Live Thread: Celtics @ Cavs
2021-11-13Good evening CtB!
The famed Boston Celtics travel to the shores of Lake Erie to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in an important early season Eastern Conference tilt. The Cavs currently occupy a top four seed in the Eastern Conference, and beating Boston surely would make their lives more difficult as they struggle to remain a play-in team. The Cavs can expect a hungry and desperate Boston team off the heels of a momentum building win against the reigning NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks last night.
For the Celtics, the key to stopping their offense this season will be containing Jaylen Brown, and preventing Jayson Tatum from finding his rhythm after a rough start to the season. As for Boston’s defense, Marcus Smart and Dennis Schröder are very good perimeter defenders, so Darius Garland and Ricky Rubio will have their hands full trying to break them down and get into the paint.
This is a game where the Cavs can embrace their underdog status (+1.5 home dogs at time of writing) and really establish themselves as a bonafide playoff contender, while simultaneously keeping Boston in the mud and potentially in a world of hurt if they can’t get it figured out soon with new GM “President” Brad Stevens (h/t to Evil Genius!) and new head coach Ime Udoka.
Tip off is scheduled for around 8:00pm ET, and the game will be broadcasted on national television station NBATV, as well as Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes. GO CAVS!
P.S. Injury note
#Cavs Lamar Stevens (ankle) will also be OUT tonight along with Kevin Love, Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton.

Recap is posted, if you want to hop over!
again surprised by this team so far and its still super early, but this is a play in team and possible playoff team…see shades of Hawks from last year in team…so far….again see how they are in january and march
This was a game where in past years, the Cavs would have lost by 20+ and team would have quit halfway through. Yes the talent level is better with Mobley and Rubio (of course Garland and Allen getting better) but this still predominately the same core of guys but they are trying harder and coaches are doing much better handling situations….its still early but this team is fighting through some tough games and most importantly they are entertaining to watch.
THANK YOU BUCKAROO FOR ALL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS —-EVEN THE MRS NOMAD IS A BIG FAN OF YOURS :-) —–BE CAREFUL SHE HAS A VERY JEALOUS HUSBAND :-)
NOMAD bro.. you make me blush..
chk out “LIVE Garden Report: Celtics vs Cavaliers Postgame Show | Powered by Raycon Earbuds” on ytube.. and read some of the streaming comments.. the hatred of tatum is off the charts, and quite a few celtics fans think the cavs are the real deal.. celtic green with envy
Tnx for the tip! Been noticing a lot of jealousy of the Cavs team potential recently.
If feels good.
Detroit scoring 127 in W over Raptors last night definitely makes the Cavs beat down of them seem even more impressive. They’ve won 2 of last 3 now.
Feels like the wheel bolts on the Raptors mobile might need checking before they come right off…
WOW I MISSED THE GAME EVEN WORSE I MISSED AN EVIL POST—–SO GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU EVIL—HOPE ALL IS WELLL !!!!!
On the other side of the world, but was able to check in to see how these new Cavs continue to ruin President Steven’s’ genius plans. Mobley is everything. And… he already passed GumDrop Bear…

Was quite literally just now wondering where you were and what you would make of all this EG. Can we get a satellite link for an emergency pod for you??
hell yeah EG!!!
I went to an R&R show around 9:30. I sat in the car listening to the third quarter on 1100 until a late timeout, and then I ran. I was thinking it was a good try, buy no luck tonight.
If I had waited a couple minutes, I would have wound up in the car for an hour.
rock n roll or rest & retirement ?
PML
I keep forgetting to retire.
Ok…so Mobley needs muscle ciz he isn’t Kevin Durant but he is actually Kevin Garnett. Like…so similar it is crazy.
But Durant didn’t grow up in a 3 heavy league. Imagine Mobes shoots 35+% from three this year and also has the bully ball layups and the baseline jumper he faded into late in the game tonight. We are talking slim Duncan mentality meets garnets otherworldly athleticism.
How many rookies have made the ASG? I recall LeBron didn’t.
Here’s a few: https://therookiewire.usatoday.com/gallery/nba-rookie-players-all-star-game-all-time-history/
Usually guys that young don’t. The list below is full of guys that came out as juniors, seniors, or sophomores.
Certainly if the cavs keep winning and stay around 4-5 in the east by then, from a perspective based on a player’s winning impact Mobley deserves a look. And because he’d be selected by the coaches he might actually have a shot.
good point. maybe “youngest to make ASG” would be worth looking into.
A sixth of the way thru the season, and the Cavs are 1 game out of first! Damn, I meant to predict that!
Amazing to see!
What was the Cavs record at this point in LeBron’s rookie year?
So many things to like!
Finally the right situation for Cedi to shine!
In my view that’s one of the biggest stories this year. Last year’s Cedi would have cost us a bunch of these wins. His dribble-drive fake (completely wrong-footing Schroeder) before moving into a step-back 3 early in the 4th was emblematic of his confidence.
I gotta admit, I did not expect this from him. If he regresses I will not be surprised, but damn if he keeps this going it would be a huge payoff for all of us who rooted for him thus far. And the team, of course.
Some play better when they are with better players.
In my decades of hanging out in gyms, my game went way up when I was with good players in close games. Especially when playing with high school coaches. I was still trying to impress the coach when I was 60, sometimes coaches who I had played with when they were kids.
What a win! Garland was out of his mind tonight. Cedi came up huge late a few times as well. What a fun team to root for! Did you see Kevin Love jumping and celebrating around on the court after the game. Good stuff.
Cavs are good. Period. The close games and comebacks against good teams are the proof in the pudding. They have had trials by fire as far as pulling out close games so many times this season and that marks a team that understands how to win. Allen has lived up to the contract. DG is simply a different player. Mobley has had the greatest winning impact I have seen from a rookie since Doncic and previously LBJ. Rubio’s impact may be the greatest of all yet understated as the guy simply changed the offensive culture.
you can bet that detroit and houston (fans to FO to ownership) are feeling more than a little sick.. mount mobley is rising up into the clouds.. and credit where credit is due.. garland showing up huge.. and rubio was a fantastic add.. good job koby.. there.. a first for uncle buck.. they have it in them to win 45-50 games this year
they can do something historic.. for the ages.. if they put their minds to it.. this is tough business,, no check cashers welcome.. it’s up to them
OMG the Cavs just gave Angel Gray a ball signed by the Cavs and a bunch of Cavs media. Holy schneikes I love this team.

MOBLEY MVP CAMPAIGN STARTS NOW!!!!
RUBIO 6th MAN OF THE YEAR, LETS GOOO
legit ASG consideration? if the Cavs keep winning like this then we will have a rep in the Land!!!!
For sure. If we maintain 1-5 seed until February then that will be secured.
Also, it’s ridiculous how much Rubio has brought to this team. It’s like adding another Garland, but a much older and seasoned Garland who has played an ocean more basketball in his life.
yup, 100% agree… perfect guy for garland to learn from
I’m still gassed about that no look Rubifro clutch alley oop connection…incredible basketball play…
Not only that incredible camera work.
Having a good PG on the court at all times makes a huge difference. Rubio can mentor DG and help him get where he wants to go, and could help with Sexton’s blinders.
My feels: losing to close games at home could teally have damaged this teams’s confidence & momentum. This gives them a great chance to set in stone their new ambition.
Pretty happy the Rockets took Jalen Green tbh…
Jalen who?
Celts coach said they got what they wanted on last play, Schroeder picking on someone they wanted to pick on.
Boston idiots don’t know about the Macedonian King Cedi Osman
That disgusting stepback he hit was the first moment I felt like we were likely to come back all the way. King indeed.
What’s so heartening is Winning with defense like this is repeatable. If you don’t have to score 100 points to win games you just way up your chances of winning games.
Yup, Defensive wins championships!!!
