Live Thread: Cavs vs. Wizards (#LueAgain)
2018-04-05With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers welcome back Head Coach Tyronn Lue after a nine game absence for health reasons. The team went 8-1 under interim Coach Larry Drew, but it has been reported that he was following the script laid out by Lue before he left. Ty has also been present for practices and shoot-arounds here and there over the past week.
Now that they have their coach back, all the Cavs are missing are their point guards. George Hill is still out with an ankle sprain, and now Jose Calderon will miss at least tonight’s game with some hamstring soreness. In response, Lue is inserting rookie Cedi Osman into the starting lineup. He’s also keeping Jeff Green as a starter, which will apparently be the case from here on out… even into the post-season.
Tyronn Lue says Cedi Osman will start tonight with Hill and Calderon out (meaning LeBron James will have plenty of ball handling duties vs WAS). He also said he plans to go with a starting front court of LeBron, Kevin Love and Jeff Green when the playoffs open up.

Obviously, there will be some dissenting views on whether or not this is a good idea. However, the Cavs are still 7-3 when Green starts, and he does have a knack for guarding star players well (i.e. DeMar DeRozan twice recently). Still, I hope Green starting does not mean he has a green light to shoot more threes…
The Wizards are struggling mightily, having lost six of their last eight games to fall to the 7th seed (if the playoffs started today). They did get John Wall back three games ago, yet they lost the last two contests, with Wall shooting just 9-27 from the field since he returned. The Cavs should be able to take advantage of Wall’s rustiness, although it may be a sloppy game without Hill or Calderon to keep order on the offensive side.
Prediction: The Cavs eek out a win in Lue’s first game back… edging the Wiz in an ugly game 95-89.
Catch all the action starting in just a few minutes (8pm EST) on TNT… and as always, chime in below.
NICE HELP DEFENSE KORVER!!!! SPIN BY LBJ!!!!
Deezus
Amen!
Atrocious call on Nance.
Love Bron with the 2nd unit to close the first. And getting Korver shots.
Wow! Almost 40 point quarter… I may have been way off with my prediction…
Fried Chicken!
BBQ Chicken!
I suck…
Nice cut by Korver… nice read LBJ.
Wiz can’t stop anything…
NICE BALL MOVEMENT!!! KORVER AGAIN!
Great move, Bron.
Great D by Korver!
D-zus
Nice!
Odd JR passed up that shot. Works fine but he was more open.
Oubre getting Kobe calls out here SMH
WHAT A BS CALL…. where was the foul??????
Love ya kyle
Worried about our 2nd unit tonight versus zataransky

Damn… that look like that hurt.
LNJ went straight up… smh
It is wild to me that 8.7 boards ranks you in the top 15 rpg today.
Long rebounds off 3s to guards?
Could be. I think also bigs don’t crash the o boards as much. May not be as many. Pace is only now getting back to 90s levels.
Also guys don’t crash for o boards like the past.
Clarkson should’ve gone off glass on that missed bunny!
When in doubt… aim for the ribs… right Mike?
What a post pass by LBJ KORVER FOR THREE!!!
Washington having a rough night with open js.
Korver reacting to a foul going against him “aw shucks”
MISSED YA BUDDY!
Ugh. Should’ve been offensive with the nut kick. Ridiculous.
4 TOs by LBJ only thing keeping this game close early.
Clarkson could’ve had another layup or a pump and jump. Needs to play just a little more under control.
Geez 4 turnovers by James already. Miss Hill or Jose handling the ball more to set up offense
Getting too 3 happy. Good TO.
Love stepping into 3s: hits like 60%, Love falling away even one inch: 20%
Yeah he needs good balance to have a shot.
Good balance is kind of the law for a good jumper IMO.
Yeah except guys like JR can seemingly hit shots without having any of the center of gravity aligned with their shoulders.
Love scorching this quarter!
Bron loose with the ball again.
Man… the Wiz look rough…
Not galvanized LOL.
Love on fire
Kev is a bonfires shooter now.
Bona-fide
Bonfires works too…
I hate that shot from Bron. Love is wet.
Love is pure
…class!
It’s pretty crazy to have a starting five where everyone 6’7″ and up
LBJ has had some dribbling issues tonight. Got stripped by wall. Dribbled off his foot so bad that could be on shaq tin a fool.
Love is wet.
Clarkson at his best
I like him as a catch and shoot three point shooter. Just not his blind drives into contested mid rangers or his drives into three guys
After those nice passes, Cedi gets benched for Clarkson
Keep launching bombs
Yikes… careless TO there LBJ.
Looking good now. This lineup is really long 1-4. I will say that.
Maybe Lue wants to keep Clarkson & Nance together since they have a lot of chemistry & some history playing together.
Green has not taken a 3 yet.
Hell of a heads up play by love on that bound. Novel pass
Cedi getting a little exposed on d. Almost got backdoored lost his man earleir
KLOVE WITH THE FANCY PASS!!! LBJ FLYING THRU THE AIR!!!
Sweet pass by Love !!
NICE CATCH CEDI AND PASS!!!! KLOVE FOR THREEEE!!!
Cedi with two straight nice dimes off 3asy swing passes: e the kind Clarkson always refuses to make.
+1
NICE PASS CEDI!!! LBJ for THREEEEE!!!!
Afraid that might be clear path
Bron weirdly struggling in transition.
Yeah… weird landing on that pass, and didn’t pull off the spin in the lane for the easy layup.
Had to land that way to stay in bounds and have an angle for the shot. Not a great outlet.
For sure… but I also think he should’ve given up the shot there. He tried to get a little cute and still make the layup all in one move. Just catch the bad pass and reset.
Wish Cavs would feed Love in the post more to start games
WOW great cut Green! Great pass LBJ!
Cedi with subpar balance on that missed 3.
Nice finish, Jeff.
WOW THAT WAS A SERIES OF SLOPPY BASKETBALL
Nice find LBJ! Green with the and1!!!
Interesting call to start Cedi. Lue must like that spark he saw from him a few weeks ago.
I think it has more to due with keeping the 2nd unit together.
That’s not good… because that means Clarkson at the point. I get it’s necessity with Jose and Hill being out tonight so I’ll suspend judgment until either/both come back.
I AM ACTUALLY HOPING THE WIZ BLASTS THIS LINE UP ——PROVE TY IS ‘INEPT ‘—–SORRY TY KNOW YOU HAVE HAD HEALTH ISSSUES –BUT MAN START MAKING “SANE’ COACHING DECISIONS
I’ll give him this, 5hat is a switch everything lineup
Except for love.
WHY—TY—WHY —NOT A GOOD WAY TO START YOUR ” COMEBACK ‘ ALIENATING YOUR FAN BASE
Zeke saying everyone wants finish 7th now. I would agree, if I didn’t now the Bucks lose their first if it falls 15th or 16th.
Go Bucks.
Green is the new Shump.
I am not a huge fan of Green starting, but he guarded DeRozan much better than Shump ever could. And knows how to finish unlike Shump
I am not a fan of Green starting.
Does this mean TT & Nance at the same time on the second unit? Ugh.
If it means room for Calderon with the second unit. Or Bron/Love + Clarkson, JR, Korver, & Nance. I could deal with that.
If Tt gets any of nance minutes in the playoffs, that is a fireable offense. The only reason to start Green would be for him to guard Durant in the finals.
Hoping Washington overtakes Miami. Which probably means if we win, Washington likely has to win out and Miami has to lose a couple
Ugh. Green starting over nance in the playoffs. Dumb.
Wiz won the first game with Wall back. He sat the second game (b2b) & they got crushed. Do not know what happened after that.
Sorry, they’ve lost the last two with him back… but did win vs. Charlotte
Had to do this one last minute in a pinch, so you’ll forgive a small error I’d hope…
Hoping it’s not too ugly out there. Go Cavs!!
