Live Thread: Cavs @ Heat
2017-03-04LeBron James, Kyrie Irving will not play tonight vs Heat. They scored or assisted on 117 of the Cavaliers’ 135 points (87 percent) Friday
— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) March 4, 2017
Revenge games for Dion, Derrick Williams, and James Jones tonight, while the Cavs rest Kyrie and the King. We all know the Cavs record when LeBron sits (0-4) this year. And we know the record two of LeBrotherhood sit (lowdigit-highdigit), and when all three sit (0-infinity). I’m betting Lue limits the minutes for Tristan Thompson and his tendinitis too. But this is a new look Cavs bench could give the Heat a run for their money (and drive gamblers crazy).
Here’s the Cavs’ probable starters.
#Cavs lineup vs. Heat: Deron Williams, James Jones, Iman Shumpert, Kyle Korver, Tristan Thompson

@MiamiHEAT same starters vs Cavs: @Goran_Dragic @dionwaiters3 Rodney McGruder, Luke Babbitt & @youngwhiteside

For Miami, Willie Reed is officially off the injury report, but Josh McRoberts is out indefinitely and Justice Winslow is out for the year.
Dion Waiters and the Heat were hot before the break, but are just 6-4 in their last three and Dion dropped a whopping three points against the Magic Wednesday. We’ll see if Cleveland lets anyone go Scrub Fuego tonight.
Let’s hope that coach Lue limits Felder’s run if he’s struggling and that he takes the following advice.
That should be a goaltend…
Lie doesn’t want Deron to play heavy minutes tonight…watch him log 42…
Was that a subconscious mistake?
Haha…I guess so…
Glass is 13-7 Heat.
Gonna be hard to win that battle without LBJ, KLove
Get the rock Frye! When we finally get a stop, we fail on the glass.
Nice drive by Lig!
Gotta get that rebound… no excuse…
Frye watches too many loose balls
I’ve noticed that too.
Super lazy on that rebound…
Somebody grab the damned rebound
Is Tyler Johnson missing a front tooth?
Liggs to RJ!
Great give and go with Lig and RJ!
RJ! Man, pleasantly surpirsed with the O (35 pts on 67%). Still tied ’cause our D is just awful. 35 pts on 54% (75% 3s) from them.
Cavs with 7 assists and shooting 67% (60% from three)… probably won’t last, so going to have to make some stops…
Yeah…no need to worry our average ppg will go down with Lebron and Kyrie out. Hope we can squeak out a win 141-140
The J in RJ is for Jumper.
Nice offense all things considered. Good ball movement.
On pace for last night’s totals…
Poor play from Liggins there.
RJ!!!
Pleaseligstopdribbling
Lig shoulda pulled that back…
We need a friggin stop. That’s an awful call. They run into each other, foul on us.
Wonder if the Anderson’s had to go to NBA. Com to get tickets to this Big Three deprived game?
What? He ran into his own guy…
Frye for TT. Liggs, Shump, D-Will, RJ, Frye.
Shump got his drive game going tonight!
High scoring first quarter considering…
I still think they’ll be okay… here comes CFrye…
RJ for Korver. Shump with a good drive!
So this is the Johnsons vs. the Williams game?
Liggins!
Liggs, Shump, Korver, D-Will (enchilada), TT.
Enchilada drawing some contact…
Cavs on pace for over 1k made threes this season…
They just showed the shot chart for the threes last night… incredible
When Deron & Korver sit, this is gonna get challenging.
Anyone even see Frye on the bench? Tuned in late
JFJ out. DWill (enchilada) in.

This is a lot of fun so far… I’m sure they’re catching Heat off-guard initially, so expect a regression to the mean, but still fun to watch what the new guys can do together and get some chemistry going…
Good start. D-Will1 can run an offense. He’s a quality offensive player.
How was that on the floor?
Bizarro World. Shump hit a shot after dribbling around the world
It’s not as hard since the world is flat… /s
Nice
So I guess Frye is out too? Or maybe just coming off the bench?
The Shump/DWill backcourt is humming right now!
Kind of like the danger of the JFJ/KK perimeter game…
Nice movement that time…
Shump just executed the ol’ Delly flob play…
Good fake from Shump to draw a foul with a short clock.
James Stealing Jones…
Bail out foul by St. Weirdo…
Yeesh. Make them make shots. Good to see Shump hit early. We’ll need him this game.
That was a lot of dribbling by DWill2…
TT can exploit Whiteside I believe…
I think Whiteside just traveled and couldn’t believe they didn’t call him for it…
Watch this be the night Shump gets his shot back… lol
The Pelicans team that beat us without the Brow maybe had just a bit more talent than the team we have tonight. Maybe we can do to the Heat what the Pels did to us. But I wouldn’t bet on it
This seems crazy. FiveThirtyEight’s chances of winning the title: Warriors 49%, Spurs 20%, Cavs 8%.
Just the fact that the Cavs have an easier path to the Finals than any team in the West should make their % higher.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2017-nba-predictions/?ex_cid=538twitter
But then Nate Silver predicted a big win for Hillary..,.,so we have that going for us
He had Trump a lot higher than most (mid 30%s, IIRC).
Yep, he has the highest probability of winning. Nailed every state I think in 2012
“Had”
That really is nuts, for the reason you state. If all teams are healthy, Id give the Cavs maybe 20%…maybe less, but somewhere in that neighborhood…
Allie rocking the biker jacket tonight…
I think I’ve been so ‘fortunate’ as to see every Lebron-less game the last two seasons….once more into the breach…
I know it was academic, but it’s great to see DWill1 signed for the rest of the season…
Now THIS would be exciting…

Would rather some incentive to actually compete to win eg baseball’s winner getting home field in the world series. All star game has become a joke. No defense at all now. At least in the 80s and 90s they at least tried to stay in front of their guys.
Yeah. The ASG is a joke now. If no one tries at all, they should just get rid of it. I haven’t watched since Kyrie’s 1st.
I think that’s kind of the point though… they know they’re never going to make it competitive again, so it’s either cancel it, or turn it into a more interesting circus…
I’m afraid there’s no fixing it. Baseball has dropped the home-field carrot.
All-star games have outlived their usefulness, but they go on in zombie form because of the money involved.
Didn’t know the home field in baseball was dropped. Yeah, these guys are all too good of friends to really go at each other in exhibition games. I am sure they worry bout injury too, guess I can’t blame them for that.
Yeah, that will fix the ASG for certian.
We’ve lost 11 in a row in Miami.
How many of those were when LBJ was still there?
Gin+ginger beer+lime doesn’t suck.
DPass and DSmash certainly helps this lineup.
Slightly smaller pre-game huddle…

Kind of excited to see what the guys can do… I’m certainly more confident they can still be competitive with Deron running things…
Well, that dampers my enthusiasm a tad. So, Deron (1st Cavs start), Shump, Korver (1st Cavs start), JFJ, TT. Reserves: Liggins, Derrick, RJ, Frye. A touch of Felder if we need him. 5 men out: Ky, James, JR, Love + Andrew.
