Live Thread: Cavs @ Raptors
2016-05-21This would be the game. If the Cavaliers are to complete the Eastern Conference sweep, they will need to be particularly focused in their first playoff game off American soil. The Raptors have been mostly horrible through the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals, (or the Cavs have made them look horrible, either way) but the Drakes will likely come out firing in one last effort to salvage the lopsided series. The Cavaliers could be “feeling themselves” a little too much after winning 10 straight. The ball stopped ever so slightly in Game 2, but Kyrie Irving’s jumper  and LeBron’s pinpoint passing hid the warts. Defensively, Cleveland was outstanding, but we all know that role players have a tendency to play better at home. The Raptors are 6-2 at home in these playoffs. If Kyle Lowry can continue his strong play in elimination games,(and this basically is one) and the Raptor bench can come through, the Cavs could finally say hello to the loss column.
Still, the Cavaliers have never looked so locked in on both sides of the sidelines. The Raptors will need everything to go their way to stop the Cavs from tying an NBA record with 11 consecutive wins to start the playoffs. Dwayne Casey would be wise to play Norman Powell more as the series goes forward. The Raptors have had no luck shutting down Irving in one-on-one. Powell is a good defender as a rookie and would add a jolt of athleticism and spirit to an occasionally laconic backcourt. Sound off.
Love has to get that 50-50 ball. Just a generally lethargic effort from everyone.
K Love was so lazy on that play. BB gets 16 boards in on frieking half
Maybe Lowry should stay on the bench
Biyombo, who escalated the situation, doesn’t get called for anything.
Cavs understandably a bit flat on defense. Makes sense after winning 10 straight blow outs.
Interesting….can you please list the 10 straight blowouts?
Well, there was that time they beat the Hawks by a point… And when the Pistons missed a chance to tie or win at the buzzer…
We’re you making excuses when you came out of the womb?
There is nothing understandable about playing lazy defense.
Ah, I see that LeBron is practicing for Space Jam 2 with that flop!
Ever had a 60 lb elbow hit you in the mouth?
Happens all the time in pick up games.. Usually your head snaps back (which Lebron’s did) but he sure did sell the fall backwards
Not that I don’t think Carroll shouldn’t have gotten T’ed up, but LeBron fell back pretty far
So it’s pretty freakin clear Carroll pushed tt’s arm into Lebron. Don’t see how that’s any different than Carroll hitting Lebron
That would be analogous to the Korver shooting foul in the Atlanta series when someone (Shump or JR?) fouled the screener.
Carroll used TT’s arm.
JVG with possibly the dumbest question ever: Is it a T when you hit your own teammate?
Really wanna see how Cavs respond
Keep calm everyone. We got this. I want 16-0
I mean it’s on now. If the Cavs don’t get fired up….
Nope. Carroll extended the arm.
Bwahahaa. Son of a gun.
Wow, wow.
Of course a cleveland hater had to talk crap about the cavs and goad me into drunkenly betting money that this team would sweep. Bloody hell. Hope the cavs can save my butt in the second half.
And an Irving three

16-2 run until Irving’s make
https://vine.co/v/iEw5aPwBIiQ
Also, second chance points are killing us (and our lack of second chance opportunities)
we aint attacking at all, lets see how Cavs respond. They are tentative on defense and offense, dont know why they ain playing with more energy
The Cavs are not running plays at all and it has been mistake after mistake defensively.
no effort
11-2 run by Raps last 3 minutes
We’re playing on the perimeter too much on offense, need to get back into attack mode.
Welp a team is finally consistently hitting open threes on us and our offense has stalled will be interested to see how we respond to some adversity.
It seems the roles have been reversed, the Raptors are playing at an incredible pace and the Cavs are way too slow.
Kyrie playing like he’s half asleep
Raps just want this one more right now… Cavs better get their act together…
It seems the Cavs are going to finally get tested. The Cavs need this. They need to be challenged.
Cavs need to step up to end the second, or else its a big uphill battle. Need to play better defense and smarter offense, Lebron has barely attacked the rim for fouls and finishes
Would like to see less kevin love facing up and more fighting for real post position
Why is LeBron jacking up threes tonight?
DeRozan with two straight blowbys on JR.
this defense sucks and also, barely any ball movement
Kyrie and Kev not pulling their weight this time… 1-11 with four points…
Irving slow down and let biyambo block that instead of throwing it down.
We aren’t playing yet with the same energy as the first two games.
Better from Kyrie since his return. Ran a decent PnR with James that got JR an open 3 (though he missed). And got free for his first open midrange look.

If Cavs can hit the gas here in the last five minutes… they’ll control it… if not, gonna be a tough one
They are leaving the Raps too open and since the team is hitting their 3’s (7), they are more confident, ga play better
Shump lucky he didn’t get called for a moving screen there…
Gotta hit those bunnies Shump… although it did look like he got hit…
Yeah but you know he’s not getting that call.
IDK… it was open floor… most guys would get that call…
Most guys don’t have a website encouraging them not to dribble.
And probably not going to hit tough layups most of time.
Dammit Shump. Great D then bad o.
Too much open shots, even if its jump shots
Delly working on D, struggling on O. Looks a little gimpy.
thank God for Frye so far
Think all have been with a hand in his grill too.
Channing Frye is the DIFFERENCE!
All hail Griffin!

Delly gotta be better. Gotta finish.
That’s a lot for Delly to try and do on a bum ankle…
LeBron tricked em into that call.
YES! Three on Lowry! Stupid foul…
Stupid call really but thems the breaks.
Nice crowd at the Q for the viewing party
Cavs should be driving right at Lowry right now to force him out…
Good point.
Raps made a couple adjustments to who they overplay against. Working for now. Lue will dial is in at halftime
Cavs slooooow tonight. seem tired.
Bad defense from the Cavs tonight. Offensively they are doing fine.
But they need to stop the dribble drives and grab the defensive rebounds.
Too many wide open threes.
Cavs need to step up on da def glass and defense, Raps getting too much open looks
Exactly the Raptors are getting good looks off their second opportunities.
Bench stepping up for Raps…
DEEP FRYE!
https://vine.co/v/iEwAF5Ji9Lz
LBJ hacked repeatedly on that putback…
https://vine.co/v/iEwAqWFWnbO
The pick and roll with Frye is one of my new favorite wrinkles…
Irving/Love 0-9 and just down 3.
LOVE and Kyrie is 0-9, only JR and Lebron hitting mainly so far
The Cavs were held up at Customs yesterday until they promised to let the Raptors lead after one.
Little ball movement most of our shots contested. Toronto finally making open shots. Need to get back to moving ball.
Are they sure this wasn’t written by DeRozan?

How is Kyrie playing bad? Just missing shots. Give me Kyrie in the fourth quarter over any player in the league!
Are you watching. No assists and slow D.
Turning an open 3 into a contested 2, not moving the ball, turning the ball over…
That Shump 3 from a minute ago
https://vine.co/v/iEwZxnP9zMV
Somebody needs to put a body on Big Smack… 10 boards in the first quarter!
Biyambo killing the Cavs. Might need some Moz this game.
So he can get all the rebounds instead of just most of them? We’re not gonna see Moz unless there’s foul trouble, an injury or garbage time…
A quarter to forget for Kyrie.
We got bad KI for sure. Forced shots, poor d and no assists
