Playoff Live Thread: Cavs vs Raptors (Game 7)
2026-05-03It all comes down to this, Cavs fans. In a series where the Cavs have choked away two games, home court advantage for Game 7 looms large for Cleveland, but not as large as the need to stop making stupid turnovers, play their best lineups, and compete for 48 minutes.
Can they do it? Normally, you’d think they’d caught a break with Brandon Ingram being ruled out of Game 7, and Immanuel Quickley having been out all post-season. Unfortunately, when things seems like they should be easier, that’s when the Cavs tend to lose focus. Will this be the moment they get it together, or will a Cavalanche of roster changes be in the offing? We shall see.

Also I don’t understand playing Schroeder “and” Donovan “and” Harden together. If you’re relying on Schroeder for a lot of handle in those possession, then Merrill probably does more for you than Mitchell for a few minutes in that specific lineup, against this specific team that’s keyed in on Donovan (much better off-ball mover, bigger defensively although not as big as Toronto’s wings, and the most gravity outside out Donovan and Harden)

I think this captures a lot of what makes KA a bad playoff coach so far. If his structure is 10-man lineups, that’s fine in the regular seasons; makes it easier to develop talent. But it’s crazy to go away from a hot hand or cut short a run in the middle of a playoff game – a game 7 – just to stick to your rotation plan.
