Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls (#NoWhammies)
2017-12-04The Cavs find themselves in the Windy City tonight to try their luck at extending their winning streak to 12 against the struggling and Unrecogniza-Bulls. After dispatching the Grizzlies and their junked up gameplan with some late game heroics from LeBron James, Cleveland faces what should be an even less daunting task of beating the should-be-tanking Bulls. Yet, Chicago certainly has the bigs (Lauri Markkanen, Robin Lopez and Bobby Portis) to try replicating the unorthodox strategy both Memphis and Atlanta employed in the last two games to make them closer than expected.
The Bulls don’t yet have resident Cav killer, Nikola Mirotic, or Zach LaVine back, but two of their three wins on the season have come at home, and they did give the Cavs about all they could handle a little over a month ago in a 119-112 loss to the wine & gold. Cleveland had no answer for the speedy Justin Holiday back then… or for former teammate Kay Felder if we’re being honest. And, they might have to once again rely on LeBron to defend the opposing PG to avoid getting a whammy put on their win streak.
In an unrelated, but sort of related in a different way, development… former Bull and Chicago native son, Derrick Rose, has rejoined the Cavs after a couple weeks of uncertainty about his future. He’s not with the team though, ironically, since he’s back in Cleveland continuing his rehabilitation of his cranky ankle.
Prediction: The Cavs push their luck and go for “Big Bucks! Big Bucks! And No Whammies!” as they win the game 121-106 to push the streak to a dozen.
Catch all the action on FSO starting at 8pm EST… and don’t forget to chime in here…
GO CAVS! NO WHAMMIES!
Kay Felder on the board…
24 vintage points for Wade…
Bench crew plz…no need to risk injuries…as fun as it is to watch Lebron drain it from his formerly terrible right wing
Lebron done after 34 minutes…here comes Cedi…
Wade must be enjoying sticking it to the Bulls…
Wiz down 29 to Jazz in 2nd qtr…mercy…
Wade-a-hoga County!
Vintage Wade.
He’s hitting threes at a pretty reasonable rate over the past 5 or 6 games. He seems like a guy who could do that if he really focused on it for a month or two.
He’s streaky with the three, but at this point, I think his three % is what it is…
He could develop it over a summer.
Chano courtside! Nice.
Pretty bad execution there to end 3rd…Cavs don’t get a shot off as clock expires, then Bulls get a Holliday fourty footer at the buzzer…
Bron’s night better be done
This Bulls team is horrendous!
Really really hard to watch
LIke to see the Jedi get some run.
Surprised he’s not been in yet…
Nobody attempts more 23-foot 8-inch two-pointers than Crowder.
Dion used to, but he’s better now…
True true. I feel like Jae’s are mistakes though. Dion just didn’t care where he was.
Bad news: Nets now hammering the Hawks.
Good news: the teams around them are faring well. Suns won in Philly. Hornets up 10 late. Mavs up huge. Memphis winning.
Bonus: NO up on GSW without Davis.
Love in a really good spot in terms of the shooting stroke. Could be Cedi/ Zizic time in the 4th.
Tough three by Love for a 24 point lead…
Gotta run… enjoy the second half guys!
Cavs toying with them… need to come out and choke them out to start the second half…
Pretty good half against a garbage team…just step on their necks in the 3rd…
Wow… that Markkanen dunk fail was way worse than the LBJ dunk fail…
Hawks had the lead on Brooklyn. Scoreless for 5 min+ to start the 3rd. Miss dunk fest.
Lol…some real rim music…
Refs want to go home I guess?
So Brooke and Robin Lopez want to create their own cartoon? Makes sense.
Man…Hoiberg has the easiest check or the worst gig in the NBA right now, depending on how you look at it
Easy money. He’s likely out of the NBA when contract is up, but meanwhile, 5 mill per…
Nice look from Korver to Green…
Bron is getting real good with that left handed finish.
Good hustle from Green.
Poor patch here. Heat check fadeaway & Wade 3. 7-0 run.
Green the Machine…
Man, the Bulls are copying the Sixers big time. There are maybe 2 or 3 NBA players on that team. And those are bench players on any team trying to win. Horrible roster.
The Bulls have an incompetent front office, though…
Seriously, I did/do share Scotch’s concerns with Green. Aside from garbage time & a couple games early, he has stayed in his lane. Easy to do with his unit: Korver & Frye are way better shooters. Wade a better creator. JR is a better shooter if he is out there. James both.
Just something about this second unit…
DWade is sixth man of the year so far. Quantum leap in beach productivity when he joined the unit…..and compared to last year
Grimlock score basketball good.
Dinobots crush the 2nd units of crap teams. I really want to see if they can tread water against elite benches. They are smart and skilled enough to hang with anyone, but they lack quickness. Can they keep up with Livingston and the Warriors bench?
LMAO. Michigan loses to basketball Buckeyes after being up by 20+ in first half. Just. Like. Football.
Vintage Wade!
Good to see Channing out there…
Don’t know how you play basketball with a dislocated finger two days ago.
Dinobots with James to start the 2nd.
Green so solid and quick to the rim
Dinobots!!
29-16 after the 0-6 start. Good recovery.
Awful hustle from everyone on that Calderon play. Lue rightly called a TO.
Wonder if 22 pts is a first quarter low for an opponent. Bullls are the Bulls but still nice
Cavs look sorta tired already. Playing lazy on d a lot. Good quarter for the most part. Having a bench changes literally everything about my emotions watching them play. No stress
Strong finish to the quarter…
Green has been mostly good this year…but I’m waiting for him to turn pumpkin…
Nah. The shoe fits.
Honestly guys?! CALDERON just defended two straight layups and nobody races back to help?!
Crowder with another! Nice Jose hustle.
Crowder hit one!
Bron sits early. Love hot early.
Awful D there. Calderon has to stay w Lopez.
Lopez does have like 10 inches on him… and there was no need to foul him too…
Oh Jose…
each game brings more “crowder concern “—not the player we anticipated when the trade was made—hoping improvement (consistent ) will come soon
You should call guys out more often… (hits back to back threes after you posted this)
The one he threw away. I mean.
At least Crowder played some decent D then had the pass to LeBron. Not a play a confident guy makes on that pass.
Crowder with two ugly turnovers already. And a bricked three. Obviously has no confidence in his shot. Maybe he needs IT on the floor to inspire him
Bulls 9… LeBron 7…
Ugh…shoot that, Crowder…
crowder —geez —GO CAVS
Quick, get the bench in!
Well, this is an ugly start…
Again. Go to the rim more. Missed that one. One bucket in 5 minutes. Silly play from Crowder. Shoot that.
I hate it when we come out hunting threes. Go to the basket. Passivity contributes to slow starts. They get 3 layups. We miss two threes.
Another big night in the Nets’ neighborhood, record-wise.
3 = Bulls (Cavs)
5 = Hawks (Nets)
6 = Mavs (Nuggets)
7 = Kings, Grizz (T’Wolves)
8 = Suns (at 76ers), LAL, LAC, Nets (at Hawks), Hornets (Magic).
I like your score prediction I am thinking (hoping ) you are going to be darn close —–was thinking the same (about drose )—-bull aren’t going anywhere (but down ) this year might as well have drose back in town–let him do his thing —play his style and draw some fans in
Markkanen has been up and down, but I expect him to emit flames tonight.
I really think Rose should retire a Bull. And since the Cavs are in town, what better time to get the retirement tour started? Corby and GarPax should make this happen tonight – get NBA legend Derrick Rose back in Chi-Town!
