Live Thread: Cavs vs. Wizards (#LueAgain)
2018-04-05With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers welcome back Head Coach Tyronn Lue after a nine game absence for health reasons. The team went 8-1 under interim Coach Larry Drew, but it has been reported that he was following the script laid out by Lue before he left. Ty has also been present for practices and shoot-arounds here and there over the past week.
Now that they have their coach back, all the Cavs are missing are their point guards. George Hill is still out with an ankle sprain, and now Jose Calderon will miss at least tonight’s game with some hamstring soreness. In response, Lue is inserting rookie Cedi Osman into the starting lineup. He’s also keeping Jeff Green as a starter, which will apparently be the case from here on out… even into the post-season.
Tyronn Lue says Cedi Osman will start tonight with Hill and Calderon out (meaning LeBron James will have plenty of ball handling duties vs WAS). He also said he plans to go with a starting front court of LeBron, Kevin Love and Jeff Green when the playoffs open up.

Obviously, there will be some dissenting views on whether or not this is a good idea. However, the Cavs are still 7-3 when Green starts, and he does have a knack for guarding star players well (i.e. DeMar DeRozan twice recently). Still, I hope Green starting does not mean he has a green light to shoot more threes…
The Wizards are struggling mightily, having lost six of their last eight games to fall to the 7th seed (if the playoffs started today). They did get John Wall back three games ago, yet they lost the last two contests, with Wall shooting just 9-27 from the field since he returned. The Cavs should be able to take advantage of Wall’s rustiness, although it may be a sloppy game without Hill or Calderon to keep order on the offensive side.
Prediction: The Cavs eek out a win in Lue’s first game back… edging the Wiz in an ugly game 95-89.
Catch all the action starting in just a few minutes (8pm EST) on TNT… and as always, chime in below.
Closing the quarter crappy.

NICE CUT AND FINISH LBJ!!!!! SHOULD”VE BEEN AND1!!! NICE PASS LOVE!
Bad to by green
Green with a TO & failure to get a loose ball.
Does Mahinmi never get called for fouls?
I guess ask and ye shall receive…
Green really doesn’t want to win
Sure looked like Bron got fouled on that drive…
Nance with 7 boards and TT with 0
Yet there were two minutes Nance went out when tt was playing. Lue is annoyingly stuck in his ways.
Morris daring LBJ to shoot….. not smart LOL.

LBJ JUST SCHOOLING FOOLS IN THE POST!
LBJ WITH THE PASS>>> KLOVE THREEE!!!!
Green very solid tonight. Props
WOW… LBJ missed an easy one there… I think he was surprised how open it was and not usual uncalled foul there.
GREEN WITH THE STEAL AND FASTBREAK!!!
Nice post pass from LBJ to Green for three!!!
KLOVE!!
Another strange miss by LBJ at the rim…
I hate that TT has played nearly an equal amount of minutes to nance. Stubbornness.

So conflicted about Green threes…
The thing is if he can start knocking them down we have a completely unstoppable lineup
Which is what we just saw on the love 3
It’s just that the made ones fool him into taking more of them… which he will invariably miss…
If he is going to play over nance, he pretty much has to hit them to justify it.
I feel you. I can take them from the corners and in the flow. Early & above the break = ugh.
As long as he’s not hesitating… so be it.
Wish Lue had James sat LeBron more than just 5 mins, but James probably checked himself back in
Getting real sloppy.
We get a comfortable lead & let up. 15 to 7 real quick.
Bad pass by KLOVE. Tentative… didn’t attack.
Lazy inbounds from Cavs… gotta recognize…
Green looks lazy not moving
He got knocked down on a screen… looked like he was favoring hip…
KLOVE WITH THE SOFT TOUCH IN THE PAINT!
Don’t get that pass by Green…He was wide open for a dunk
Terrible stretch there.
The weird substitution pattern there may have been a contributing factor.
Nice D Kev!
Damn… KLOVE nice hustle, but that was an ugly sequence.
Why is tt in instead of nance. Give up on him Lue. Stop being a blockhead.
NICE READ AND STEAL ON THE WEAKSIDE BY JR!!
Green got picked hard that time…
I don’t usually complain about Love being aggressive but when you’re getting triple teamed you need to pass the ball…somebody’s open…
Then he throws a terrible pass. Two.
Can’t block that!
Love forcing it down low. Amazing that is a sentence I’m allowed to say
Yikes… Love blocked twice on same possession…
That JR, Korver, Green, Nance, TT lineup was interesting. If blessedly short lived.
Love for Nance makes more sense. Still no real PG. Better spacing with 3 shooters.
Nance should be in instead of green or tt. The chemistry between love and him in the high low post was really nice for a few games earlier this year.
JR with the nice drive and finish!!!!

Damn… thought Korver was gonna make that! Nice pass JR.
JR’s drive game continues to surprise me…
Nice midrange J by Green.
Nice read by Korver… Green can’t make the open 3.
Clarkson with two nice steals. Would have been nice if he tried to draw a foul on the second. Also nance has such great balance on d. Keeps his butt low and moves laterally amazingly well for a big.
Nance with great onball defense on Oubre there. Forced the miss.
This is the horrid lineup. Tt & Nance together & now we add Green?
Yeah… defense was good though.
Yea with jr tt green nance no real spacing or scorer out there without k love or g hill to run the defense call out defensive schemes etc… really sucky lineup and keeping korver in there with these guys also a waste of time he plays so well with lbj when he gets space due to lbj drive so another question mark on the CLueless
Lineup holding serve despite its inherent ineptitude
LOL well said.
Long arm of the law… LNJ!
Bad decision Korver… had nice little open midrange there. CLARKSON WITH THE BIG TIME PLAY THO!!!
Ugh… Jeff Green threes…
Clarkson is not so “sneaky” athletic I guess. Wow.
Another good steal! Needed to be more patient though…
JC with the steal and the 360!
Unfortunate misscommunication there…
Cavs playing great but this second unit with jr tt without g hill sucks

NETS UP BY 2—-PACERS UP BY 20 OVER THE DUBS
Kevin Love’s stroke looks great. Korver is worth the money as a coach alone.
Yeah, was hoping for years they would bring in Mark Price as a shooting coach. Korver would do nicely.
YES!!! Also get Cedi right and we’ll be set for the future!
Looking like another triple double night. 10/5/5 already
I’d be ok with five minutes of the JR and Nance show
Awesome quarter. Cavs very sharp and Wiz defense like the Washington Generals.
LBJ BEASTIN IN THE PAINT!!!
Except for tos, that qtr couldn’t have gone better
Nice rim defense there again!!! Forced the miss!!!
Clarkson has a great first step and quick Change in direction. Sneaky athletic.
CLARKSON WITH A GREAT DRIVE AND FINISH!!!
Right now we look like a merry go round of parts that fit together. Endless waves of fresh legs. Really hope we can use that to our advantage in the playoffs
Judging by Lue’s past fear of playing anyone but 8-9 guys in the playoffs, I doubt it. He is real old school in his thinking. Only trusts certain guys when the games get tight.
