Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers

Don’t be alarmed… there is no need to adjust your screen. This is not a jailbreak or a hijack situation. The C:tB crew have just graciously allowed me to help them cover the occasional live thread and recap as the Cavs enter the stretch run of the season… so let’s have some fun!
The Cavs pull into the Bankers Life Fieldhouse after putting the brakes on the high-octane Warriors in convincing fashion last night, but in need of a pit stop with both Kyrie and LeBron out for injury and rest respectively. Unfortunately, the Pacers have been hard charging of late, powered by the surprising Rodney Stuckey and having also run over the Warriors before getting lapped by the Thunder in OKC on Tuesday. They’ve been off since then and have been tuning up for their showdown with the (now depleted) Cavs.
Even though the wine and gold machine owe this Pacers crew one for spinning them out of their earlier win streak, this will be a tall order without two of their big three tonight. But never fear… Rudy is here! Delly gets his chance to run David Blatt’s motion offense for an extended period of time (let’s hope it’s not 48 minutes) and the opportunity to answer even his harshest critics… or not. Cavs will also need big games from KLove, Moz, JR, TT and Shump, as well as probably some extended time from the Champ and Perk.
This tilt had “let down game” written all over it being the second night of a back-to-back, following an emotional victory over the best team in the NBA on national television… and that was before it was official that both Kyrie and LBJ would be on the shelf. But maybe the Pacers will be a victim of overconfidence… What the heck… I’ll say Cavs edge the Pacers at the finish line… 93-92.

KLove is a brutal 4-13… but Delly is a bit worse at 4-17… Not a good shooting night…
Klove should really be shining tonight. Plan should be him in post all night.
Concede the game and spend the entire fourth quarter delivering brutal fouls. Perkins, Shump, Mozzy — guys with muscle and a mean streak. Tune these turds up.
Nah, someone might get hurt. Let’s just shoot nonstop threes and either win or break the record for missed threes in a game.
We are shooting less than 35%. Wow. Maybe Lebron and Kyrie are good.

Pacers are playing like they should.. They are trying to get to the playoffs. Cavs are just playing the schedule.
Only hope is if JR, KLove and Champ can shoot the Cavs back into this one…

Have to give them credit they really play great defense. Cavs can’t get a score… Cavs can’t even get a drive to the basket.

Cavs have missed about a half dozen shots at the rim… not because of Pacer D… just missed easy shots… That’s the biggest difference…
I thought so too. It seems they were looking for foul shots rather than making a basket. Strange body language too.
I wish they’d test run the offense flowing through Love the entire second half. See if he can be the star on the floor he’s supposed to be. Surround him with shooters and see what happens.

Observations -this team wouldn’t even be this close without timo shumpert and smith -delly should not take 14 shots ever. Certainly not in a half -love misses the open lanes Kyrie and lbj create just be existing on the court -smith is much better defensively than I thought -I’m glad the players take off time. Especially seeing rose going down for the Bulls. Let’s not get too greedy here blatt and keep sitting players when you want -didn’t think stuckey could go nova against cavs but he just might light up the second half -if Paul George can return for… Read more »
Would disagree on two points… Delly’s shots were within the offense and open more often than not… you have to shoot when you’re open.
Secondly, Blatt made a wise move to sit LBJ… I don’t question it for a second.

The offense moved the ball a little less there in the 2nd quarter…. led to some easy points. Would still like to see Blatt try out Harris for some offense. Guys are hanging in there!!! Let’s go Cavs!
Decent score considering we’re shooting 35%. If Delly starts to distribute and JR starts shooting we’ll be ok.
And Love, who is only 3 for 10 off mostly pretty good looks.
Delly should be playing 10 minutes a night. I realize we have two starters out, but there is never a scenario where 14 Delly shots in a game is OK, LET ALONE THE FIRST HALF.
I wouldn’t play him again. He’s getting abused.
Who exactly would you have handle the ball Gordon? Delly is their best option at the moment…
JR Smith. He can beat a man off the dribble, create his own shot, and pass.
You don’t have to have a PG distributor in the game to win. It clearly isn’t working considering we’re down.
JR and Shumpert can handle the ball in limited doses, not for 48 or 24 minutes.
And then I look at his stat line I look like an idiot.

I don’t know, before that last made shot we were within 3 on the road against a hot Indianapolis team . . . with Delly as the point guard. I think he got tired.
