The Cavaliers travel to Kevin Love’s old stomping grounds tonight to face the disgruntled Jimmy Butler and his pack of timid youths. After a rough first game for Love, I’m sure he will want to bounce back and have a big game against his former team. The Wolves, meanwhile, lost their first game to the Spurs in a tight 112-108 contest. The Cavs face a tough first two opponents in Toronto and Minnesota. It gets easier for a short home stint but they’ll have to test their new uptempo offense against a Western Conference powerhouse. At the time of this writing, Nance and JR are still questionable and the TWolves are missing Justin Patton so they are nearly at full strength. As always Go Cavs!

Yeah that was sad. Biggest issue with Wiggins as far as I can tell has always been 1. his effort/prep game to game 2. His complete distaste for defense and 3. His shot selection. If he cleans up all three he becomes a really good player me thinks.
Wonder if Cavs will give up 140+…I love their chances…

A definitive yes. They were the third seed last year when butler went down. If Towns and Wiggins learn to play average to good defense they could pretty much beat everyone but gs I think.
They have more talent than the Lakers…bet they deal Butler at some point, and they aren’t beating anyone if they do that…
Every time I swear at TT he does something good.
I expected the begining of the season to be rough, but there are good take aways already too. Love’s shot not falling but he has 4 assists and a ton of boards. Biggest thing however is Cedi putting up LeBron-lite stats. If the rest of the team steps it up we might actually not be as filled with holes without LBJ as much as everyone expects. I love that he gets his first double last game with rebounds and he might get his second in game 2 with assists (7 already).
Maybe he puts it all together for game 3 and gets his first triple double.
Definitely has that capability. His vision is a revelation. Literally the only excellent play maker we have.
Agreed. Ive loved the guy for his hustle and defense since I saw him, but his passing vision has taken a massive leap forward.

How is Mirotic. Was shocked by his line in game 1? If Mirotic becomes a truly deadly third option, they are going places.

Wowser. Yeah with Holiday and Davis they have two elite defenders as starters. With those guys they have an MVP caliber player and a legit two way second. If Mirotic plays like this….they could turn some heads out west.

I think he needs the ball in different spots. There have been zero elbow sets that I have seen in game one or now. Getting people to constantly cut really helped him in Minny I think by not only giving him passing lanes, but also drawing the defenses attention. He gets in trouble when the d is focused on him in ISO/postup or anywhere under the bucket. Make the d move constantly and you may get better production from him.

Said this team might be competing by surprising some teams with effort/pace. Unfortunately that surprise seems to only last for the first qtr.

They do have a great offense and play out west. If butler and co are not at each other’s throats and butler is putting forth maximum effort, this was going to be tough. How many steals/tips etc did they have?

Could be a exposure/real wake up call on Love this season. Like the dude. Like his professionalism and he was part of 2016, but not sure he is the same player he was in Minny. He also had Rubio to pass, an Adelman offense, and that lumbering hulk (can’t remember his name) to rim protect, box out, and defend massive centers for him.

He is bad. But I don’t think sexton and Clarkson can coexist. Also, we just have no one to duplicate the positives Cedi brings when he is on the bench.

Cedi with great vision. Lue waited too long to bring him back. I think this team will only score efficiently when he is on the floor. Only one who can get easy shots or set others up.
