Live Thread: Cavs @ 76ers
2016-11-05The Cavs are in Philly tonight to take on the winless 76ers. Cleveland, 5-0, is the only undefeated team in the NBA right now. There is little chance Philly, 0-4, will pull off an upset, despite having some interesting young pieces on the floor this season.
Sixers center Joel Embiid has been an animal anytime he gets a chance to play. He has great footwork offensively and knows how to get to his spots down low for easy buckets. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 2.7 blocks, and 6.3 boards in 21 minutes a night. Point guard Sergio Rodriquez, who used to play in Spain, has been averaging 7.5 assists, and is a big reason why Philly’s offense has been decent for some stretches during games.
The Cavs should be able to dismantle the Sixers with ease. Philly has no one that can stop Kyrie Irving or LeBron James one-on-one. And, if Cleveland wants to include the rest of the team by running pick and rolls and finding the weak side man for 3s, Brett Brown may cry. Against the Hawks, one of the more pass happy teams in the league, Philly lost by 32 points.
The Cavs can coast to a win, but Tyronn Lue should use this game to make sure the Cavs are executing how they need to be defensively. He should make it a goal to hold the Sixers to under 80 tonight.
In other news, LeBron James will pass Hakeem Olajuwon (26,945 points) on the all time scoring list for the tenth spot as long as he scores at least two points.
Ersan Illyasova will play tonight for the Sixers after coming over from the Thunder mid-week. He will be needed because Nerlens Noel is out. Philly is also without Jerryd Bayless tonight.
Lastly, get your Cavs:The Blog shirts. We need to get a total count, so we can figure out the pricing. They look awesome. Follow the this link or click the picture for more information.
Why are we not using the beginning of the season to work out our new guys. Felder isn’t getting any experience right now that will help when we might need it most. Also, c’mon TLue, he’s dead weight on my Fantasy Basketball bench.
This might have had something to do with the off night…

LBJ has a shot to pass Shaq for 7th by year end…

I know staying healthy is the number one priority for the Cavs but I would like to see the Cavs catch that number one overall seed if possible.
It would seem that they’re well on their way…
Just been box score watching… My first guess about Kyrie’s bad game is that he must’ve been tired tonight… I don’t understand why T. Lue doesn’t allow Felder to go at Stauskas or McConnell. Good to see KLOVE with a great game along with LBJ.
Agreed. Not playing Felder or Birdman vs Philly more is a head scratcher. Glued to the bench
Good point about Birdman… I would’ve brought him in to intimidate Embiid and Okafor.
He’s probably a little too slow for either of them…
OK GRANDKIDS JUST WENT HOME CHECKED THE BOX SCORE WOW —-STILL SOMEWHAT CONFUSED AT THE ” BIRDMAN “—” KILLER SHRIMP ” NO SHOWS IN THE LAST 3-4 GAMES —WHY DID WE GET /DRAFT THEM JUST TO SIT THE BENCH—-?—–THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO LIMIT MINUTES ALSO —TY WAITING TO LOSE THAT 1ST GAME AND THEN START PLAYING THE OTHER GUYS SOME MINUTES —-BUCKS LOOKING GOOD SO FAR !1
Embiid better learn how to control himself out there… the way he bulls around, he’s gonna wind up hurt more than healthy…
Idk. The one foul that had love on the floor was cause ilyasova pushed him into Joel. But the Lebron foul was just dumb.
I was talking more about him running over Shump or turning his ankle bulling into the lane on JR…
I think in any one year, you can count the number of mediocre games LeBron has one one hand. Unbelievable consistency
Exactly and that is why he is always an MVP candidate.
I wish Philly still had that dude Furkan Aldemir…
Philly is a great sports market. Really hope the Sixers grow into a good team, wish ’em well. Cavs undefeated!!
They have pieces (lots of bigs) they can use to trade for the players they really need.
Noel to Boston seems like a no Brainer for a guy like rozier.
Damn… it seems like a no-brainer… but I really like Rozier. I was surprised he went so early in the draft. I thought there was a chance the Cavs could swoop him up that year.
Buried on that team though.
Good point… and questionable move by Stevens.
Wait… you don’t mean…
This guy!

(sorry Mike P!)
EXACTLY EG LOL!!!! I mean, playing a two headcases like Green and Smart ahead of Rozier??? PER says Smart is complete garbage and Green is no better than Rozier. Rozier has at least upside and growth potential.
EG, when I said “now just stop” I meant one more stop for the Cavs, Not stop on the Stevens pic. I dislike him too. This picture of Stevens looks like Michael Douglass in Falling Down. Sorry you misconstrued my comment.
Ha! No worries Mike!
No way Danny Ainge does that…he needs to totally rip off a team to pull the trigger. So he’ll stay stuck with all his crappy parts because no one wants to get screwed by Danny.
LeBron put up 25-14-8. Kyrie took a dump on the court.
Agreed, LeBron put those numbers with not that much effort. He is amazing.
Three big defensive plays (and one dumb turnover) late.
Sixers are super annoying, and constructed the complete opposite of the better teams in the league right now. They are the Kings of the east. Lots of talent, but mismatched pieces
Kings are a train wreck.
Good night Philly! Cavs, work on a trade for Sergio!
He would be an awesome back up PG. That guy is proven.
Just looked. He makes 8 million. Too rich for Dan’s blood, probably.
Henderson is nuts if he thinks he’s getting a blocking foul with 2 seconds left in the game…
Never a doubt… ;)
I know LeBron would like for Kyrie to win an MVP but he still has lots to learn…
His D was great even though his shot wasn’t falling… there’s gonna be off nights, and he struggles against the Sixers historically for some reason…
I know and I agree with you but to be honest Kyrie is not MVP material yet.
He has to learn to make others better and other things. Don’t get me wrong I would love for him to get one but he still needs to learn a few more things.
He’s 24… If LBJ thinks he can be MVP, then I’ll go with the King’s reasoning…
If Kyrie adds better passing and learns to run the offense better he will be. LeBron is just doing (saying) the right thing like he always does… Being “politically correct” in terms of Kyrie’s MVP chances. I understand that.
JR with the Shump strip!
Championship level defense right there!
BALL GAME!!
