Live Thread: Cavs @ Wolves (#ColdLikeMinnesota)
2019-12-28It may not be as frigid as usual this time of year in the land of many lakes, as the Cavaliers visit the Target Center in Minneapolis tonight. However, opponents don’t come too much colder than the Minnesota Timberwolves, who finally won a game in December after nipping the Sacramento Kings in double OT on Thursday 105-104. That ended an 11 game skid for the Wolves, and was the fifth game in a row missed by star center Karl-Anthony Towns.
KAT is questionable for this one, though Gorgui Dieng has been filling in admirably for the injured big man. Meanwhile, the Cavs are playing the second night of a long-distance back-to-back, after the first night brought an end to their season-high three game winning streak. Despite the decisive loss in Boston to the Celtics, Cleveland showed some fight in the end by cutting the lead down to single digits in the fourth quarter. Also, it was a big game for former Minnesota star, Kevin Love, who scored 30 with six boards and four assists.
Tonight will be the next chapter in the Love for Andrew Wiggins swap, as both look to lead their teams to a W with some stone cold shooting… though Wiggins may not play either with the flu.
Prediction: The Cavs show the Wolves they need to stay up off those streets if they can’t take the heat, and keep things cold like Minnesota… freezing out the Wolves 112-107.
Catch all the action starting at 8pm EST on FSO, and as always chill out with us here in the comments…
Dabo might be my least favorite college coach, which is saying something.
Ohio still doing a lot of dumb things offensively. Bailed out by dumber things defensively by Clemson. I don’t understand the pass routes Ohio is running against a blitz.
Gutsy call on 4th down there. TD.
Still in it despite the bungles, brain farts, and bad calls.
What terrible play design for the buckeyes. Got one guy in a route on the right side of the field on that pick.
That’s a catch and fumble. That’s a horse crap call. No way that should be overturned. SEC refs. Huh.
Yeah. But OSU bungled two drives that should have been TDs (Fields cannot hit Dobbins for an easy TD; other drive: ball hits Hill in the helmet/Dobbins drops screen pass on a blitz).
Two of Clemson’s TDs were on drives that were extended by dumb penalties: targeting on a 3rd down sack and roughing the punter.
That’s 22 points.
Ha! So they DID wind up with 29 turnovers…
Another unimpressive win.
Eh… Garland was impressive… as was Henson
Didn’t see the game, but DGs numbers are nice…
I felt like I was watching a Washington Generals inter squad scrimmage. Geez, what a horrible game and I only watched the last 18 minutes. The fact that the Cavs have won 4 of their last 5 games should have NBA executives worried as to the state of the league.
Yeah. The NBA’s biggest problem is they’re not paying attention to the quality of the product on the floor.
You guys made a terrible bball game a lot of fun.
a wholesome time with CtB!
Same!
hey a win is a win…. without KLove and off of a back to back.
I was so hoping for a Cavs steal and turnover.
you’re sick LMFAOOOOO
Announcers are saying 29 turnovers but box score reads 28… either way… yeesh
Cavs destroyed the Wolves on the boards 61-39… but a lot of that has to do with the Wolves missing 60 shots…
And the cavs’ TOs is why it’s so close.
Man. You guys are DIE HARDS. These two teams are grinding sausage, and you guys stayed to watch how the sausage was made.
Better than watching the Buckeyes choke…
Definitely feels like they should be up way more than they are.
I like to know what goes into things I consume.
This game needs someone to give it the green dream.
?
Euthanasia
Ah.
If you bet on NBA games, you’re a moron.
Jesus. GUARD THE THREE POINT LINE?!
Is someone point shaving with the Cavs? That’s the only explanation for these endings…
These kids aren’t old enough to shave.
LMFAOOO the correct answer
Nice one!
TT with the clutch FTs…
Jesus. Did they miss all three of their freebies and then give up an and-1?
Yup…
DUUUUUMB foul
Garland just looks totally gassed.
awful looking FT for a 90% shooter.
HAHA Okogie is a GD wrecking ball. Just out of control all the time.
I really enjoy john henson.
best net rating of any Cav I believe. I think they try to re-sign him.
Why do I feel like the Cavs aren’t out of the woods yet? This is the stretch where they normally blow it.
Your instincts are correct…
Because they usually leave the best three point shooter on the opposing team open for multiple tying shots…
Good timeout.
Well… there’s still 38 seconds left… and Cavs are one shy of the turnover record at 28…
Can they do it!?
I’m calling a shot clock violation for the tie.
That’s probably a safe bet…
Was that technically one just then when Sexton stepped out of bounds? Or possession not established?
Never had possession. He caught it in the air and came down out of bounds.
God. Sexton Misses that. Brutal night for Minny. Garland been the best player on offense down the stretch for Cleveland.
nice read Garland, open shot for Nance… dagger FTs for Sexton i hope
Agreed. Some nifty passes this evening.
Helps that Minny is 7-35 from downtown…
Minnesota shooting threes like…
GARLAND STEPBACK!
Back to back big buckets for Garland there.
Darius the Great!
WOOO much needed 3 from Garland!
My stream has become almost unwatchable, much like this game. Following the game through your comments.
Sorry Bud. You’re probably better off.
Nance HAS TO SHOOT THAT
Redemption on the other end…
So does Cedi!
Jesus Christmas these refs…
Jesus. Stop lobbing. The lob hasn’t worked all night. Just shoot the floater.
27 turnovers… 2 shy of the team record…
The night is young.
Yes, he can grab that! He’d re-established himself.
That’s horse crap.
Sexton just stands there watching… he has the worst recognition of any player I’ve seen…

LMFAOOOOOO
KPJ got bumped on the drive, no foul call.
Just shoot the shot, KPJ.
This is my first time watching a G league game. The biggest difference other than the level of play is the officiating.
lol. You just won the live thread.
Nice pass TT.
Keep shooting threes Gorgi!
Cavs could at least watch how wolves set up that screen for Napier and learn from it.
This is one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever watched.
No such thing as a foul by Minnesota apparently…
WHAT A FREAKING FLOP BY NAPIER! EFF that. Everything wrong with the NBA in that play. Meanwhile, Beilein had already wasted that challenge.
How is that an offensive foul?
screwed on two calls in a row
It ain’t
https://twitter.com/FOXSportsCLE/status/1211119493226745857?s=20
Why does the girl in the Echo commercial have her hair wrapped up in necktie? Is that a thing?
Beilein won’t win this. He doesn’t have veto power like President Stevens.
That challenge that Stevens won last night was the biggest load of horse-crap. But at least he showed Beilein it can be done.
Beilein challenges this I bet.
That was a horrible possession by Kpj.
About five Minny walks on that last possession.
Not a great possession by KPJ…
Exum sure look like he got fouled on that drive…
KPJ good at drawing fouls on drives…
strong attack by him.
As ugly as this game is… I’m glad I’m not watching the Buckeyes…
Exum put Vonleh into…
Ooh nice find
Garland going under the Teague screen, nice to see some game plan discipline! Beilein mentioned that a few games ago.
Well, he got dusted by the drive the previous two plays.
we get it, you hate him lol
