The Cavaliers travel to Kevin Love’s old stomping grounds tonight to face the disgruntled Jimmy Butler and his pack of timid youths. After a rough first game for Love, I’m sure he will want to bounce back and have a big game against his former team. The Wolves, meanwhile, lost their first game to the Spurs in a tight 112-108 contest. The Cavs face a tough first two opponents in Toronto and Minnesota. It gets easier for a short home stint but they’ll have to test their new uptempo offense against a Western Conference powerhouse. At the time of this writing, Nance and JR are still questionable and the TWolves are missing Justin Patton so they are nearly at full strength. As always Go Cavs!
Jordan Clarkson will never be a useful player. His head is too wrong. He shares the court with one of the greatest three point shooters in the history of the game but won’t pass it to him. It was the same last year. Jordan: Kyle Korver is a better scoring option than you. Every. Time. I can’t wait until we trade his expiring contract next year.
Also Zizic is almost always open for a drop pass on those p and rs.

So, with 2:30 left in the quarter, the Cavs shot only mid range jumpers. Minnesota proceeded to go on a 12-4 run. Those things are related.

They are bad shots. Unless he makes them at an 80% level clip, they are bad shots. They risk the dangerous long rebound of threes without the reward of the extra point when they go in.
No shot is a bad shot if you are shooting 66% on them. You wouldn’t need to shoot threes if you convert at that rate.

Cedi has stopped butler and Wiggins drives cold before they reached 17 feet in. Great footwork, anticipation, and lateral movement. Also, he is obviously very confident in that three point shot now as that trey was not really that open. In rhythm though and just enough space.
Hot take: Cedi is better than Wiggins *right now*…

Great showing so far. Wolves caught off guard by cavs energy and pace. Nice steal by Cedi. One thing I like so far is that the cavs are being aggressive, a la hill going immediately to the bucket after the steal from Cedi. Cedi also did a nic job staying in front of butler on an aborted drive attempt.
Gotta say, it’s nice being the team that wants it from the tip, even if our chances are much smaller to win. I’ll never understand why we couldn’t create that culture while Lebron was here.

I expect KAT to go off tonight after his awful first game. Also, Wiggins will probably have another of his HOF games against the Cavs. (seriously, dude, grow the F up…or start playing like you care against every opponent, not just the Cavs) Probably will be a tough game for the Cavs.
Yeah. Butler played his usual excellent d against SA, though he was a little rusty offensively. If Towns and Wiggins play like they normally do and unless they have chemistry issues, given the Butler situation, I expect it to be a tough game for us.
So did anyone take a long enough look at the stats from the Raptors game to notice Cedi actually kinda outplayed Kawhi? Sure Kawhi out scored Cedi by 7 points, but Cedi scored 17 on 10 shots in 33 minutes, it took Kawhi 12 more shots ( 22) and four more minutes (37) to score 23. Thats a 1.7 points per shot vs 1.05. He was very good, by far the best player on the floor for the cavs based on the eye test and traditional box score stats. It would be nice to see data when he was matched up with Kawhi defensively. Where did you find that? Didn’t think NBA.com had that that kind of tracking. Thought that level was just sport VU proprietary. For some reason his raw plus minus was bad. BPM from bball reference? Great data. The eye test don’t lie. Cedi will be top Cavs player by midseason.
Most of the data was from basketball reference. The advanced data is shown by season, and since there was only 1 game so far the stats had to be pure. Otherwise youd have to set a specific search code to pick it out game by game.
As for for kwahi only hitting two shots on Cedi, I pulled that from another article/interview with Cedi, but i forget the reference of where they found it (though i remember they talked to Cedi personally about that point).
