Getting below the apron to sign him would take a wrecking ball to the roster. And gone are the days when Bron was worth that. Even more so if one consider’s you have to be under AFTER the transaction. He could hard cap us at the first apron in some scenarios.
Now, getting under the 2nd apron is feasible. But that MLE is like $6 mil.
but he might well play for the absolute minimum because he will more than make up for it with streaming the tour. what will the apron situation be if LeBron plays for the minimum (not sure what that is), and the Cavs don’t sign Wade, or trade Strus for peanuts?
Recently LeBron has been taking pretty sharp actual haircuts. A bit more aerodynamic?

Wade and Ellis are FA’s that could be more expensive. Strus & Schröder are the guys who make a significant chunk who could free up more space. $30 mil between them.

The Cavs have a +4.1 point differential this year. Net rating of +4.0.
I have seen a lot of noise about us not playing well with JA & Mobes sharing the court,,but we are +6.6/100 when they do.
Of our top 20 2 man combos,,by minutes, only 4 are under +4.0 net, and they all involve Hunter & Garland: DG/Spida +3.3, DG/JA +0.7, Hunter/Spida +0.3, Hunter/Tyson -1.7.
Last year, the team net was +9.5.
Allen & Mobley were +12.7.
So, Bron definitely coming back and we will have to dump…Schroder and Strus and Wade? …to get access to the MLE?
Maybe fewer if Harden takes an insanely back loaded 3 year deal?
And probably Ellis. That ain’t worth it.
He will have to sign for less. No way do I let Wade walk. Ellis is a fantastic defender within certain size limitations. I’d be loathe to let him go.
Schröder/Strus? One for sure but both are under contract.
We are $1 mil under the 2nd apron with 11 guys for next year. Including CPJ (team option, at $2.5 mil). Wade, Ellis, Bryant, & LNJ the FA’s.
If we can stay under the 2nd apron, we could use the taxpayer MLE for $5 mil.

All star Saturday was kind of a dud. Give em a pass for going up against the Olympics which NBC also owns. Kind of felt like an own goal there. That being said, the three point contest was one of the best I’ve watched with Lillard winning despite being injured all year. Mitchell had a decent first round (27) but was edged by a point for the final.
Sucked that it was so early. Done by like 4:30 is crazy.

Yep. We need some shooting. We are 15th in 3PT% despite Tyson & Merrill sitting 2nd & 3rd in the league and Mitchell shooting a respectable 37.6% while leading the league in attempts and makes. Only Tyson & Merrill are above 40%. Well, Harden is, but he’s been here 3 games. CPJ is the only other rotation guy over 35%.
Tyson 47.5%, Merrill 47.2%, Harden 42.1%, CPJ 37.7%, Mitchell 37.6%, DG 36.0%, Proctor 35.0%, Bryant 34.7%, Wade 34.0%, Ellis 33.3%, LNJ 33.3%, Hunter 30.8%, Mobley 30.4%, Ball 27.2%, Tomlin 21.8%, Schröder 13.3%, Allen 11.1%.
Hopefully things will tick up. Merrill has missed a lot of time and he is 2nd behind Spida in attempts per game. If he is taking more and others are taking less, our percentage will go up.
Harden is matching DG in attempts per game on a higher %, and hopefully his better passing & gravity gets better looks for others.
Hunter was 4th in attempts per game, Ball 6th. Hopefully those shots get redistributed to better shooters. And Schröder steps out of the freezer.
