Live Thread: Cavs vs. 76ers (Pre-Season)
2015-10-08The Commadore 64 that produces the NBA schedule assigned the Cavs a preseason back-to-back to start the 2015-16 campaign. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Timofey Mozgov are sitting the meaningless contest out. Anderson Varejao is a game time decision, but they should probably give him the night off as well. The 76ers are still in their scorched Earth phase, but should be able to trounce the Cavs zoo crew. Let’s sacrifice two hours of our youth together watching who pulls ahead in the race for the 15th roster spot.
If you’d rather watch Timofey Mozgov’s new Sky Zone commercial on a loop instead of the game, I wouldn’t hold it against you at all. I went to a Sky Zone in LA a year ago on a date, and had an absolute ball and a biscuit. I highly recommend it for a child’s birthday party. My only complaint about Sky Zone is that it lacks the terrifying animatronics of Chuck E. Cheese’s, and they don’t sell beer. Maybe I’m a weirdo, but I like a subtle element of fear and alcohol at social functions. Heck, Chuck E. Cheese’s founder Nolan Bushnell looks like he could have been a casting shoo-in to play General Zaroff in an adaption of “The Most Dangerous Game.”
and now DJ lighting it up after I said he sucks at basketball.
DJ with a three!
Where did Griff find these guys? Could be the garbage time version of the Herculoids during the season! Blitz teams through the first three quarters, then devastate them with wiry overachieving bench warmers.
It might only work against the sixers.
Allah Abdelnaby is not good at selfies…
DJ with a Delly Trey!
@Mike_CTBIPL At some point you're splitting hairs but I think the skill he provides in terms of outside shooting is most important.— Kevin Pelton(@kpelton) October 8, 2015
OPIE CUNNINGHAM! OPIE CUNNINGHAM!
Trajan Langdon being interviewed by Fred.
That DJ turnover was like an improv sketch…
Stephens should try out for the us olympic team
AGREE THIS MIGHT BE HIS ” STATEMENT ” GAME TO MAKE THE TEAM / LOVE HIS AGGRESSIVE PLAY—–GO TO NBA.COM CHECK OUT MOZ’S NEW COMMERCIAL —CLASSIC MOZ
It’s also embedded above.
Smokin Joe finally hit one!
@DerekBodnerNBA: Allen Iverson is at the game, currently being interviewed. LeBron watching and clapping for him. #sixers
Guess that means the Cavs are signing AI, then.
That sequence did not look like basketball,,,,,
Cunningham really gets good defensive positioning most of the time…
What a cut by Cunningham, great off the ball
Cunningham looks good.
Hey Stephens is out there now!
Andy is just a cup full’a sunshine
That makes me think of my pee after I take a multivitamin
Hello gentlemen, not watching the game, but monitoring the thread…. just had to say, 31 points??? Holy offense!
What is more likely this season: A Sacramento player punches Karl, or Brett Brown punches Hinkie?
Brown just needs to Trust the Process.
In either case… straightjackets available on sidelines…
I know it’s the Sixers… but AV looks like a man among boys out there!
He hasn’t playd since December. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
Guys these comments are hilarious tonight, ohh man
ANDY!
Andy’s jumper at the top of the key is as money as it gets.
Cunningham with a dominate 30 seconds – 3 points, 1 assist, two drawn fouls.
Andy and Jared playing really well
The Wildthing show!
Andy lookin sharp. Tristan who?
Richie Cunningham!!
It’s got to be down to Cook, Cunningham, and Daye.
Cunningham and one !
Cunningham throwing his body out there. What happened to Stephens? Anyone know?
My understanding is that he sucks at basketball.
Well duh that’s why he’s in the NBA or at least trying out.
Would like to see these young guys look for their shots more…
I feel about Joe Harris the way Cols feels about Delly.
Unrequited love?
Wow… that’s pretty strong stuff…
Brett Brown looks like he will lose his mind
He is the most sympathetic figure in sports.
Andy doing his thing under the hoop…
Our practice sqaud is really struggling tonight
Gotta hit your free throws, kid…
Joe Harris should change his first name to Harry.
Furkan!!!
@kpelton: I for one am enjoying Point Anderson Varejao.
This Cavs lineup is also trying out for the Sixers.
Nice move by AV!
Great inside move for score from Andy!
Really good to see Andy out there.
Now sit him. I believe AV has a finite amount of minutes in him. Let’s not waste any of them.
He hasn’t missed a beat on offense. Defensively he’s been a step too slow.
That was a nice Delly Trey! I wish these Cavs Emojis could be used in other areas, besides just texting.
People seem to be able to use them on Twitter also… but I’m not sure how…
The only way I know how is by taking a picture of it.
JFJ OWNING Sampson… Delly trey!!
Sasha looks great.
Great backdoor cut by Delly and pass by Kaun…
Really impressed by him thus far.
I love it when plays like to make calls, especially when they like to call “travel”
RJ looking smooth tonight…
Remember when Dion was supposed to start for the Cavs right before his hometown then we pulled him and traded him? That was such a Dion moment.
@DerekBodnerNBA: If you give Okafor two dribbles in the post and don’t body him up, he’s going to score. That was too easy.
COWN!!!!!!!! No
Didn’t mean to type “no”
Sampson went to SVSM.
These Sixers announcers must have to take lots of Paxil to make it through these broadcasts…
Mo’s going for 53 tonight.
He’d have to change his number…
Was that RJ who hit the three? I missed it…
Andy should play 5 minutes and no more tonight.
Get to see some heavy 15th spot rotation tonight.
I can’t wait to watch Furkan Aldemir…
Is he related to Anal Valloy?
Wow… this could get ugly…
“The team reported that LeBron James, J.R. Smith, and Timofey Mozgov will not be playing in tonight’s game. According to Coach David Blatt, the starting lineup will then feature Mo Williams, Matthew Dellavedova, Richard Jefferson, James Jones and, most likely, Anderson Varejao.”
It’s gonna be a rough watch dude.
At least with all our starters missing the game might be competitive.
No excuses. Let’s win!
Win it for us Joe Harris.
I was a big Sixer fan in ’69 when they won 9 games. Freddie “mad dog” Carter was their scorer … Along with a Maurice Speights type center named Bob Rule. That was like two years after Wilt Chamberlain left. Seems like they’re trying to draft another Wilt.
I totally wish I was alive in the 60s.
Yeah. I know. Right.
The Mets (Seaver & Nolan Ryan), Knicks (Frazier, Reed,Bill Bradley) and Jets (Namath) all won Championships and man first walked on the moon. Twelve years later we started putting little wheels on luggage.
The Browns actually won the championship, the year before the Superbowl started.
And the music was great. The first show I can remember was in 10th grade, me and some pals passed for 18 and got into a club (maybe in Garfield Hts?) and saw The Shangra-las, with both pairs of sisters. A year or so later, the Stones in Music Hall, and the year after that, the Stones in the Arena (home of the Cleveland Pipers) and the Beatles in the old stadium. They don’t make ’em like that anymore.
It was a decade where music was transformed into stuff that had never existed before. I was more into the “Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin.” (Not a spell check error). I consider that the first “funk” song ever.
I’m in Philly tonight, but won’t be able to make the game. Or even watch it on tv. And it might even be Ramen for dinner.
Stuck in traffic. This isn’t Norwalk, toto.
I bet it’s on local radio though…
Ramen and Cavs! Yeah!
Yum!
You’re a nut. (No picture of a nut necessary.)
And what the hell is that song underneath it? It’s like a worm in my brain now…
Also, subtitling Moz takes away a bit of the mystique…
That Moz Splashzone commercial is awesome, although I wish they would have let him tear the rim down Shaq-style…
I’d be OK if the NBA got rid of presesason basketball.
I’d be okay if the NBA got rid of the 76ers.
And for my next trick…
#trusttheprocess #winningislosinglol
FYI: Do not do Skyzone after Brew Garden.
Or it turns into Splashzone…
