Live Thread: Cavs vs Pacers
2017-12-08This Friday night is a show down between the 18-7 Cleveland Cavaliers and divisional rivals the 14-11 Indiana Pacers. Bankers Life Field House is one of the hardest arenas in the League for the Cavs. Every time LeBron and the Cavaliers travel to Indiana the games are tough. This iteration of the Pacers should be no different. Since trading Paul George to the Thunder, Victor Oladipo has acquitted himself quite well. He is playing at an all-star or near all-star level, averaging 23.3 points, 3.9 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. Oladipo has finally arrived and it’s been fun to watch.
Fortunately, it’s been even more fun to watch the one man wrecking crew known as LeBron Raymone James. The King has been utterly decimating teams in the first quarter of the season. Since losing four straight early on, LeBron has taken his game up a notch, reportedly to 80%. He’s controlling every aspect of the game every night. When he’s not on the court, the Dinobots are transforming the second unit into a lethal force to give the starters a break. Tonight should be a good test as the Cavs go for 14 straight. As Always, Go Cavs!
who cares what kyrie is doing now….lets see him duplicate in playoffs when he will truly be the man and how he responds…then we can react however the situation unfolds.
like most of us here at ctb—-upset with the way kyrie is playing ( especially effort on defense )—at the same time we needed to trade him —he did not want to be here —would have been a major attitude / distraction / detriment to the team—still hoping the old kyrie returns for boston ———–believe the pacers got the best of that thunder trade
of course espn main theme is the cavs win streak of 13 was against sub par teams —no credit of how difficult it is to win 13 in a row regardless of the competition —-
Cavs looked passive at times when shooting and then couldn’t hit shots on top of that…Oladipo had insane game and Pacers definitely brought energy from the start…that was fun streak, and Im sure team will have another one once everyone comes back healthy
word is 76er’s might rest embiid tonight —-they play N.O. tomorrow—I see them doing just the opposite
right down Euclid—–how did you know my favorite color is PURPLE —–good stuff man !!!!
Dear lord. NBC sports reporting that LeBron and Nerlens Noel are plotting how to team up next year, likely with Lakers
And this just in: I’ve been talking with Stephen Hawking about working on a new book together. It will be about the Lakers.
Also Obama called up Cols and wants to get matching Lakers jerseys
Buzz Aldrin is in talks with Nomad to put out a purple and gold moon boot
Daniel Day Lewis is coming out of retirement to work with Evil Genius on a Vladimir Radmanovic biopic
Wowser. Vlad Radmanovic. Talk about a deep cut. Well done.
Hey, that’s a pretty good idea…
Bummer of a game. Just too.many missed shots. Cavs offensive execution was a bit lethargic.
If shooting is included in execution than yes, I guess. korver seemed reluctant to shoot and thus pump faked a lot…J.R. meanwhile felt liberated to shoot and just missed. Wide open looks over and over for J.R…semi open looks for korver but not really in his normal turning left to shoot direction.
No wait…you’re right. jR made his contested jumpers and missed his wide open ones…and korver shot a lot turning right and not left off his picks. Poor execution of even the most minute of details makes a difference.
Meh. Most of Korver’s looks were highly contested and in no way open by any standard definition. Korver makes some of those Contested shots normally. He didn’t tonight. Can’t expect a guy to make contested shots all the time. Tonight he couldn’t. I don’t think Korver was hesitant. Just falling back to the mean with highly contested one shot one pass jumpers with zero time to shoot.
And Kyrie misses like the last three shots down the stretch. Could not be happier for him.
Didn’t see it. However, 13/21 with 36 is a line I would take from him any day.
GINOBLI!!!!
Terry Rozier is such an irredeemable scrub. I don’t think the Celtics trade was good for the Cavs at all, but thank god they didn’t end up with Rozier. I look for Ainge to try to dump him on somebody in some terrible trade.
Jiri Welch 2.0?
Bill Simmons just orgasmed to that Brown putback…
Ok if the Celtics finish with the best record in the league and Irving continues to average 25+PER and/or 25 ppg on 48% shooting, the MVP may go to him. Screw you Irving. Where was the d in Cleveland?
Seriously. If Kyrie is trying to prove something to someone, couldn’t he have done it in Cleveland?
I don’t get it. The way he has played d in Boston, he could have seriously hampered curry last year. Uggh. Flat earther.
He wasn’t fully woke in Cleveland…
GINOBLI!!!
So it is nuts to me that this season 12/22 with 29 is a slightly subpar night for bron. Granted his jumper is better than ever. However, I would love to see what 2008-2013 LBJ could do in today’s game. The officiating is different, and the game is way way way less physical than his early career. Hand checks/verticality on drives are no longer called for the defense. I think even with a lesser jump shot 2008-2013 LBJ would put up 35+ on 65% TS in today’s NBA.
You are forgetting things. Verticality is actually given much MORE than in 2008. And also the Lebron we have now can shoot. I think if Lebron of NOW played in 2008 we would have 3-5, not 1 title(s) in Cleveland
No way is verticality anywhere near what it was. That is some warped perception. Go back and watch some playoff series. Not even in the same universe. There is a reason LBJ shooting 48% was ridiculous back in 2006-2010. The same reason why the league leaders in fg% were all under 60%. Way more physical back then. Why do think guys like curry all of a sudden shoot near 50 when guys like shaq only shot 55-58% back then. Different officiating.
Also there is a reason blocks per game have gone down consistently since the late 2010s. Nowhere near the contact inside has been allowed since then. Steph, Kyrie, all the midget (relative to guys like AI and wings) point guards guards have thrived inside because of it.
Basically, by any statistical measure big men are nerfed to an utterly pathetic amount in today’s NBA.
Tony Parker looks pretty spry…maybe not quite vintage, but pretty, pretty, pretty good…
Can’t recall anyone else stepping up outside lebron outside of J.R. maybe
I’m going to game tomorrow…they can start another streak
