After a muddy March the Cavs (51-27) have collected themselves and won four straight with their magic number to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference down to two. The Hawks (40-38) currently are in fifth place in the conference standings, but have dropped seven of their past 10 games as Paul Millsap missed eight of those tilts while dealing with left knee inflammation. Atlanta is just a game and a half ahead of the eighth place Pacers, and they factor to fall tonight as Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer is holding out Millsap, Dwight Howard, Thabo Sefolosha, and Kent Bazemore. Dennis Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr. are both listed as doubtful aswell.

Tristan Thompson’s 447 consecutive games played streak came to an end two nights ago as he missed the the Cavs bludgeoning of the Celtics. Thompson was scheduled to sit this contest as well earlier in the week as he’s nursing a slightly torn ligament in his thumb. With the Cavs magic number presumably dropping to one tonight, I’d anticipate that he’ll rest until the playoffs start in eight days. If anyone needs a breather, it’s Canadian Bacon after manning the center position solo for the majority of the season.
The action will be on Fox Sports Ohio at 7:30.

Not sure about that. We’ve had some pretty embarrassing losses. Portland after the Warriors Christmas massacre comes to mind.

This is game where Lue should go deeper. Lazy play. Send a message. Sit some guys for a minute or two & put Liggins and/or Derrick in. I get not wanting to play them large minutes to get the other guys to play together more. However, that is wasted if they are in chill mode.

Six bench pts. As I recall when Derrick was getting consistent minutes, he was putting up 7-10 pts fairly consistently and ran the floor quite well
First half thoughts. Shump has obviously found a way to bypass the NBA’s drug tests. He appears to have destroyed whatever brain cells he once had with gregorious amounts of cannabis or bath salts. D Will needs to lay off the Doritos and Jefferson should backcut more when his shot is ice cold.

Played the Hawks D League to an almost draw, and James played 20 minutes too. We will win but the team should be embarrassed by this half. Derrick just has to get mins in this game instead of Shumpert
I would be surprised by neither going 16-0 in the playoffs or losing in the second round. This team is insane.
I don’t understand why Derrick isn’t playing… Does Jefferson really need to be out there? He’s a vet, he knows what to do and will be able to do it when called in the playoffs. Why aren’t the younger guys playing this meaningless game?
1. We have to clinch first. The Heat game is b2b & away & the Raps game could get tricky. We want to win the next two vs. ATL & then the guys will rest.
2. Lue doesn’t rate Derrick in our top 10: James, Ky, Love, JR, TT + Deron, Shump, Korver, RJ, + Frye. He’s concentrating on getting those top 10 guys to get some familiarity with each other. Derrick looks like #11.

Yep. Magic # at two. Should get 1 this game. Game at ATL will be tougher as they’ll all have a lot of rest. Hopefully we will as well. TCB early today & get some rest. Plus, get Sanders, Derrick, Liggs, & Deron some extended run. Those guys aren’t likely to play heavy minutes come PO time, they could do some good stuff in short spurts. Would like to see them get some extended run today.
