Live Thread: Cavs vs Hornets

First things first…O-H!…
The Cavs are in Charlotte tonight to take on the Hornets. Â Both teams are missing critical pieces – LeBron for the Cavs, Al Jefferson and Lance Stephenson for the Hornets.
It’s getting to the point where the Cavs need Ws one way or the other. Â The East is shaping up to be pretty competitive at the top and they certainly don’t want to be without home court advantage to in the playoffs.
David Blatt is talking about simplifying the offense. Â No offense to him but the offense has seemed pretty simplistic to me all season. Â Maybe tonight they’ll stop trying so hard and just get the ball in the hands of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Â The pick and roll/pop is still one of the harder moves to cover if executed correctly.

Kyrie and Dion finish 16-48 from the field. An even 25% from the field for the game. Just awful shooting.
And a total of 5 assists between them in 75 minutes of playing time, or one assist per 15 minutes.

I know. I think the draftnik pontificator said some crap about potential and upside or something like that. The knock on Paul was he was “older” and might have met his ceiling. Yeah right. Delly is at his ceiling. Anthony Bennett might be at his ceiling. But even the least trained eye say Chris Paul as elite. But not Chris grant. The Hawks had to be elated when the cavs took him off their hands.
I know these are the Charlotte Hornets but at least the Cavs finally kept a team under 90 points.

That should do it. Cavs made it much harder on themselves by not passing and playing too much ISO ball (Kyrie and Dion) in the fourth quarter.

If LeBron was ok passing to Donyell Marshall for a last-chance shot, he should feel pretty good about passing to Love if the situation presents itself.

Gary Neal is the other guy I would ask for along with Biyombo for Dion if Griff made that trade.
I don’t see them asking for Dion. They already have Lance Stevenson.
Neal’s a 5-13 from the field (1-5 from 3) with a team worst -13 +/-. The Cavs have guys that can match that.
It’s the way he plays the game, even when his shot’s not falling
He also had the misfortune to be out there when Cavs went on their run so the +/- is inflated. He’s usually their best guy off the bench.
