Live Thread: Cavs @ Rockets

The Cavs are playing their third installment of their tour of the Texas triangle with a matchup with the middling Houston Rockets. The Rockets went from being in the conference finals last season to trading for a drunk, firing their coach, and currently stand seventh in a surprisingly shallow Western conference. The Rockets (21-19), have won six of their last ten, and have slowly picked up steam from their slow start.
The game will mark the last of the Cavs six game road trip, their longest of the season. They’ve been road warriors thus far winning four of five after coming up short against the Spurs in the fourth quarter when they were obviously running on fumes from the OT thriller two nights before in Dallas. Coming into their contest with the Rockets, the Cavs have racketed up the frequent flyer miles with 4,590 miles on the trip. Hopefully, the team will have a little left in the tank.

Cavs bench is like +1M right now…
Last year watching the Cavs I’d hold my breath when Bron and Kyrie were off the floor and just hope the second unit could kill a few minutes. Now I expect the bench squad to make real gains.
KI seems to be having his minutes limited in the B2B; He only had 13 in the 1st half.
He’s been pretty efficient though… 4-5

I think Kevin Love is frustrated with his offense. I hope that he uses that frustration for some positive purpose.
The Cav’s have won the entire team boxscore. Better FG%, better FT%, better 3pt%, more OReb, more Dreb, more Total Reb.(obv.), more assists, more steals, more blocks, less turnovers and more points.
Bob Harder is having a really bad game so far… 1-7 (0-4 from three) for nine points and five turnovers…
Just mentioned that JR and Shump have done a really good job defending him… hope they can keep it up!
This is the 3rd time I watch the Rockets this year and I am shocked. Last year they were pretty fun to watch and they were giving a crap. This year it is plain embarassing. No effort whatsoever. Everybody playing for their stats and Ariza and Beverley the only ones trying to play basketball. I just cant get my head around it.

I don’t want to give excessive credit to the Cavs D, but holding any opponent to 35 at the half is pretty good.
Mozerati and Andy have been playing great defense in the paint. Also, JR and Shump have played great defense on Harden.
No doubt that the Cavs were very good on D, Harden’s wearing a clown suit; if not for free throws from phantom fouls he’s only have two points. But the Rockets also missed out on points by missing several easy shots.
