2018 Finals Live Thread: Cavs @ Warriors, Game 1

The Cavs arrived at Oracle Arena with the black duds intact, though with a few… alterations. LeBron donned the suit shorts, as did Jordan Clarkson, while most of the guys went long on the pants. On other great news, Kevin Love has passed the concussion protocol, which means he’ll be playing tonight. And if Ty Lue’s words from earlier this week are any indication, it means he’ll be starting. My best starting lineup? Kev, Jeff, LeBron, Kyle, and George. I know we won’t get that, but hopefully the Cavs can put Kev at the 5 and abuse the likes of Kevon Looney.
If you’re like me, you really want this one, because you’re tired of everyone crapping on your favorite team all week. Whether it be memes, pundits, players, or just that lady with the cubicle who read that horribly timed Rachel Nichols interview, you’re sick of the hype, and you just want the Cavs to come out and punch this team in the mouth. Hopefully, that’s the feeling that LeBron’s teammates have after hearing about how useless they are all week. Hopefully the defensive connectivity from the Boston series returns, and Cleveland can play on a string against the Golden State.
There’s been plenty of hype and opinions on this, so I’m not going to waste time on more. I just want to enjoy the ride and watch these guys play at their best and put the Warriors on their butts. Oh, and #FreeCedi. Go Cavs.

TT has had an excellent start offensively. Draymond is playing 10 feet off of him and he takes advantage by setting brutal uncontested picks for Lebron. He has 2 screen assists already.
Think they only will win games if TT plays at top level and at least 30 minutes…
Is everyone on the Rockets endorses by State Farm? Did their Marketing department seek out the only sports team in colors the same as their brand?
Having TT/Love in at the same time makes it tough defensively. Esp when Cavs switch so easily

This lineup cannot defend at a high level. They have been getting pretty much anything they want. Even their misses have been open corner threes for Klay Thompson. We are switching too easily. We must fight more and play smarter.

Cavs are trying to attack the Love-Looney matchup and JR-Curry… pretty smart, except JR needs to make his decisions faster. He can’t back down Curry for 5 seconds like LBJ does because he doesnt have the size to pass out of it. IMO, JR should play face up and attack Curry directly, see how those knees react.

I’m only hoping for 100% effort – this season has already been gravy getting to this point.
I gotta say, I think the short/suits is kind of a fun aspect to the team. Seems like they are just enjoying the moment. Not taking it too seriously.

Good luck to you guys. I will take a leave for some time from this site, can’t take all the vitrol thrown at my favorite team. I hope to have to have atleast 4 close games in this series. I am interested to see if Lebron will reach his limit in terms of how far he can carry the ‘others’. My prediction, warriors winning 4-2.

Not expecting much. I believe the average win in games one and two the last few years against the Cavs is about 20 points.
25 points on average in games 1 & 2 the past two years. The closest the Cavs came was 19 points.
Ugh, not good.
In practically every Warriors game, even in wins, its usually been the Warriors showing more energy and effort and going after loose balls, long rebounds, diving on floor etc….Cavs need to expand that much energy and just go after it on every possession. I really think Houston completely shat itself the last two games and Warriors were good enough to overtake it, as would a lot of teams Im sure. If the Cavs show the energy, effort, and focus, I think they will be fine. GO CAVS!!!
