Live Thread: Cavs @ 76ers
2022-03-04Tonight the Cavs have ventured down Interstate 76 to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the surging Philadelphia 76ers in a massive Eastern Conference clash. The Cavs are now fighting for their playoff lives as the sixth seed and two games up on the 7th seeded Toronto Raptors. The Sixers are making a run at the top seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to the James Harden acquisition. The chips are stacked against the Cavs, but that’s exactly how they like it. Some quick thoughts headed into tonight’s action:
DG finding another gear
One of the most disappointing aspects of Darius Garland’s performance last game was the seven turnovers, which should’ve been converted into shot attempts given how hot DG’s shooting was that night (13-22 from the field). The next level of DG’s basketball maturity is finding that 40 or 50 point game with 30-35 shot attempts when the moment calls for it. Does Garland have a “scoring dawg” in him, willing his team on to victory on the offensive end? He’s capable of MVP statlines along the lines of James Harden or Steph Curry, tonight would be the perfect night to bring it out.
Tower City defense
The Cavs need its defensive leaders, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, to dominate the game for the Cavs to have a chance. Joel Embiid is having an MVP caliber season, this is the perfect opportunity for Tower City to continue to make a name for themselves league-wide.
J.B. Bickerstaff play Dean Wade Challenge
Seriously J.B., the harping on about defense, dawg, and grit, yet you don’t play one of the grittiest dawgs on the roster? What gives? Unfortunately, Dylan Windler’s out so that rant will have to wait for another day.
Tip off scheduled for 7:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
recap up
oof…mins distribution was super weird. I want Dean Wade to go like Harry and the Hendersons style…the guy is so much better off away from JB. He’s gonna contribute on another level somewhere else.
How long does the honeymoon period last for the youth of the whole cavs org? They’re definitely still in that period…but when can I take the sign down above my tv that says “remember we’re 1 year ahead of schedule according to whateverhisnameis Gansey” lol

This is why I didn’t even bother watching. I can’t stand the flopping. It makes my blood boil.
Same
Can’t blame you guys, sucks to watch
Great effort from the DAWGS. Sixers are looking like champions.
No way. When the fouls stop coming, they’re phucked.
Really came down to bad coaching on the defensive just ridiculously bad defensive calls to finish the game
Don’t know if I prefer watching them get hammered last time more than watching them lose a big lead this time.
a loss is a loss in the standings… What I hate is watching an entire game and my Cavs losing.
can’t lose to terrible teams with games like this on the schedule. let another one slip away.
That might be the most frustrating.. and agree, this one was winnable on the road against a great time.. but too short again.
winning and losing are both habits…and we’re on the wrong end of that momentum right now.
Fought well.
Great effort, but not going to happen…DG best player on the floor…
Why are they playing this ridiculous zone that’s is obviously not working at all
Why is DG matched up to embid for the last 2 crutch time posessions.. like come on now
they were trying to zone it up but Philly already adjusted… L for JB
got damn, that defensive call was awful, mismatches all over in that zone.
can’t win without 2 stops.
DG COOKING LET GOOO
WHAT A FINISH CEDI OFF HAND!
CAVS SCRAPPING LETS GOOOO
Big Bucket!!!!!!
This one’s over. We have no offense left.
Cool
