Live Thread: Cavs vs Heat (Hopefully)

The last time I recapped the a game against the Heat I predicted the Cavs would come out with a win. I suppose I was a bit naive to think this team could compete against any team that was actually trying hard. Cleveland ended up losing that game 118-94. Then, five days later, the Cavs faced off against the Heat again. I thought to myself, “maybe this time the Cavs will come out with some fire to make up for that abysmal performance last week.” I was wrong. Again. Cleveland fell to Miami by an almost identical score of 117-92. This time around, no one will be pulling the wool over my eyes. I fully expect a similar outcome. After all, the cavaliers will be without Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, and Larry Nance Jr. which makes up all of their regular front court rotation. However, Nance did manage to participate in a full practice on Thursday which led Coach Drew to state that he will have a “good chance” at playing against the Heat. Still, in addition to the front court troubles, David Nwaba, their best defender, is still nursing his own injury. I don’t foresee a positive outcome for this one.

This season has been an absolute slog so far. And until Cleveland starts to return some of their more competent players, it’s not going to get any better. Thus, we here at Cavs: The Blog are relegated to hoping each game features at least a competent quarter or two of basketball before they ultimately blow it before the final buzzer. Hopefully Larry Nance Jr. will see a return to the court as he was really starting to flourish as the best distributor for Cleveland before going down with a knee injury. Hopefully we see some more progress out of the rookie Sexton as he muddles his way through his first season. Hopefully Cedi Osman can build off a career high scoring night to maintain some consistent outside shooting. That’s what this Cavaliers’ team has turned into, a bunch of hopefullies.
