Live Thread: Cavs vs Knicks
2026-02-24Oh how the turns have tabled. After a 5-0 start, a disastrous first quarter in the AM versus OKC has the Cavalier faithful already questioning the Kenny Atkinson and the James Harden experience. It doesn’t get any easier tonight as the New York Knicks roll into town winners of four of their last seven, but ridding 12-3 in their last 15. Of those losses, two are to the Pistons and one is to the Pacers.
While Cleveland doesn’t need to win this one, they do have to compete throughout, and can’t afford a crappy start. They also have to rebound, which was a bugaboo against OKC and is always a worry against Mitchell Robinson and the Knicks. I hope the good guys get the ball to JA early which they were doing in the five game road trip. I also hope they don’t make the mistake of starting Wade at the three. OKC rightly played Wade to see if he was hitting and slacked off when he wasn’t. Merrill or Tyson would be a better choice.
As for injuries, the Cavs are without Max Strus and the Knicks are without Miles McBride so this will be a battle. Go Cavs.

Our offense has become boring in that good way (the few iso attempts by Mobley aside).
Didn’t play or shoot it particularly well but just kept generating good shots.
I did not expect a wire to wire win with Merrill and Mitchell and Mobley all kind of stinking.
Great job by Allen, Wade and Ellis.
Ellis was ok. Schröder really set the tone defensively for the bench.
Tyson as well, especially on the boards.
I got to watch the second half. Schröder and Ellis are so FAST! what a plus. this is going down as an all time great trade.
Monster win.
Bryant!
Ellis hit Brunson’s elbow. This should be a lost challenge.
Well shit, what do I know.
To win yet not win.
That was some weird ass crap.
I think shortening the rotations some will help the new guys integrate. No Tomlin, CPJ, ir Bryant minutes. Some Wade at the 5.
Tomlin is an energizer bunny with a simplied role. Bryant is vet stretch 5. And CPJ a floor game guy. They can fit easier later & and need.
Getting the top 9 (10 with Strus) as much burn together as we can seems like a good idea.
They’ll also rotate in three different guys tomorrow.
For sure.
Cavs are miserly. FINISH THEM!
I would not mind pushing this to white flag territory for NY.
They do not play tomorrow, though.
Tyson’s had a great floor game.
As has Ellis.
Yep, at both ends.
After Spida ignored Mobley on the lob, and then missed the layup, Evan was not going to pass that ball. Glad he got to the line.
Mitchell is 4-14 and Merrill has not scored. Mobley has 5 and has not scored in 2 quarters it seems.
We’d have been DOA vs NY a month ago in a game like this. Up 18.
Wade is ballin’.
65 pts thru 3 is nasty. Yes, tge K icks are cold, but our D has been much better.
Up 18.
Yeah they’ve missed a lot, but Cavs perimeter D is part of that. Shamet has not been open at all, for example. He usually hits a few 3s when the Knicks are rolling.
Wade’s hands have been good tonight.
Tyson cool under pressure.
Jaylon “short roll” Tyson
Captain bandaid on the scene.
Shroeder so shrewd!!!
Schröder is mean.and I love it.
Killer instinct.
Wade at the 5. No Mobley.
Minutes restriction
Lol Tyson didn’t bother to guard that diawara triple on purpose.
Tyson!
Nice 3 from Harden and good play from Allen.
It is really helping us that they are so off from 3, but I guess we were due one of those nights.
We guarded imo (outside of KAT, who needs more touches imo)
Was about to say this lineup seems overmatched, but they are holding up ok.
That is at least 3 blocks for Knicks in transition after a live ball TO. Drat.
Is it me, or do we blow a lot of chances to extend leads with quick triples or TOs.
It’s the TOs for sure. Would be 15-20 up by now.
Yes there will be contact when you run in front of the advancing player, Reggie.
Brunson and Harden about to have a flop off.
NY doubling Mitchell. Results in wide open Harden 3. More please.
WTF on a shooting foul there
Awful call
Stepback from Harden!
Deaner was phenomenal that half. 9/5/2 three steals +15 in 15 minutes. I stand corrected.
GOOD HALF—-14 ASSISTS/ NEED 9 MORE—- PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO GRIND OUT THE “ W”
Missing this due to Peacock nonsense. Winning rebounding battle at half (20-19).
A nice close to the quarter.
Up 6.
ALLEN IS ANGRY!!!
No Reggie that’s not how it works. Rebounds are rebounds, not assists.
MRob starting to nab OBoards.
Cavs in the bonus. 9 minutes of Golden Turding about to ensue
And there was much rejoicing….
That feeling when you had RJ as commentator recently and now you have Reggie. Ugh.
Reggie is awful. One of the worst things about the NBA.
Starting to have a TO problem, again.
Rebounding remains a problem.
OMG what a block Ellis.
Holy crap. Glad Mobley’s ok.
Careful, Mobes!!!
Wade played mitchrob off the floor.
James Dean Wade.

Mostly good quarter. 35-26. Good work on the D boards in particular. Evan hit a couple threes.
Beeee-autiful finishing play.
1 on MitchRob.
Wade with no hands up in the rebound contest. Cavs lucky to get possession.
I hate this lineup but 5-out is nice.
Oof
Turnovers. Defense stout though.
Great foul Tyson
Good hard foul, Tyson. #letemknow
Lol. Sochan is terrible.
Still not taking care of the ball.
Jarrett Allen! Best finisher in the association!
So smooth!
Schröder ovwr Tyson is dumb.
Tyson in shortly I think.
Am I seeing no Robinson??
Ah shit, there he is.
Schroeder in.
Why is wade in the starting lineup?
Very good question.
Mobley in the corner is a wrinkle.
AGREE WITH NATE—- CAVS DO NOT HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME ( WANT TO) BUT THEY DO HAVE TO COMPETE—- HARDEN EXPERIENCE ( ALONG WITH SCHROEDER/ ELLIS) ARE STILL IN IT s INFANCY STAGE——-WANT ELLIS TO GO “ DAWG “ ON BRUNSON
Disappointing turnover, Mobley not presenting properly against a smaller player.
Too open for Brunson ugh
Mobley. Bad seal.bad foul Mobley.
Harden hits an early contested 3. I like!
Argh. I hate the force there in transition without numbers. Hit the trailer.
LOL Bridges.
Wide open Mitchell in the corner. Love it.
After last game, my optimism is OFF.
We have to play better, harder, & smarter. But I think OKC & Boston are miles ahead of us on all three counts. And SA, Det, and NY probably as well. Maybe Hou.
Hopefully we improve. And we all knew there would be bumps. It was really disappointing we could not close after we fought back (well) to take the lead.
Gotta say I’m the opposite. Think if there are no more significant injuries, Cavs go to the next level as management figure out how to use all the new pieces properly.
