Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers
2018-04-06Cleveland heads to Philly with the No. 3 seed basically on the line. Of course Philly is without Joel Embiid after he broke his orbital bone, but Embiid did just clear the NBA concussion protocol. For the Cavs, they’re thin at the point guard spot, with Hill convalescing due to his ankle sprain, and Calderon out due to hamstring tightness.
My guess? The Cavs run the same starters they did last night, with Cedi starting out on Reddick in the Cavs’ “switch everything” defense (of course, Kyle Korver would look good there too). Hopefully, Kevin Love looks to be aggressive and isn’t as passive as he was in the second half last night and attacks Amir at the line and in the post. The Sixers will run their own unconventional lineup of Simmons, Reddick, Saric, Covington, and Amir Johnson.
Off the bench, Markelle Fultz isn’t looking too shabby with a solid floor game of 13 points, seven dimes, and seven assists per 36 minutes. Of course, he’s shooting just 38% from the field, so limiting him to being a “scorer” is a win. The Philly bench energy will be a factor again tonight, and will hound Jordan Clarkson when LeBron’s off the floor. Bellinelli bring outside shooting off the pine, and Richaun Holmes and McConnell bring energy. Matching that energy and closing out shooters will be key. Not so optimistic about that last part.
Prediction: playoff nerves limit the Sixers’ shooting from the outside, and the Cavs win a squeaker: 115-112.
James driving on Belinelli is one of the ultimate mismatches.
MARCO… LeBron Says “POLO!”
Lol…Lebron vs Bellinelli…
Lebron’s coming for everybody
LBJ is 4 of 6 from 3,
3 of 6 from line.
I will never understand his genius.
Cavs should press Simmons at half court he gets to far into paint
What happened to Hood? Back again?
sore Achilles.
I thought Lue was our Achilles.
Sore achilles
Bron going Nova.
Cedi needs to play even after Hill is back.
Within four. Unbelieveable.
UN.real. KING
Holy cow lebron
Make sure cedi gets some fluids!
Lue’s strategy. Lebron plays 48 minutes. Look confused. Win.
Hilarious game reminds me of pacers game in playoffs last year
four…
Get JR on the bench
Lebron has activated cheat code on their a$$es…
Cedi from the corner would have been great
LOL. Amir Johnson channeled his inner Tristan Thompson there.
Tough miss by Cedi. He has been out for 15 straight minutes though.
Haha Amir…
Seriously? They’re coming back? smh.
Get a fricking rebound, guys…
Osman is so friggin good!
Two GREAT stops by Cedi on Fultz, then a fantastic pass to LeBron for two freebies.
Jeff Green has become Curry at the line…
Go Cedi!
Jeff got two… he was gathering.
Not a great start to the 4th. TT doing an excellent job as #1 cheerleader on the bench though.
ARGH. Reddick took three steps before he put the ball on the floor and that’s what caused the foul.
If we win this game, I will never not believe again. I promise.
Lue looks like a genius on the Jeff Green thing. (See, a new leaf turned!).
LOL
Great play to start the quarter by the Sixers.
Cedi needs to keep playing. Lue needs to play him over JR.
Hell of a quarter by the King. Really loved Cedi’s D that quarter too. He is just so fundamentally sound. Doesn’t do anything stupid. That little three he set up for Kev was fantastic. Delly-esque.
Do they have enough gas to finish this?
That kind of foul from JR is frustrating…If you’re gonna bump a guy like that take out his arms so he can’t score…the chest bump foul under the basket is almost always an and1…
Well, the Cavs have a chance…no way I would have felt that in the first half…
Anyone just see M. Knight Shyamalan courtside?
Hopefully the twist in tonight’s plot is that the first half wasn’t real.
+1
LOL
JR, master of the touch foul…
Getting bad J.R. this game.
Six…
Nice D Jordan!
Man I wish the Cavs could’ve gotten one of Bellinelli or Ilyasova. They’ve been so huge for this team.
K-LOVE!
Cavs doing a good job of taking advantage of Bellinelli.
He’s a chair on D…
That Clarkson turnover was infuriating. Just pass it. You’ll get it back. Real momentum killer.
Yep. I just sort of expect crap like that with him…
Cannot try to go around the screen on Bellinelli.
Simmons with some dumb plays & sent to the bench. Time to strike.
GD it, Clarkson. Just pass the GD ball.
May as well scream at a cloud…
God Clarkson…infuriating…
Great setup for a Kev three, by Cedi!
This lineup scares me…
And right on cue, Clarkson turns it over
Here we gooooooo
Kyle Korver is amazing. Oldest guy, best transition defender.
Suddenly the lid is on the 76ers hoop.
Well, I’m back watching, so Cavs screwed me again…
Did not think this would get within single digits. But down to 7 now.
Seven…
Nine…
That was a terrible call.
LOL. 10 points. Korver back in the starting lineup is a wonder.
LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Cavs cut it to 15.
I ain’t fooled by Jeff green’s points- he is always discombobulated during switches and rotations on defense.
Ben Werth is so right.
Hood done for the night…bummer for him.
What happened?
Left achilles soreness being reported.
Ugh.. that sucks
Don’t mess with an Achilles.
A real coach would bench everyone. These guys ain’t trying.
HEY 4TH IS PROBABLY BETTER ANYWAYS —STAY AWAY FROM MIAMI—-LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE CAVS VS PACERS —JUST STAY HEALTHY—REST—-LOSE A COUPLE TO THE KNICKS —-FREE ANTE !!
The Pacers are crazy athletic.
Thought about bailing on the rest of this game, but I’m actually very interested to see how Cavs respond in the 3rd. Significant adjustments, more pressure, claw back into it with some character? Or continues carelessness with the ball?
Wow. This was crazy. Looks identical to thunder game. Although we got popped in the first half by someone recently and held em under 50 in the 2nd half. Oh wait…that was the Raptors lol
Well, that wasn’t fun. Cavs clearly not prepared to play. Cut it to 23 though. Outside chance of getting back in this, especially against a young team, but should probably accept the fact that the Cavs are the fourth seed. Indy losing tonToronto though.
Gotta say, i kinda prefer getting blown out if we’re gonna lose anyway. Was actually hoping Sixers scored 80.
The Cavs cut it to 23 at the half!
