Live Thread: Cavs @ Nuggets
2015-12-29After the Cavs shooting troubles on Christmas Day against the Warriors, followed by them leaving their hearts in San Francisco the following night against the Blazers, the squad was in need of a slump buster, and they got it last night against directionless Suns in a 101-97 victory. Tonight’s matchup against the rebuilding Nuggets figures to be the second leg of new winning stanza to carry us into a hopeful new year.
As painfully as the Cavs’ two-game losing streak crashed our sugar infused holiday high, the franchise is lightyears from where they were 365 days ago. Don’t listen to that idiot at your workplace who thinks it’s time to panic because he watches four hours of regurgitated hot take gruel from the afternoon argument show block—this is the most worry free New Year we’ll experience as Cavs fans since 2008.

Perhaps I’m nuts, but I’ve felt bonded with fans of other franchises who have had their stars leave for bigger stages because they can relate to what we went through in 2010. I rooted hard for the Nuggets hard after Carmelo Anthony forced his way to the Big Apple, and they obliged. The team rebounded better than anyone in recent memory after trading away a franchise player, posting an impressive 57-wins in 2012-13, a higher total than the Nuggets ever tallied with Anthony. The following season George Karl and Masai Ujiri both severed ties with the franchise at the right time, and in retrospect the success of 2013 appears to have been fools gold. A rash of injuries, failed trades, and alcoholism were key contributors to their fall from grace.  The squad has been stuck in lottery land since, but this reboot looks promising with high-ceiling potential building blocks in Emmanuel Mudiay and Jusuf Nurkic, along with a bounty of tradable players in their prime, and the biggest war chest of draft picks in the West.
When #Cavs G Kyrie Irving sits Tuesday in Denver, he says it will be the final back-to-back set he misses https://t.co/6zHGlQMTya
— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) December 28, 2015
Kyrie will be sitting this tilt out for maintenance after his 22 point in 24 minute performance against the Suns, but the Cavs should be able to gain ground on their 35-45 all-time series deficit to Denver, as the Nuggets figure to be without Danilo Gallinari, and Mudiay. Tip off is at 9:00p.m. on Fox Sports Ohio, and can listened to on WTAM 1100, 100.7 MMS.
SHUMP-TASTIC!!
Wow TT got held quite a bit on that possession….
Mo should have taken that shot
Looks like Mike Miller doesn’t play for the Nuggets either.
Yeah. He got old fast. Anymore!!!
Remember when you loved that guy, Cols? Seems like just a year ago…
I always liked Nelson for some reason.
I don’t think JR gets to the free throw line a lot. It’s was like a “Oh wait , got a call his way”
Here comes Moz… hope he can do some good things…
He cannot. He turned back into Denver misgivings
Just a gross sequence of events there
They should not make coaches where a stupid tie.
Maybe they enjoy wearing stupid ties…
I think even the Lakers could beat this Nuggets team in its present state.
The Nuggets stink!!!!!!!
Joffrey Louvergne just sounds like a dirty French waiter…
Caves getting bored.
JR loves that shot this year…
Sloppy from LeBron there.
You all have me laughing here, I love CTB, always gotta follow any Cavs game with the crew on here
Hard to watch and post. How do you do it.
Post during TO’s or during FTs.
Time to get the lead to 20+ and cruise.
Delly doing his his KLOVe impersonation lol, great pass and finish by LBJ
Delly Manziel to LeBarnidge!
Great look by Delly for Bron. Or as Cols claims Leb!
Good pass from the Australian weight loss champ
Touchdown Cavs!!
AC: They sure are getting their hands on a lot of balls
LOL
The stuff he and Fred say without awareness is hilarious
Jameer Nelson… king of the jump pass…
Delly for toasted there.
Hmm Didn’t ‘ see that . Too busy admiring his rebound and nice pass assist to Lebron. We aren’t going to go all out troll on Delly in this game thread are we?
Nice post defense by KLOVE, and Lebron returns with a jumper, its so weird seeing him make jump shots
James shooting well despite the prayers of Nate
That was some great D by KLove on Laverne…
Great defense there!!
Smith is such a smart player on defense
That’s a new level of low Cols..
Bron made both free throws…
James gets fouled every time he’s near the hoop
This is where Cavs might get gassed from a back to back.
Gotta be hard to keep the intensity.
That was a horrible call against LeBron.
Kinda sloppy start in this 3rd
Cavs are distracted by Cols’ posts.
Is Papanikolou the longest current NBA surname?
I want James to rip his short.
I don’t want to see his junk…
Different strokes for different folks…
Shirt. Sicko.
Hahah.
Huh? You really like him don’t yah!
Faried Shaqtin’ a fool though with the short arm fast break…
Delly with too much telegraph on that lob…
Geez. Terrible pass from Delly
TT with the and one…
There. Thompson goes to the line.
Pretty good half. Only bad stat I really see is only 10 assists. Need to move the ball a little more but overall happy with their play.
Well this stat is interesting. Mosgov has 0 rebounds. Delly has 5
Amazing how much better Delly is this year. Lost a few people
Also interesting is him and RJ having 15 minutes between them and no rebounds assists blocks steals and just 4 points (all Timo’s) between them.
You guys should get me a job near Cleveland so I can go to more games.
Switched to pretzels. Nothing else in the bruised.
Munchies?
Happens sometimes. What are you eating?
Mashed potatoes…
With gravy?
Z
X
Xx
No, I eat them plain…
Cols, how about some, I dunno, White Castle maybe?
Can’t walk to one. I still even m ow where one is.
I had Cheetos cheese puffs. They aren’t all that great.
For the first time or something?
I don’t m ow I f I ever had that brand of puffs.
Did somebody mention puffs?
Puffs… but no pass… ;)
I see you fired up the random post generator……… among other things.
/randomshowerthoughts
Snyder’s Cheetos are the BEST in Ohio. So fresh!
Denver was more fun when they had Carmelo.
And a lot more fun when they had English, Issel and Kiki.
Long long time ago
David Thompson…
Saw him play, but he was about done. Never saw him in his prime.
Cavs haven’t been to the line yet… would like to see that change…
Next time we should have a meet up in Denver.
Pearl JAm 20 is also in.
The one from boulder beer is just so so
Looks like you’ve been sampling quite a few varieties tonight…
Yes. Mostly Stella though. They were on sale.
The winter ale from new Belgium is good.
What a xrapoy Christmas fir the cabs though. Long road trip.
Tell me about it. I had a crappy Christmas in my cab too……
I feel bad not being there. Makes me not feel like a good fan. Even though I know I’m a good fan. Sucks. At least they are on a normal teever channel b
Want more mo and LeBron
Enjoy your Mo this game, it might be the last you get of him for awhile.
They’ll find mins for Mo. Really believe in the value of his mid-range shot. I am serious. No sarcasm
Denver does look like a pretty crappy team, outside of their Euro bigs, though. They’re going to need to move some of their dogs in the offseason.
They are crappy, and down what, 4 starters as well.
Shump is a nice transition player at both ends.
Dominating. Nothing bad about this fame
You at the game, cols?
No. Too expensive for crappy seats. Sucks. I mean I guess I could’ve gone but I went last year and
Shump having a great game…
Way to finish Shump! To offset a bit of a late defensive letdown. Back to a double-digit lead at the half.
Shumpert just keeps on surprising me in this game, great job Iman for not settling
Nice job, Shump. Ending the half giving up that 3 would have sucked.
Wow total lapse in Denver’s at the end of the half letting Shump have a layup before time expires
Looked like they expected him to just chuck up the long 3.
So far all they have shown is that they don’t play defense (nuggets).
Great awareness by Shump there!
Gary Harris should change his first name to Harry.
Great pass by Mo to KLOVE, Love when this team is actually moving the ball , they are way more fun. Ball moves more with Lebron sitting.
Love this ball movement right now. LBJ on the bench.
