Live Thread: Cavs @ Wizards
2024-02-07Your scorching hot Cleveland Cavaliers travel to the nation’s capital tonight to take on the 9-40 Washington Wizards. Battling complacency will be key for Cleveland, as they take on a squad actively trying to lose basketball games. Ty Jerome is the only Cavalier out, while the Wizards will be without Isaiah Livers and Marvin Bagley III. It will be interesting to see what the teams do with the trade deadline just a day away. These are the games where guys get pulled at halftime due to trade talk, or conversely get featured to pump their trade value.
Guys to watch for the Wiz include Tyus Jones, Kyle Kuzma, Daniel Gafford, Delon Wright, Cory Kispert, and the perpetually traded Landry Shamet. I’ve heard only Bilal Coulibaly is safe from trade talk as the Washington is in full on asset acquisition mode. Guys auditioning for other teams are going to play hard, so watch out, Cleveland! Predicting a comfortable but not outrageous win for the win and gold. Go Cavs!
Rolo soon to be on the market… do we get an encore performance? Until tt gets back?
I don’t feel like the knicks moves do much in the balance. Thibadaeu teams tend to peak around tho point in the season. Of course, if Derrick rose doesn’t wreck both his knees, who knows. But, certainly did what they could to get better and didn’t have to give up much. Some of these moves just seemed like apron moves.
OUCH THE KNICKS JUST GOT ALOT BETTER—-GOING AFTER THE CELTS
………..” AND THE BEAT GOES ON” ———— PERFORM ED HERE BY BUCKAROO ——— ORIGINALLY /SONNY -CHER
Thunder nearing trade for Gordon Hayward.
Ogbaji and Olynyk to the Raptors
Buddy Hield to Sixers.
If NO hang on, the loss column looks like:
12: Boston
————
16: OKC, Minny, Denver (35 wins); Clips (34); Cavs (33).
————-
We can catch the Clips with a win in Brooklyn tomorrow night (knock on wood). Also, Bucks host Minny and Denver visits LeBron.
Pistons beat the Kings in Sactown tonight.
Pels up 14 in LA on the Clips with 4 min left.
Wolves getting Monte Morris is a sneaky good minor move. Some PG help behind Conley.
DM averaging a 40+ burger every six games.
and the beat goes on.. somebody sang that..
The Hawks lost in Boston tonight, but kept it close. Murray DNP. Gotta be close on a trade.
GLAD YOU HAD A GOOD TIME PATRICK 👍🏀
👍🏻😎
DG REALLY HASNT HAD COMPLETE — GOOD GAME YET——-EVERYONE IN MY “ BASKETBALL “ WORLD FIRMLY BELIEVE IF THE CAVS KNEW SPIDA WOULD SIGN OR HAD SIGNED AN EXTENSION—- DG WOULD BE GONE
He is the most tradeable of the Core 4, IMHO. He melted down in the POs (except for one great game) and has not been good at any ooint this year.
JA started slow but has really come on. DM has not shot the ball from deep as well as last year,,but has shown he can be the lead dog on a rzmpaging regular season team. And Mobley has been inconsistent but is showing some development from deep, in playmaking, and has the occaisional scoring ouburst. He & JA remain elite defenders
I would let this year play out with DG. And the rest of the team. If we can pickup up piece for cheap/nothing or in the buyout market (another big, big wing/F, shooting C, backup PG) I might take a look. But we already have 10-11 guys who deserve to play and JB is struggling to play them.
Tough, but fun, game in my hometown arena. Asked a young kid in row in front of me who the two best Wizards are. He said Poole and Kuzma. Asked his favorite, he paused and then said Kuzma. (Fortunately for him). My friend and I tried to convince him he needs to be a “Mobley” (say it slow and fairly loud, say it proud) fan after each score. We had a good time saying “check the scoreboard” whenever the lead flipped. Should have been a blowout, but they got it done. Thank you DM who managed to draw a few… Read more »
EMONI WITH A ROUGH NIGHT 1 / 12 ——OuCH
What was encouraging was that when the team was struggling, JB didn’t shorten his bench and actually played Merrill for a significant portion of the 4th quarter. Also, Garland looks really rusty out there. Overall, a really sloppy game, but a good win bc you gotta win ugly sometimes.
I like Sam w the Big 4. Hope that group plays more together.
Me too – really liked having him out there bc his gravity is real. I think there were 2 open layups because the help defender needed to stick to him. Also, as we’ve all been discussing, his D is solid.
Merrill should play significant minutes. No one wants to state obvious but he is playing much better than garland.
NETS / RAPTORS MAY HAVE ROSTER CHANGES BEFORE WE PLAY THEM———- WHO KNOWS 1 OF THEIR PLAYERS ( NETS ) COULD BE A CAV
don’t hold your breath waiting on that
WE HAVE BEEN SPOILED LATELY—— STILL WON AN “ UGLY “ GAME——- ANY CHANCE CAVS COULD PURSUE KISPERT ——— NATE MENTIONED WRIGHT EARLIER/ WHO WOULD ALSO BE A SOLID CHOICE—— KEEP IT GOING “ YOUNG “ CAVS
Cavs win!! Weird game, not everyone in sync together. But we have Donovan so…
Cavs are now 7 games over .500 on the road (15-8). No one else is better than +6.
Mobes is up to 41% on triples for the year (7/17).
I have to say, that even on extremely low volume, that fact that we are inhabiting a universe where Okoro is at 38% on threes and Mobley is at 41%, after 50 games, is a universe a never thought I’d be in.
wow! that is what we have been waiting for. recall a couple months ago how many people were saying EM and JA couldn’t play together?
Continued good signs for Mobes. DM earns his big bucks. Guys worked hard and got it done despite no one being on from outside.
Bummer news for former Cav Scot Pollard. Hope for the best for him:

Poole fouls out after being booed by his own fans.
Love this stupid team.
Better mins distribution from JB seems to be continuing…10 deep. But wade with only 12 is weird and he is still trying to kill mitchell when he could for sure play garland with CPJ for a stretch and probably improve the d. This win was very early season cavs. Nothing like they have morphed into
True enough.
But Mobley was 9/10 and 2/2 from deep. We did not see that too much early.
Also, Merrill played 4th quarter minutes and Ice got a late clutch bucket and was a team high on +/-.
We played with our food some. Allen, Strus, LeVert, and DG were not great. Spida & Mobley were great.
You can count me in the camp that heavily doubts JB come playoff time. Scouting and defense has become so meaningless during the regular season that it is hard to tell what is found money and what is “no one we played cared enough to prepare this week”.
I think with garland and mobley out we got found gold. With them back…can JB remember what worked?
Scotch still hanging in with the “Glass half empty” theory. becoming a lonely neighborhood.
will demand a recount if JB wins the COY gold.
hopefully, but so far DG is stinking up the gym. when he comes around, look out!
JB another successful challenge…
I’m saying.
Good enough; gotta get the gritty ones sometimes. All W’s count the same
It’s the night before the trade deadline. Everyone is nervous or auditioning. First night of b2b. Its just one of those games.
good point
