Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers
2017-11-27These aren’t your slightly younger self’s Sixers anymore. Gone is the team that was the bottom feeder of the league, and in their place is a team that sports the probable rookie of the year, Jonathan Simmons, a legit MVP candidate in 23-year-old phenom, Joel Embiid, a knock-down three point gunner in J.J. Redick, and undrafted wunderkind Robert Covington. Throw in Dario Saric a deep bench that features T.J. McConnell shooting 57 % from three, Jerryd Bayless, and a slew of other young talent, and you’ve got the makings of a team that is going to be very good for a very long time.
That isn’t even counting the first overall pick of the draft, Markelle Fultz who hasn’t even played in a game this year.
Tonight will be a tall order for Kevin Love, who will have to bang with Embiid and then chase him out to the three point line. Embiid is making just 28% out there, so token pressure is a good idea. But make no mistake, the Sixers are revved up to play the Cavs. Key to beating them will be matching their work on the boards, where they’re first in the league, and playing solid defense, as the Sixers move the ball really well.
Simmons missed last game with “left elbow soreness,” but is expected to play. J.R. Smith missed the shootaround today due to the death of his cousin, but is also expected to play. In other injury news, Isaiah Thomas is “steps away” from playing again. according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, and has his sights set on the Christmas day game against the Warriors according to his kids.
Should be a fun one tonight. I’m betting the Cavs look to make a statement, and pull away late with a 109-105 victory.
Nets hanging around in Houston, only down 9. Pistons with a slim lead on Boston. Mavs up double digits on SA.
Minutes for the rotation: Bron 31, JR 27, Love 24, Calderon 22, Crowder 20; Wade 24, Green 27, Korver 21, Frye 18.
Good stuff with a game tomorrow.
37-12 run for the Cavs after Sixers cut it to three…
This might replace last week’s Pistons win as the most complete win of the season…
Pistons are way better than the sixers though. I guess maybe the back to back for them balances these two games a bit
I think the Sixers have more talent, especially at positions that are tougher for Cavs to guard typically…
Pistons fading a bit offensively. They certainly weren’t playing all that well when we played them. The cavs really played tremendous d for most of tonight.
8 game win streak!
This should do wonders for the Cavs season DIFF…
Sixers were 2-26 from three until that last bucket…
That’s crazy…I think Covington was 0-9 all by himself.
Has everyone scored save for Shump & Calderon?

23-9 this quarter…
Man Philly just started panicking and jacking up ill-advised threes…
http://www.rugbytravelireland.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Holland.jpg
Hah! I like it.
Pretty confident stroke.
Love getting some garbage pts late. Zizic & Holland & Cedi.
HOLLAND!
Here comes the third unit!
Plus minus for Wade, Korver, Green, & Frye: +21, +22, +23, +23.
I wonder how often four bench guys combine for +89?
That C cut the Cavs run is so damned good. They ran through it with Korver and Then JR trailing behind it there.
Cavs balling as well as anyone right now wirh a 37 year old starting point guard and a power forward who can’t find the basket.
Covington has killed the Sixers tonight…what a hideous game…lot of terrible shots, too….
again blowout cuz Cavs are unstoppable
Yo, Cols!
We cannot get a rebound.Philly is 2/23 from deep. 21 O boards.
Philly = Still Processing…
Great ball movement leads to an easy Love corner three…

Korver’s movement makes this whole offense go. He might be the best wing at moving without the ball in the NBA.
Does Philly wave the white flag?
They should now with a 20 point deficit…
This might be the most balanced minutes all around in a non-blowout…
La Flama Blanca just one point away from giving the second unit four double digit scorers…
And remember that Lue had Frye out of the rotation. He just has to keep getting minutes
Embiid gets away with soooo much.
It’s stupid…most players need to be touched to draw the foul…
Is this normal? I haven’t watched him play much yet. He’s really good, but he’s getting major superstar calls.
To be fair… these refs are a festering pustule…
Airballs all around. Wade block & King 3. Up 17.
Lebron again clowning Sixers….if not for ridic fouls this would be 25 point game easy
Cavs playing 5-on-8 and still Killin it.
Great play with Shump and Crowder on the bench.
Vintage Wade imo…
LBJ with the nail?
If we could clean the glass, they’d have 60 pts.
Covington thinks he’s Curry…
Channing Frye OWNS Embiid…
Just caught up to the game. Bench is brilliant tonight.
That was a lob to nowhere from Wade…
Wade shoulda just shot that one…
Nice D from Korver.
The one thing about this team is that if a couple guys are off (Love, Crowder) we have enough guys to pick them up ( Wade, Korver, Frye, Green, JR). That is with IT, Rose, & TT out.
I don’t want Frye to lose his spot with the 2nd unit.
Korver is obscene..
He is one of the top 2/3 shooters of all time. And he can hit them on the move. It IS obscene.
LBJ has now played with two of them with Korver and Ray Ray…
Korver and Frye giving Stockton and Malone a run for their money! Ha
Bench disparity now 45-20… just instant awesome!
Such a luxury to have a bench that can score right now. In recent years we’ve always just have to hold our breath while LeBron sat. This unit is really humming!
Meanwhile… Frye has been awesome!
Embiid has 3 tackles tonight.
should have been and 1 on that Frye lay-up but he’s not Embiid so…
RUN-THE-BREAK-ZUS!!
Still awful on the D glass.
And likely will be until TT or a replacement return…
STEAL-ZUS!!
Tony Brothers > these refs
I definitely appreciate a bum like Brothers after watching these guys…these guys are calling the game like an 8th grade homer crew…
I rarely complain about refs, but this crew is a disgrace…
This is one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever seen. These refs don’t belong in the NBA.
if Cavs match energy of Sixers they have this game
Korver got the extra point for the three, Jason
Cavs bench outscoring Philly’s 39-20
Jeff Green should get more,of Crowder’s minutes. Need the Green Machine posi
We better get an extra point here.
https://twitter.com/cavscentral216/status/935324612409348099
only reason this game is close is 8 points worth of phantom foul free throws for Sixers, otherwise this is blow out….such a joke…if these officials aren’t reprimanded then Cavs need to pressure Silver….complete joke tonight
Another terrible call.
The Green Machine…
https://twitter.com/cavscentral216/status/935324563306680320
Another freaking terrible call…good god, refs, use your freaking brains…
Bullshit calls against the cavs
These refs are hot garbage…
I almost think a couple of them have a bet on the game…I’m not kidding…
