Finals Live Thread: Game 3 Warriors @ Cavs
2015-06-09The Cavaliers did what they had to do to snag a game at Oracle Arena, and return to Cleveland with a 1-1 split. They now have seized home court advantage in the series as they get set to face the Warriors in a pivotal Game 3 at the Q, a place where LeBron and Company have a formidable 26-2 record since the King returned from his mid-season fort-night sabbatical.
With a victory tonight, the Cavs can take a firm grasp on the momentum of this see-saw battle of a Finals, and put the favored Warriors in a tenuous position. They know it won’t be easy, however, with a Golden State team that ripped off a league-high 28 games on the road during the regular season and another five in the playoffs. They also have league MVP, Steph Curry, who will be looking to get a grip on his shooting game that went south (or in this case… “down under”) in Game 2.
Though it’s likely that Curry will shoot better than the last time out, it’s also likely that the Cavs will better their 32% shooting as well, especially in the more familiar confines of home. LeBron James and his band of gritty, “grown-ass men” also seem galvanized by getting their hands on the franchise’s first Finals win ever. They will be prepared with plenty more non-cute, unsexy, grindhouse basketball, not to mention some secret motivation that is driving Bron. And as long as he can avoid the clutches of the Warrior defenders (see above photo that Dan Gilbert used to have fun at their expense), he should once again have the Cavs right there in the end.
Time to GET LOUD CLEVELAND!
Seriously refs?! Seriously?????
MILLER!!
HOW was that NOT a foul on Curry??
Delly to TT for the ugliest lob and conversion you’ll ever see.
Ever think you’d see this lineup on the floor in the Finals? Delly, JFJ, Mike Miller, TT and JR?
No quick return for Shump. Here’s Miller. On the floor with JFJ.
JR getting a little too cute with the dribble…
JFJ Doing the little things!
Draymond gets whistled finally. He does that every time he goes out on a shooter.
Cavs a bad defensive possession there
Bron fell asleep on that Iggy dunk
JFJ!
YOU GOT A BANANA IN YOUR TAIL PIPE DRAYMOND!!!
JAMES FREAKING JONES!!
JFJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ
JFJ from deep! And one!
Nice bucket by TT
How many Cavs players have to go down before we drop this “let them play” bs in the playoffs… i get it, allow a more physical play but its having very real and very evident consiquences on the players. I don’t care how “tough” they used to be 15-20 years ago
Seriously. All those ex-player “tough guys” who need to prove they still have it are so irritating. Can’t stand the narrative that today’s game is soft because players aren’t trying to crack skulls.
Green is making me so nervous!
Canton winking Lizard representin.
Injuries are our destiny. F#@% Draymond punk b%@#$ Green.
Someone needs to pop Green.
Bring on special agent #3
I think Sean Connery is the only James Bond.
Gotta be kidding me. Draymond green
I think green knew he was going to get the swipe at him because he set the arms. Don’t know if the red had the angle either.
How many moving screens are they gonna allow Draymond Green to set? I think I count 3 so far.
Plus 2 by Bogut.
They don’t call them in the playoffs, basically, ever
Freaking Draymond
Hope Iman is okay
Hopefully just a stinger for Shump from the shoulder getting thumped on that pick.
HERE WE GO AGAIN —-INJURY —C’MON GIVE US A BREAK !!
Hit the funny bone.
Dirty effing play by Green…
Green is the new Delly.
JR with the Earl the Pearl impression.
Where was the foul?!
JR hits his first attempt.
JR SWISH!!
Bogut just holding lebrons arm on that rebound…
Where’s the FOUL???
Good scramble D after the GS offensive board. KT and Curry both tried back-door cuts and couldn’t get open.
Bogut with the FREAKING obvious HOLD!
Bogut didn’t want to be on a poster!
Oh WAH! i dont give a damn about green and the whole state of mich**** his “sore” back can shove it
LEBRON JAMES WITH NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE!!
TT very active so far on the glass…
IF THEY KEEP BARNES ON LEBRON HE WILL GET 50 TONIGHT !!—-KEEP IT GOING CAVS / FANS !!
Everybody tries to take it to Delly! Both Curry and Thompson have made poor decisions when defended by Delly!
The Delly factor once again!
good start for the good guys! havin’ fun already
Previous possession, wish they’d just run the offense when TT gets an offensive rebound instead of taking a quick 3.
I hate wanting a player on the other team to get hurt, but green is pushing me close to that line. His little forearm shiver to delly’s skull was inexcusable.
Not rooting for it, but if someone has to get injured, I’m ok with it if it’s him.
Great energy to start! I love it!
Early rage T, good sign even with close score. Looking like more of the same which is great for the Cavs
Delly floater, quick timeout for GS.
Dellava-Floata …
LET’S GO CAVS!!!
so what are they saying out west EG? Looking like a cavs victory?
Crowd chanting MVP for Delly?
Delly takes Klay to the hoop and gets the roll!
TT looking better here
Like the attacking by James early.
Surprised green isn’t jumping lol
Oh man that is classic.
My 6 asked if these boys are important because they have things in their ears.
showtime gentlemen!
So how many dollars did this cost ?
A little nervous but excited. Hopefully the Cavs can open up a big lead and get the bench some minutes. We all know how the end of the game is going down.
I think the bench is already starting
Good point!!!!!
Stay focus on defense…… Match up with their shooters in transition and play hard from the opening tip. Stay hungry!!! Let’s Go Cavs!!!!!
so who should we take in the draft R.J HUNTER / JUSTIN ANDERSON / JEFFERSON—–JUST HAVING A FLASHBACK FROM PREVIOUS YEARS ON WHAT WE WOULD NORMALLY BE DISCUSSING / BLOGGING AT THIS TIME OF YEAR —-THE ” Q ” SOUNDS LOUD AND ENERGETIC/ AT A FEVER PITCH—HOPE THEY CAN MAINTAIN FOR THE ENTIRE GAME !!!
LeBron quoted Teddy Roosevelt recently. Nate Smith went with Tennyson before the last game. I was thinking about Churchill, but here’s a military man who is always inspirational:

I am calling this Cavs batch “LeBron and the NSS” (No Stars Squad).
After watching two games, the only dubs starter I like is KT. He plays good and shows class. Curry is always posing with his “mouth guard out the mouth” look. He looks like a dork.
second the NSS.
dion did that jaw move with the mouth guard. it thought it was bad hygiene
just a short thought before we this this one in cleveland. do you think the media is pro-GS because they are healthy and somewhat a darling story. you know the curry and thompson having legacy roots, and their story is one of drafting prowess and luck. for cleveland the hurt players and lebron against the best just doesnt get clicks like it should.
Hey Chemist! Would disagree, I think the press has loved this matchup and it has been a windfall for ABC. They don’t care who wins, the NBA, ABC, and the press won when this became the finals matchup.
it seems everywhere i see on twitter it is so pro warriors. glad you disagree because it tells me my feed is biased

I should say that I think you’re right on about the GSW angle as to why it’s such a good story. I just think that the pro-Cavs angle has been that if the Cavs win, it cements LBJ’s legacy BIG TIME…. and I’ve heard more than one pundit suggest as much.
Also, I’ve heard some suggest that if the Cavs pull it off, it would be one of the biggest stories in sports history.
yeah the questions about does lebron need help would be put to rest. he had help. they got hurt. he took the team to next level with moxie. if i was in his “camp” i would look to more business relationships (gates foundation, elon musk projects, or like akon and energy) and possibly doing what muhammad ali did for our parents generation. i have no clue when he would fit it into his schedule but it would be the next step in my opinion
I’m pretty sure what you’re saying re: business is exactly what LBJ had in mind when he talked about his responsibility to the community in his letter last year.
I agree… I think another storyline for the Cavs has been the midseason trades for Moz, JR, and Shump. It was a home run trade that the Cavs couldn’t execute during LBJ’s first Cavs stint. I’ve heard the storyline that Griffin accomplished what other Cleveland GMs couldn’t in the past.
do you think it was because griffin had an established relationship with Knicks and nuggets that iced the deal? to me the dion to OKC was brilliant.
I think the Knicks’ trade had more to do with their desperation to get rid of JR and his contract, as well as Shump not being a 3pt assassin. I assume GMs all over the league have personal relationships with each other given the exclusive nature of the job, obviously some more than others… but you know what I’m saying?
Agreed, I love Dion and thought it was a bad trade… but it not only got rid of a player that wasn’t with the team program, but Mozerati has been worth every bit of those 2 first rounders.
I think the Warriors are popular because they won a ton of games, they like to play uptempo, Curry is exciting and has had a freakish season, and Kerr is a former media guy, and seems well liked. For Cleveland, it’s Lebron, and everyone has seen that show before. Might be a different story if the Cavs came in with a healthy Love and Irving, but Lebron is going to have his fans and detractors no matter what.
I fear Curry will have a big game. He missed quite a few shots in game two that are very makeable for him. He was also getting, I wouldn’t say criticized, but questioned by the media after game two, probably like he hasn’t all season. If he does have a big game, I hope Klay has one of his bricklaying games. Hope Moz has another big game. And hey refs, please call handchecking. It’s a foul.
Oh, and Draymond? Douche.
I totally agree with you, just wanted to add. if curry goes hot and other warriors players cold, Cavs win this games. Curry is not James.
Hello CtB…. just wanted to publish the scoop on the Vegas info…. GSW is favored by 2, with the o/u @ 194.5… Smart money is on the Cavs and the under. GSW has seen the most action, but as we near game time there’s some late action on CLE. I predict a 99-94 victory for the Cavs. Thoughts on the game: I think Curry is going to go to the paint to get easy shots or create offense for his teammates. I think this plays into Cleveland’s hands as they will funnel him to TT/Mozerati and force others to hit… Read more »
Clarification, Shump and Delly need to be more aggressive, but they do not need to shoot 20 times…. only JR. Sorry for the confusion!
I am so PUMPED!
right there with you my friend. when i read this to my 6 and 4 year olds the 6 asked if “mr joey likes kangeroos because his name suggests it”?
NBATV guys chatting with Mark Price…
