Live Thread: Cavs @ Knicks 2014-12-04 Off By Nate Smith Knicks, losers of 12 of  the last 14 host the Cavs. Lets hope Cleveland doesn’t help them off the mat. Attack of the Mid-Top Talking Cavs with Mark Neal
Didn’t realize that the Herculoids moved to SF. Could really use them.
Cavs have now won 5 in a row and are 10-7 compared to the Heat’s 9-8 in LBJ’s first year after 17 games. Progress
Yep. This team is starting to figure out how to play together. Leb has to love being able to let irving take over sometimes.
How exactly have they started to figure out how to play together? It was basically Lebron iso or Lebron and Andy PnR or Kyrie iso today. Love was ignored. The bench was ignored and non-productive. TT had to scrounge for rebound putbacks which he did piss poorly on and even when they passed to him, he missed. Who else? Ah, Marion was non-existent and continued to drop passes. Also, “Leb” hasn’t done anything to let Kyrie take over. The majority of the time they both were on the court together, whoever this “Leb” guy is was still bringing it up… Read more »
Marv Alberts obsessing over Kyrie’s assist total when he had 37 points on 18 shots is the height of basketball ignorance. Kyrie is Kyrie. Dude is a beast. Stop trying to judge him like he is Jason Kidd or something. His job on nights like tonight is to score and will the team to victory. An epic performance. And yet people are talking assist totals!?!?!?
Yeah and if nobody is making their shots including layups how do you get assists. He did what he had to do, and a win is a win… Love it
Well, he IS Marv Albert. He’s never exactly been the paragon of basketball knowledge. He’s just latching onto a tired media tropes that “Kyrie isn’t passing the ball enough” and “LeBron’s gonna be mad that Kyrie isn’t sharing the ball” etc. If he bothered to pay attention to the game, Kyrie would have had double figure assists if guys had hit easy and open shots. Just one of those nights when his shot was going in and everyone else’s wasn’t.
Exactly and how many times was Lebron running point? I am sure Lebron is loving the fact that he shot like crap and he had kyrie to keep them close enough to finish. Love the fact we are in the media but can’t stand the media at the same time. Go cavs!
LeBron did tell Allie after the game that it was all because of Kyrie’s shoes tonight. He seemed only half kidding, and then gave a shout out to Nike
I know. I almost came back to my computer at some point in the 4th to complain about that same thing. As much as I hate the obnoxious homerism of our Fox Sports Ohio guys, Marv tonight was being a real jerk criticizing Kyrie at every opportunity when he was killing it on the court. At least one of the other guys on the broadcast kept trying to set Marv straight on how Kyrie was playing and how Lebron was being ball dominant for the majority of the game and it really wasn’t Kyrie’s fault he had no assists. At… Read more »
People forget that Marv is a toup-wearing, back-biting, kink-loving misogynist who is lucky to have a GD job. Marv should really learn to just stfu and try to emulate Hubie Brown or something.
Laugh out loud!
SHOTS FIRED
Kyrie played incredible. The point is to win, not rack up arbitrary numbers. I only saw one shot he took that was a bad shot.
Well said. The reason we care about assists is because they LEAD TO BASKETS. If someone is as efficient as Kyrie is tonight, trying to get assists doesn’t make sense – just get the baskets directly. As EvilGenius notes, the media just loves to push the narrative that Kyrie needs to “learn to share” and LBJ needs to “teach him” with his infinite wisdom. Marv is usually a bit better about avoiding cliche’d storylines, but tonight his relentlessness in clinging to that narrative really took away from the epicness of what Kyrie was doing. At least Greg Anthony was giddy… Read more »
Someone mentioned it somewhere above in the thread, but it was just so cool to hear the New York crowd “oooh” and “ahhh” over some of Kyrie’s sick moves. He put on a hell of a show tonight
they even showed one of his highlights on the jumbortron
Win ugly! We didn’t deserve it, but the Knicks blow…
A win is a win is a win is a win is a win
See, Carmelo really did want to lose this game, otherwise he would have passed that to someone who could actually hit a shot
Lebrons spoke in his ear about taking the shot I bet. Tricked him even with a cold hand he took it.
Wow. What a game. I love this team.
THANK GOD Carmelo decided to take the final shot!!!
Wow. That is about the most difficult off hand layup you can make
He looked like a natural lefty. Stat was shocked
KYRIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Is Kyrie upset about timeout or something else?
Mad that Blatt called the TO to stop the potential break and easy score or Knicks foul there. Worked out anyway since Kyrie is in beast mode!
Stupid time out there. Blatt has to realize how bad his time out plays have been this year and get out of his own way.
Really great defensive stand on that last possession by the Knicks. Cavs really crashing the boards
Blatt should’ve used that time out earlier in the shot clock.
LeBron really wants to lose this game.
Not as much as Carmelo does…
Glad act hardaway or smith haven’t played much in the 4th.
They aren’t that good when they aren’t wide open. And Cavs have turned up the defensive pressure
Katie and love looked defensively engaged this whole quarter.
Got a lucky win. It was brutal.
Brutal is a little strong. They still won on the road
I love hero ball when the team is in the bonus and has two of the best players in the league at getting to the rim. Then again, with the officiating you have to imagine they won’t get calls, and the players know it.
Cavs settling for long jumpers on two straight possessions.
Can’t give up a three out of the time out. Need a big defensive stand here.
Stoudemire looks like he’s playing better than last season.
He’s been healthy and a beast lately
Smart play by KLove
At least we can count on Carmelo to man-down. Jeez he looks bad
Just turned this on. Kyrie playing well. Why is this close?
3.5 quarters of garbage by everyone not named Kyrie.
He’s about the only one playing well unfortunately. LBJ having a rough shooting night. Not a lot of ball movement. Bad early D on guys like Hardaway and Acy. Cavs have picked up the D intensity in second half though.
Made up the call with the travel call on Melo (which was a good call).
Crappy officiating tonight!
Everyone is having an off night save Kylie. AC and Fred really off too
These refs are truly horrible
Time to lock it down Cavs!
That non-call on that drive was the breaking point. LBJ with the deep three and then the dunk with authority on the steal. He’s going to take over now.
Ye Gods this Knicks team is awful. Gotta love the sign and retire contract by Melo.
Melo looks even less happy than Kobe does.
If your gonna hit one that was a good one
