Live Thread: Cavs @ Pistons (#Bandages)
2017-11-20The Cavs head back out on the road again tonight to the Motor City after a quick pit stop last Friday at home in an overtime thriller against the Clippers. They’re down yet another rotation piece with Iman Shumpert now set to miss about a week with a sore knee. However, LeBron maintains that the team has enough healthy members to keep things going…
“It’s good to know that we have depth,” James said after today’s shootaround. “It’s very difficult and it’s very challenging not only on the guys that’s on the court but on the coaching staff, trying to figure out. Sometimes you get a rhythm and then another guy goes down, so, that’s what we’re here for. We have the depth to be able to try to bandage it up until we can all become full.”
Let’s hope he’s right about that. Who knows, maybe Coach Lue will even let newcomers Cedi Osman and John Holland (just called up from the Charge to swap seats with Ante Zizic) assist with the triage. They’ll most likely need something if interim starting PG Jose Calderon makes a mess of the first quarter. Still, the Cavs have managed to win four in a row and five of their last six even with the dwindling numbers of able bodies lost to the MASH unit. They’ve also been better on the road (5-3) than at home (4-4) and seem to get up for tougher opponents. The Pistons are a surprising 11-5 on the year, although they are playing on the second night of a back-to-back following a tight victory over the Timberwolves.
I haven’t made a prediction to date this year, but I’ll go out on a limb here and say the Cavs dig deep into their first aid kit and patch together an impressive win over the tired Pistons tonight… 112-108.
Catch all the action on FSO starting at 7pm EST, and don’t forget to share your views here on the live thread…
GO CAVS!
Only 4 TOs. We had two quick ones trying to force to a cutter from way out front. Then nada until the 2 in a row out of bounds.
Pistons are weird team…think they need real playmaker to fit with rest of pieces…Reggie doing little to lift team and Drummond is useless
do you think this is a statement game to the pistons / rest of the nba / to a ” negative nomad “
Team is just executing very well…guys stepping up and know situation with bevy of injuries
16 1st half assists —has to be a season high —love the bodies / ball moving—–A.C. has to be in heaven
Only 4 turnovers for the Cavs… that’s helpful
Half of them were stepping out of bounds
Does this mean the season is starting now?
No real run for Cedi yet… but if the blowout continues there will be opportunity…
we want cedi —-free cedi—-haven’t had this much fun on ctb in a long time—-told you I was all about POSITIVE VIBES TONIGHT —- keep this up I might come out of retirement and go back to OLD NOMAD
holy crap!
Best half of the season. Offensively & defensively. Yes Detroit is on a b2b, but it is at home.
Credit to Jose for being able to bring some defensive pressure from the PG spot…
Finally, for once a blow out the Cavs currently are on the right side of.
the ” ymca ” is open
Every Cav but Cedi and Holland have scored…
Hopefully they’ll get loads of minutes second half.
Cavs are greatest team of all time
Well… this gets my vote for best first half of the season…
Hmmm…no Shump…Calderon all of a sudden looks useful? I’ll give it to him he’s hustled and moved the ball
SWISH!
I think we’ve got to do away with Back to Backs, especially when they involve travel for the B2B team. The evidence that it affects both play and likelihood of injury is overwhelming.
I think Jae got fouled about four times that trip…
Some of this is obviously the Pistons on the second half of a tough back to back… but much of it is just on the Cavs actually playing like they care…
Calderon with a jumper & the classic old guy move.

I can appreciate how much Calderon tries on D…
The Hedgehog is ANGRY!
3 on Drummond. Bron draws the charge.
Love is killing them. We are killing them.
I like how they’re attacking!
Bron settled that last time. Attack Drummond.
Defense is hustling for the most part…
Even this unit has 2 shooters(Frye & Korver) along with James & Green.
I will say this, of the 4 guys who are hurt, 3 are poor shooters.
Well this is a nice change damn
Drummond is useless I don’t think Jackson has scored…cavs just cruising along…lebron had 8 min rest
We have had at least 2, if not 3 shooters out there all game.
Starters = 3 or 4. Calderon, JR, Love. Plus Bron when he is on. Crowder hit one.
1st subs= 3. Love, Korver, Frye.
2ndQ =3. Korver, JR, Frye.
Spacing is back.
Lot of stepping out of bounds…
Semi-banana-in-tailpipe…
Lot of rest for Bron…
Vintage Wade!
Would be a good time to get cedi in there.
maybe LeBron wants that single game record ( he and ky are tied with 57 ) all to himself —all in for that
Cut-zus!
Love that ball movement!
No return of the Jedi yet tho…
don’t want to jinx us (this game is far from over ) but could this be the ‘jump start—confidence ” game we have been waiting for
Looks like Cavs are taking advantage this game so far…
Sorry guys… just catching up. Had to take my daughter to the dentist…
Double Deep Frye! Cavs up 18.
Best we have looked all year.
Lue is a genius!
Guys like Frye and Korver are vital to the Cavs offense…
I think cavs are alright guys ?
best 15 minutes of the entire season—–maybe if we keep it up –we will have a COLS sighting
2nd Q: Wade, JR, Korver, Green, Frye.
Cavs with hot start need to keep it strong…usually second qtrs they let up
Green playing the 3 with this group. 3 shooters.
Wade, Korver, Love, Frye & Green.
Cavs looking good.
a good start ( finally ) —needed that—-don’t let up
Lebron! Cavs actually playing pretty hard for 8 minutes!
Wade for Calderon. Bron’s J is wet.
This smells like 45-50 point game from lebron
If that jumper stays wet, or they come up on him, yep.
I would love to see him go for 58.
The D was a lot better in half court. In passing lanes. Deflections.
Bron on fire!
Have they missed a 3 yet?
Aside from missing two bunnie & 2 TOs the O looks good. Calderon is doing fine.
Surprised lebron didn’t dunk that last one
3 years ago he would have.
Bradley shooting lights out from 3…cavs missed two bunnies
Steals on first two Det trips.
Gonna have to play together on defense. Rotate well. Gang rebound. Put a body on someone.
Move the ball & attack the rack on offense.
after being on a recent ” negative binge “—going all out for my inner colsian positive vibes tonight —–LeBron is the greatest/ we will be in the nba finals and defeat the dubs / we will beat the pistons by 20 + tonight —Drummond will foul out with single digit pts / reb’s / we will have a cedi sighting and he will have a very productive night whIch will allow for more appearances go forward —GO CAVS —” ALL IN-THE LAND “
It would be the perfect time to put Cedi Osman and John Holland in for some major minutes.
