Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls

LeBron James is to the Chicago Bulls, what Michael Jordan was to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Those Price-era Cavs teams played cohesive team basketball, but the song remained the same every year as they had no match for a generational talent like Jordan. Believe me, there’s plenty of aspects to LeBron’s career, and his Magic 8-Ball personality that you can criticize, but he has absolutely owned the Bulls. A LeBron led team has booted the Bulls from the playoffs in four of the past six seasons.
On the surface, this is a meaningless game. The Raptors aren’t going to catch the Cavs for the top seed in the conference, and the Bulls aren’t going to catch the Pacers for the last. A Cavs win, will lock both of those scenarios though, and could end the Rose-era Bulls run years before we would have expected.
Tonight’s showdown airs at 8:30 on ABC. Let’s dish.

I hated that it was rushed… falling away and that JR seemed to spend more energy trying to get the foul call than trying to actually hit the shot…

A mediocre team wanted it more and the Cavs shrugged and said “ah, what are we doing Saturday night.” It happens too often with this team…
I disagree… Bulls were fighting for their playoff lives… and the sad part is that the Cavs were actually trying pretty hard…
Well they should execute along with trying when playing a team they should beat by 20. “Fighting for their playoff lives?” This team just lost to the Grizzlies by 16. They quit on Hoiberg weeks ago.
They’re still alive for the playoffs… and this is the team that knocked them out last year… not a surprise they got up for it…
Sure they should execute, but they gave effort, and that’s the scary part… it’s not like they just phoned it in… they couldn’t convert when it meant the most, which doesn’t bode well…

True… but unless Shump really means that much to the defense (and maybe he does), this team has much bigger flaws than it did last year… and that’s legitimately concerning…
That is what I have been thinking … Most teams in the Cavs position that are real contenders make a the next level jump in year 2. The Cavs are actually clearly worse than post ASB last season, which is why I disagree with the Colses of the world that everything is fine.
True, but normally real contenders don’t have to deal with season ending injuries to 2 of their best 3 players after less than a full year playing together. So, could they be better? Of course. But they are still poised to enter the playoffs as the #1 team in their conference. I’ll take that every year.
Also, the Cavs lost to the Grizzlies D-League team a few weeks ago… does that mean they quit on Lue?

Not sure I agree with that, but they definitely are not likeable. If I was a season ticket holder this year it would be the last.
