2018 Finals Live Thread: Cavs @ Warriors, Game 1

The Cavs arrived at Oracle Arena with the black duds intact, though with a few… alterations. LeBron donned the suit shorts, as did Jordan Clarkson, while most of the guys went long on the pants. On other great news, Kevin Love has passed the concussion protocol, which means he’ll be playing tonight. And if Ty Lue’s words from earlier this week are any indication, it means he’ll be starting. My best starting lineup? Kev, Jeff, LeBron, Kyle, and George. I know we won’t get that, but hopefully the Cavs can put Kev at the 5 and abuse the likes of Kevon Looney.
If you’re like me, you really want this one, because you’re tired of everyone crapping on your favorite team all week. Whether it be memes, pundits, players, or just that lady with the cubicle who read that horribly timed Rachel Nichols interview, you’re sick of the hype, and you just want the Cavs to come out and punch this team in the mouth. Hopefully, that’s the feeling that LeBron’s teammates have after hearing about how useless they are all week. Hopefully the defensive connectivity from the Boston series returns, and Cleveland can play on a string against the Golden State.
There’s been plenty of hype and opinions on this, so I’m not going to waste time on more. I just want to enjoy the ride and watch these guys play at their best and put the Warriors on their butts. Oh, and #FreeCedi. Go Cavs.

George Hill is very important to the Cavs with his ability to legit defend 4 positions and not commit mental mistakes. He needs to keep out of foul trouble.
Excited about Lebrons half. Domination with looking like he was putting out a ton of effort. If we can make it scrappy in the third, play aggressive and smart, I think the 4th could be some more LBJ magic time. My God, wouldn’t that be awesome??
The Cavs just wasted a great scoring half from Bron and a decent performance from KLove too. Got to be ready to match their intensity in the third quarter though, the Warriors always play their basketball in the third.
I will know if I am getting to bed at a reasonable in about 30 minutes depending on the 3rd quarter

Someone explain to me please how the refs are always favoring GS and noone gives a damn. JR gets shoved under the basket no call, turnover. Very next play Hill breathes near Draymond, foul, his third. These are plays that define halves and they always go against us. WTF.
Ehh, we got some calls too. Love bumped Curry on a transition play that they didn’t call. Letting us play pretty physical defensively. 7 fouls for Warriors vs 6 for Cavs
Unfortunately having Lue puts us at such a disadvantage, specially against such a great team.

After watching some of the Warriors games this postseason the game begins now in the third quarter for them.
I’m expecting them to torch the Cavs in the third, which is why blowing that lead so easily is murder…

Each coach should easily make these calls in the 2nd half: For Kerr, absolutely no more David West.
For Lue, absolutely no more Clarkson.
Unfortunately, I am betting Kerr may be the only one who adjusts.
If Cedi got all of Clarkson’s minutes, there is no way the Cavs would not be better. According to McMenamin, Lue thinks Clarkson ‘doesn’t shrink from the moment’…yeah, that’s great, he makes no shots, either, and turns it over too much…
What games is Lue watching?
He doesn’t shrink from the moment…he takes terrible shots against anyone in any situation…
Maybe he’s using IT as his reference point for Clarkson’s play and gauge to whether someone is “shrinking from the moment”…
Half pissed me off so bad. Don’t know if the Cavs can overcome the Warriors and Ty Lue.

We’re ok man just got sloppy there both teams missing makeable shots…tighten up defense and run offense and we can build lead again
Really need to tighten things up defensively. Warriors are going to make some adjustments to get the ball out of LeBron’s hands. Korver, JR, Green, Love better be ready to lock and load.
3rd quarter- most important quarter
We have played a good half generally. We have missed too many open threes as we seem to always do against GS. Third quarter will be very telling about this game and maybe about this series. We have to withstand the avalanche that is coming.
Jr has to hit 3s when he’s open hoping korver gets better looks in second half….thought at end of half cavs went away from what works…warriors not doing much to stop cavs…this game similar to 2015 finals
It’s one thing from Jr to not hit his outside shots but also commit mistakes after mistake on defense.
Why doesn’t Green drive to the hoop? What concerns me is he said after game 7 vs Boston he was going to keep shooting threes if he is open…..which he will be constantly
11 pt lead quickly evaporates and it feels like a 10 pt deficit instead of a tie. If they can withstand the 3rd qtr outburst they can hang. Tough having Hill in foul trouble and Clarkson not able to hit the ocean. Love the minutes by Nance though.

Thought some possessions were wasted….TT has to go stronger to basket no matter what…thought love tried too hard after a bit….defense ok but taking too many risks and switching

Where’s the CtB family!? Decent looks so far. Solid defense and not working too hard for open looks on offense. Clarkson and Nance maybe not as afraid of GSW coming from LA– getting early play time?

James is 1-1 from 3, the rest of the team is 1-8. Amazing he’s been able to get to the rim as much as he has with all the help D GS can bring.
On that last layup, they started to collapse on him. Usually that causes him to pass so they over played the pass and he had a wide open layup.
I’d like Lue to explain why Clarkson gets so may minutes. I’d really like that.
