Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers (#BlackFriday)
2018-11-23For the first Black Friday in a while, the Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves as sellers rather than buyers. Of course, it’s still early days, but this is typically the time of year that teams have at least an inkling of how their season will play out. The Cavs, maybe against their front office wishes… or maybe not, it appears will retain their first round pick next summer, as they seem to be a long shot to notch double digit victories this side of the trade deadline.
As they look to clean house (and their cap) of some of their veteran contracts, they visit one buyer in particular who might be interested in what they’re selling. The Cavs visit the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia tonight to take on the 76ers, a team still in need of some outside shooting. Cleveland might have the perfect fit for the Sixers in experienced gunner, Kyle Korver, or maybe a reliable backup PG in George Hill. Not even the deepest Black Friday discount though would likely be enough for the Cavs to move the disgruntled JR Smith, so he’ll continue to be a DNP (NWT) — not with team.
Even though the Cavs acquitted themselves well against their former leader and his new team on Wednesday night with a narrow 109-105 loss to LBJ and the Lakers, Philly poses a much tougher challenge. Cleveland stayed in the last game via a season low three turnovers, while forcing 15 by L.A. The Sixers won’t be nearly as easy to maintain that ratio against, particularly as their defense is a bit stingier than the Lake show. Success on the road, which has been non-existent this season, will largely rest on the rebounding of Tristan Thompson, the shooting of Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson, the all around play of Cedi Osman and level of defensive intensity the team can bring against a formidable Philly squad.
Prediction: Philadelphia runs up a large bill while cleaning out the Cavs on a Black Friday liquidation… 127-109.
Catch all of the action starting at 7:30pm EST on Fox Sports Ohio, and as always… chime in here.
Clarkson cooking!!!!
JC again!
AGREE THIS IS THE STARTING 5 CAVS NEED TO GO WITH—–WISH WE WOULD GET THIS HOOD ON MORE CONSISTENT BASIS ———–MIGHT HAVE TO CRACK OPEN AN “EARLY ” P.O.C “
Cavs are fighting. Took advantage of reddick and butler being on the bench. Can we finish them off on the road?
Clarkson with some spark. Harrison even with a nice dish to LNJ for a slam.
Up 1 after 3.
Cavs look infinitely better than the beginning of the year…. They’re actually competitive now.
22 a piece for Sexton and Hood… Wanna see Cedi catch fire in the fourth again…
Yup Clarkson goes unconscious first six minutes, cedi takes them home.
Michael Jordan Clarkson
Clarkson over embiid!!!
Great quarter! Keep it coming, Cavs!
Way to fight back Cavs to get the lead!
JC over Embiid!
Embiid gets a lot of trash calls.
Jordan! And 1. Way to attack.
I freaking hate Embiid’s act…
Clarkson and 1!!!!!!!!!! C’mon!!!
HOW IS THAT NOT CONTINUATION???
Okay good, they gave it to him…
Niven pass Harrison
Great drive and dish Harrison!!!!!!!!
Great offense attacking the bucket!
Actually a nice play by Harrison with the inside pass to Nance for the slam
Sixers playing 6 on 4 now
Embiid is like a 7 foot Golden Turd with his flop act…
Clarkson still garbage. Missed a wide open nance.
If we can get good Clarkson for a few minutes, this could get interesting…
Not clear path. but just barely. Embiid had a shoulder ahead.
Why does clear path take so long to determine? Asking for a friend…
Nice offense hood just missed. Great defense Nance!
Nice steal Larry!
That was a foul on on Johnson!!!! I stand corrected
This is the Rodney Hood we thought we were getting last year!! I don’t see any hesitation on his shot tonight.
Too easy out of the time out…
Cavs offense all high ball screen action (hard to call it pick and roll with thompson cause he never rolls) and mismatch isolation, but it’s working.
Hood is going nuts. Tough ones, too. Keeping us in it.
It must be that 7th game for Hood
RODNEY! Keep running plays for him.
And for goodness sakes give him the last shot if it comes to it
HOOD EN FUEGO!!!!!!!!!!

Nice hesitation move Sexton, but out of control finish.
Sexton hammered again. No call.
Sexton got hit in the head on that drive… oh well
Hood is red hot tonight. Git him more looks.
Hood clutch 3!!!!!!!!!

If Sexton can do 20/5/5 that’s gonna be a great pick…. Especially if he adds that competitive clutch plays in high leverage situation s.
Hanging in there. TOs, some bad board woek, and a tad too much TT post up creeping in.
Sexton is finishing much better around the basket.
Time for Cedi/Hood/Nance to have a positive impact.
Sixers trying to out-physical them. Trying to bully them. Cavs need an enforcer.
Does such a thing exist anymore?
Tt needs to kick it outon that post up too much dribbling
If they can limit these turnovers they’ll have a shot at the W.
Running plays for TT is a good way to lose…
Bad turnover cedi…. Be strong with the ball.
Should’ve hit Collin in the corner. Easy give and go.
Didn’t see that…. Looked like an easy layup if he’s strong with ball…. Bit 3 would have been better
Sixers capitalize on EVERY turnover
Sexton coast to coast!!!!!!!!@!@
RUN IT Young Bull!
Rebounding fail there…
Nice drive Sexton!!! Gets the call, should’ve got the call previous drive.
Some of these calls are downright disgraceful… Butler clearly throwing his hip out there…
Butler… FLOP! on that j. Total horse crap.
Ball doesn’t lie
Nice flop Jimmy…
TT is still dumb.
Sexton not moving the ball enough…
Eh. i thought Austin was way off on that comment about not attacking Amir. Collin should’ve gotten that call.
Yeah, but he’s settling for that long two too much this half… until that last drive…
Sexton with a good move to the bucket. He got hammered by Amir.
What the hell was that?
Terrible pass Nwaba. Terrible decision not to have cedi inbound
Terrible inbounds…
Cavs moving their feet defensively… great to see
Sexton elbow j!!!!! There you go!
Nice confident 3 Nwaba !
NWABA!!
