Live Thread: Cavs @ Pistons (#Bandages)
2017-11-20The Cavs head back out on the road again tonight to the Motor City after a quick pit stop last Friday at home in an overtime thriller against the Clippers. They’re down yet another rotation piece with Iman Shumpert now set to miss about a week with a sore knee. However, LeBron maintains that the team has enough healthy members to keep things going…
“It’s good to know that we have depth,” James said after today’s shootaround. “It’s very difficult and it’s very challenging not only on the guys that’s on the court but on the coaching staff, trying to figure out. Sometimes you get a rhythm and then another guy goes down, so, that’s what we’re here for. We have the depth to be able to try to bandage it up until we can all become full.”
Let’s hope he’s right about that. Who knows, maybe Coach Lue will even let newcomers Cedi Osman and John Holland (just called up from the Charge to swap seats with Ante Zizic) assist with the triage. They’ll most likely need something if interim starting PG Jose Calderon makes a mess of the first quarter. Still, the Cavs have managed to win four in a row and five of their last six even with the dwindling numbers of able bodies lost to the MASH unit. They’ve also been better on the road (5-3) than at home (4-4) and seem to get up for tougher opponents. The Pistons are a surprising 11-5 on the year, although they are playing on the second night of a back-to-back following a tight victory over the Timberwolves.
I haven’t made a prediction to date this year, but I’ll go out on a limb here and say the Cavs dig deep into their first aid kit and patch together an impressive win over the tired Pistons tonight… 112-108.
Catch all the action on FSO starting at 7pm EST, and don’t forget to share your views here on the live thread…
GO CAVS!
Just saw Cavs outscoring opponents by 1.1 points per 100 possessions when LeBron sits. Last year we were outscored by 8.5. Here’s to the best second unit in the NBA
Koby is not looking so dumb lately.
It helps when star signing Derrick Rose doesn’t play.
Wow. That was a butt-whoopin. Best wire to wire game of the year. You can tell the games that LeBron cares about.
JR Smith… The pointe guarde

Looking forward to the Brad Stevens regular season genius narratives after we take Boston in a gentleman’s sweep
He’s a good coach who I’m quite sure I’d be a fan of if not for the extremely premature and excessive slobber-job by the national media who dubbed him President Genius right out of the gate…
Not sure you can say that right now. If Boston is competitive or beats gs again this season while shutting them down defensively, they will win more than two games against the cavs in the playoffs, guaranteed. First game maybe gs wasn’t up. If they lose to Boston again or it comes down to the wire, Boston is ready to do some serious damage in the playoffs this year, because you know Golden State will try to get revenge the second time around. That will be the litmus test for how they will fare against the cavs I think. Beat… Read more »
Reply is for RDE
Or their just a bad matchup for golden state and will still get killed by the cavs because switching doesn’t help you when Lebron is the guy you switch onto. Plus kyrie…oh man is Lebron gonna abuse him.
I doubt they are any worse a matchup for GS than for the cavs, because what you just said about LBJ definitely applies to Durant and yet the result was still a loss. The difference being you can’t double GS very well. I would say you can double LBJ with our current personnel and get away with it more than you could double Durant with GS’s personnel. Nobody has really tried to double LBJ this year but I think it is a good strategy against our team. If you reply LBJ will just find an open man, then I would… Read more »
Of course I can say that right now… because I choose not to be a prisoner of the moment… Just like you can’t say how many games they would or wouldn’t win against the Cavs in the playoffs…
Damn. Mavs with not quite enough. Getting better, though. Had chances.
Still think the Celtics will hit a rough patch soon. Teams will start making those shots when up 4 instead of missing.
Dirk missed a couple of backbreakers in the OT…
So who’s gonna be or Kyrie stopper in the playoffs?
LeBron
Perkins.
I don’t remember Kyrie getting these kinds of calls in a Cavs uniform…
Seriously
Kyrie pretty unstoppable this game…
Harrison Barnes is a lot better as a Maverick…
Overtime for Mavs/Celts
Good chance Kyrie will hit a game winner against the mavs
I have a question. When TT comes back, how much should he play? The 2nd unit is humming with Wade at the helm & Frye at C. If Love can hold his own vs guys like Drummond & Crowder starts clicking, I don’t think you mess with the starters outside PG.
Granted, Frye will struggle sometimes as will Love. But if it ain’t broke….
Depends on what version of TT comes back… last year’s or this early season’s…
TV says we are 7-0 when Crowder scores double figures.
Makes sense

Magic have fallen back to earth… losing to the Pacers
Knicks blowing out the Clips… just a matter of time before they start selling off pieces…
Next up… revenge game against the Nets…
Charlotte gets to 7 wins. Bottom of the league:
Nets 6. Clippers 5. Kings 4 (play later). Bulls, Hawks, & Mavs. Mavs only down 1 to Boston.
Kyrie hasn’t missed a shot yet… 7-7, 3-3 from deep… here’s hoping that jinxes him…
Cavs have been on nice roll…could see another blowout
Cavs are third in the NBA in FT% as a team at 82.1%… went 16/17 again tonight…
Tied for second after tonight at 82.6% with Portland… behind only Utah (83.6%)
The ball has moved much better with “straight to the hole” DRose on the bench. And no http://www.pleasestopdribblingshump.com too.
Up to 4th in the east. One game behind Detroit for 3rd.
Cavs just jumped into top 4 in EC…
This was a really positive game for Crowder too…
Amen. Both he & Calderon were really good.

Gotta beat the Nets at home next game.
We should go on a revenge mindset.
Cedi was holding his own against kennard who was pistons lottery pick this year…yikes for Detroit ?
Cedi could have been a lotto pick last draft.
Great win!
KLove was +30 tonight…
Awesome win! Go cavs!
5 game winning streak!
He made one!
CALDERON SKY HOOK!!
