Live Thread: Cavs vs. 76ers (Pre-Season)

Tip off is at 7:00 pm (EST) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio and NBA TV, and will be broadcasted on WTAM 1100 AM.
The Commadore 64 that produces the NBA schedule assigned the Cavs a preseason back-to-back to start the 2015-16 campaign. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Timofey Mozgov are sitting the meaningless contest out. Anderson Varejao is a game time decision, but they should probably give him the night off as well. The 76ers are still in their scorched Earth phase, but should be able to trounce the Cavs zoo crew. Let’s sacrifice two hours of our youth together watching who pulls ahead in the race for the 15th roster spot.
If you’d rather watch Timofey Mozgov’s new Sky Zone commercial on a loop instead of the game, I wouldn’t hold it against you at all. I went to a Sky Zone in LA a year ago on a date, and had an absolute ball and a biscuit. I highly recommend it for a child’s birthday party. My only complaint about Sky Zone is that it lacks the terrifying animatronics of Chuck E. Cheese’s, and they don’t sell beer. Maybe I’m a weirdo, but I like a subtle element of fear and alcohol at social functions. Heck, Chuck E. Cheese’s founder Nolan Bushnell looks like he could have been a casting shoo-in to play General Zaroff in an adaption of “The Most Dangerous Game.”

I’m pretty confident Daye is a legit NBA player. Not a good one necessarily, but a legit one. Despite tonight, I’m not as confident that’s true for Cunningham.

You’re right. It just feels that way when I look at how Griff used those two trades to turn Dion, a late first, and a pile of garbage into Mozgov, Shump, and J.R.
That’s what always concerns me about these guys….he has a hot few weeks, you sign him, and then he reverts to his previous average. Yeah, there are guys like Danny Green who get overlooked somehow, but those guys are pretty rare.
They wouldn’t keep him for his shooting though… more for his energy and defense.

Honestly, this Sixers team could be historically bad
They’ve been historically bad the last two years and the two before that they were awful. The Hinkie reign has been an outright disaster.
Ted Stepien can’t believe how bad the sixers are.
Hinkie is like the guy who thinks he’s figured out a fail proof system to beat blackjack and then loses everything in ten minutes.
I don’t think he’s really done anything dumb, but what he’s doing a lot of GMs around the league could do. He just has the backing from ownership to not try to win for years. You can stockpile picks etc, but at some point you have to put together a team. That is how he will be judged ultimately.
I mean, I could do the job he’s doing. Losing games is easy. Putting together a team is hard.

That’s pretty cool, Mike! And I completely agree with Pelton. I know I’m one of the only Smokin’ Joe supporters, but looking at it objectively, his shooting last year pretty much made him a lock for this year, in my opinion.
