Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls
2022-01-19Good evening CtB!
Tonight, NBA fans are in for a treat as the Cleveland Cavaliers venture across Interstate 90 to the Windy City to take on the Eastern Conference’s top team (by decimal points), the Chicago Bulls. The center of the NBA basketball world is yet again the Central Division as the Cavs, Bulls, and Bucks dominate the top of the standings. It should be an intense, playoff like atmosphere in the United Center.
Both teams are dealing with injuries to key players. Outside of the obvious for the Cavs, Lamar Stevens and Rajon Rondo will both be out tonight. Luckily, Dylan Windler and Brandon Goodwin have played at an acceptable level, thus there shouldn’t be any pressure whatsoever to rush Stevens or Rondo back onto the court.
As for the Bulls, they’ve hit a bit of a rough patch with injuries. They will be missing several key players including Zach Lavine, Lonzo Ball, Derrick Jones Jr., and Jevonte Green. Elite perimeter defender Alex Caruso will be back, so that should be a massive boost.
Interestingly, the betting public has figured out the staying power of the Cavs and are heavily counting on a Cavs’ win. But the Bulls have an extremely high-powered offense driven by a familiar Cavs’ foe, DeMar DeRozan. The Cavs’ defense will have to compete and dominate for the full 48 minutes if they’re going to grind out a massive road win.
As for the Cavs’ offense, they need to stay true to themselves and play through the bigs, but also find ways to get Darius Garland loose from Alex Caruso should they match them up. It will be a fascinating chess match between two teams on course to potentially collide in the playoffs.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:00PM ET and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes… GO CAVS!!!
Pretty drive! Goodwin is great at finishing with a guy on his hip.
Cavs getting great looks, just missing
Kev is a brick mason tonight.
Go inside, get to the line.
As I type, Mobley hits his first 3 in a weeks.
Lid on the rim.
And Mobley breaks the seal!
Like to see Love hit a couple of threes, get in a groove…
Kev needs to make a shot.
Offense looking a little clunky without DG
Yep. We miss Rubio without a doubt.
Rondo is a downgrade, but still a proven PG.
MOBLEY GOT THE FOUL!
Keep posting Love up against Caruso
Mouse in the house
LOVE HIGH POST MASTER
Love dealing dimes…
Our size is going to wear on the Bulls. Alopecia on Love, Derozan on Mobley… are you kidding me?
STEVENS STILL HURT ?—-ARE WE GOING TO SEE A WADE SIGHTING TONIGHT
Yep & hopefully?
I believe so. He has been playing guard recently. So Windler got in.
Good quarter. Up 5. Mobes & Marks playing really well.
JB went for it putting DG in there for that last possession.
Let’s push it to 10 by half.
GREAT QUARTER KEEP IT GOING!
REALLY LIKING GOODWIN—BRINGS SOME POSITIVE ENERGY
JB got to tell Lauri to stop settling
Bad finish, but the bulls missed.
Good quarter…
Goodwin keeps pushing. What’s not to like?
Nice, Goodwin!
GOODWIN FINISH!
WINDLER STEAL!!!!!
Goodwin right on
Lol: “Who’s the kid with alopecia?” – My wife on Caruso.
Hahaha
😂😂
MINNESOTA LOVE!!!!
Love Redemption on the defensive end!
That was a sloppy rebound. Love had it & lost it.
Beautiful skip pass, Kev for that Lauri triple
Caruso can’t guard Love LMFAOOO
DG MIDRANGE >>>>>>>>>>
GOOD PT JASON—DIDN’T WE GET HIM IN FOUL TROUBLE THE LAST GAME
Windy!! Butter!
To pick nits, I’d have Allen go at Vucevic a bit. I mean, if he gets in foul trouble, we have a huge size advantage.
SO AGREE NATE—LAURI WIDE OPEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE
White is feeling himself.
Lauri was the better pass there.
Marksmannen hot early.
Jinxed him.
Do they really think they can hide DD on Mobley?.
Another one Lauri!!! Fill it up!!!
I’d imagine the big finish might have something to prove
Yep. You know he wants this one badly.
IT APPEARS LAURI GETTING MORE “LIFT–AIR ” ON HIS SHOT RECENT GAMES—-HAS IMPROVED HIS ACCURACY
Lauri’s head looking better on those long range shots, Nate.
All you, coach.
Sloppy closeout Okoro, terrible mistake.
I WOULD GO TO MOBES ALMOST EVERYTIME DOWN
Great pick up the trash pass for an easy dunk.
If they continue to guard Mobley with Derozan he should score 100 points
My guess is this is what the timeout was about.
Stripped, straight back to mobes, this team is so sharp and aware!
WHAT A PASS EASY MONEY MOBLEY
Teams just trading baskets.
Mobley needs to punish Derozan
DDR CANT STOP MOBLEY
Ice moving well!!!
OKORO BLOW BY COBY!
Mobley good move, but shot a line drive.
JA REJECTION… oh no bad turnover JA.
My only gripe with JA is he lets TOs creep in sometines.
MOBLEY EASY MONEY
DG EASY MONEY
Started just like they finished the last one!!
nice defense lets go.
LAURI CUT AND FINISH!!! LETS GOO
Looking for Okoro to continue his ascension prior to the elbow injury
Good opportunity for a win with all the DNPs for the Bulls. Let’s do it.
Let’s GOOOOOO!!
1 min left in 2nd, in Philly, Embiid has 24/7 on 9 of 13.
But Mo Bamba has 25 on 9 of 12. Magic up 7.
WOOF-WOOF-WOOF -WOOF !!!!—LETS GO BIG D(AW) G /// CAVS
Gametime. Go Cavs!
I’d love to see the Wiz beat Fat Beard & Flat Earth tonight.
We did have a Nuggets, Spurs, Celtics 3 way.
Nuggets unload two guys who are out for the year (Bol, Dozier) and a 2028 2nd to get a live body and some shooting in Forbes. It is tough having 4 guys out for the year on your roster.
Forbes was not getting a pot of PT in SA, and his departure frees more minutes to develop their young backcourt (Murray, White, Primo). They get a 2nd from Denver and a PF from Boston (Hernangomez).
C’s one step closer to under the luxury tax.
SAS needs to free Thad Young LMFAO
Yep. He could help a contender. Always liked him as a player. I don’t get why the Spurs aren’t utilizing him. Tank?
guess so!
Shams is saying the Kings have put the kybosh on any Fox or Haliburton deals. They told Fox’s people they intend to build around him & Haliburton.
That is wise. See what you can get for Barnes, Hield, and Bagley & go from there.
Bulls are certainly down a lot if guys (Lavine, Ball, Williams, Jones Jr), but they get Caruso back tonight and will be itching to break a 4 game skid.
Should be a high intensity game.
Definitely, if were betting, would honestly have to take Chicago as a home dog.
THE SO CALLED PROPOSED TRADE KINGS // 76ER’S —TOTALLY LUDICROUS—-WOULD NEVER GIVE THAT MUCH UP FOR SIMMONS ( AND THROW IN PLAYERS ) HOPE 76ER’S END UP WITH SIMMONS ” ON THEIR LAP “
yeah if Morey turned it down he’s an absolute bozo.
I think Morey wants to make a run at Harden in the off-season. The high asking price is so a deal does not get done for a while.
He’d take an all-star back, but that ain’t happening. So he needs to shed salary somehow (Harris and Simmons) or take back guys he can trade for expirings.
The Fat Beard has one foot out of Brooklyn already.
He may not even need to shed that much salary, I think a sign & trade, Harden for Simmons, works straight up. Though Philly might have hard cap issues.
