That’s cool. Just feed Kevin the ball in the post all night. You can make Kyrie bring up the ball but then pass it to you so you get the assist.”
Well, we survived our warm up quarter. Now that the guys know the game has started we’ll hopefully finish it early.
Now THAT was some better offense!
Unfortunately, it’s fortunate that it’s not unfortunate, fortunately.
Brook Lopez, please feel free to continue taking 20 footers all night.
TGFK… Thank God for Kyrie…
Seems like KI is the only one with consistent offense lately. Kid knows how to score.
At the other hand is not like the Nets have an all scrub team. They have a bunch of really good players.
They have a bunch of players. Some of them used to be good.
If you could only have one of these players for the next four years, which would it be: Lebron or Kyrie.
Kyrie. He’s my favorite. He’s been more consistent this season anyways.
Still LBJ… but it’s a lot closer of a decision than it used to be…
Given LeBron’s mileage, I’d say Kyrie. He probably has about three years left at or near his current level. After that, his age will begin to show. Hopefully, he ages gracefully, but LeBron is mortal.
Damn…I just made myself sad. =(
Rubber rim for Kyrie…
It’s like they blew their wad in Texas … Although that more likely happened in Miami.
Cavs are thinking playoffs too early.
Agreed. They’ve gotta learn how to finish the regular season before they can figure out how to make a deep playoff run.
Methinks Lebron should take another two week vacation before the playoffs start.
Not a lot of movement… nobody cutting to the basket… lots of ISO
Cavs still look a step slow like they did against the Heat…
Tough to say if that should have been continuation…
It was… He was already in his shooting motion.
Even if he wasn’t, seems like he should get that call at home…
I think we have more TOs than points.
Just about… 5 vs. 7
LeBron looks weird these past two games. Like how he played in the playoffs in 2010. Is Delonte in town?
Sloppy play so far…
Thad Young on the Nets? What is Minny doing?
Interested to see how KLove comes out after resting for 2 games.
