Live Thread: 76ers @ Cavs
2022-04-03The Cavs are back in the friendly confines of the Rocket Mortgage Field House taking on the Philadelphia 76ers for the final time this season. The Sixers are going for the season series sweep, while the Cavs are looking for a little revenge and momentum heading into the postseason. It should be a great game with both teams fighting for seeding.
The Cavs have struggled on the defensive end against the Sixers this season. It will take a herculean effort by Moses Brown to give the Cavs a chance in this game. If the Cavs have any designs on winning tonight, it will have to start at the defensive end so that the Cavs can get out and run and put pressure on the Sixers’ transition defense. An MVP effort by Darius Garland will probably also have to happen, given his matchup against James Harden.
Tip off is scheduled for 6:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
Okeke killing them.
yes the fouls are the popular subject from this game but even thru highlights, the Cavs defense continually lost Embiid on simple screen/pick and rolls or getting the rebound after a missed shot…thought that was the key to the loss cause it happened constantly in 4th quarter.
holy crap just realized the Raptors lossed. This was an enormous missed opportunity
Rondo should have been in there at closing time rather than LeVert. Rondo’s defense is so cagey
his defense has been good, but his offense is so bad now he’s unplayable on that end.
Is there a taller guard on the team who can also rebound and play sneaky good d and finish at the rim off cuts who could have snagged his minutes? Anyone? Buindler?!
tho to be fair Rondo went 2-3 from deep in the Rock…windler hasn’t produced that in a while.
it’s not about individual stats, it’s about the team performance.
98.8 offensive rating while Rondo is on the court. Unplayable.
*on offense… He’s great he should be used situationally for defense.
i’m not arguing. Just can’t say he was the only reason for that
for sure.
Good on JB for calling out the refs i guess. i never like a guy calling out refs without getting himself at least one tech. But the game was so close the whole way I’m sure he felt he couldn’t afford one. They did not deserve to get the damn ball inbounds at the end. 5 secs easily could have been called…and to get free Harden had to clearly shove a guy. Which should result in a free throw plus possession for us if the rules made sense. Respect will hopefully come in the next couple seasons. Tough being young… Read more »
I missed most of the game working on gutters…what the heck happened to keep garland at only 4 assists???
Missed it too, would like to know.
Box score perusing…. another bare bones stat line for Okoro.
32 min, 0-2 FG, 0-1 from 3. 3 points on 3-6 FTs. 4 boards, 1 ast, 1 stock.
Meanwhile 7 min from Cedi and a DNP from Windler.
Yeah. Sigh I tire of seeing his box scores and lack of impact on the game. Cedi played well in the first half…. No idea on that one
His role is playing defense…played 32 mins, we lost by 4, and he was -6 in his mins. He absolutely needs to bring more on offense…but part of that is coaching and part of that is caris doing more of the ball handling.
i think if he doesn’t improve offensively next year and Lamar continues to rise there may be some nervous panicking by front office on a potential ‘wasted’ lottery pick…NBA is an offensive game and barely anyone plays defense outside of playoffs, guy has to score double digits to merit playing time.
AGREE DAN—–HAVE SAID SINCE LAST YEAR—LAMAR REMINDS ME OF BOBBY PHILLS –( OLD SCHOOL CAVS ) —WHO WAS NOT DRAFTED AN EVENTUALLY BECAME AN ALL STAR ————-AND YES EVERY PLAYER STRUGGLES AGAINST EMBIID // MOSES GAVE AN A + EFFORT ALL YOU CAN ASK FOR
MAN JUST WANTED A CHANCE– ( INBOUND PLAY )– TO SCORE THAT IS WHAT IS SOOOOOOOFRIGGIN FRUSTRATING ON TOP OF ALL THE FRIGGIN FOULS………” MORE BEER PLEASE “
tough L but honestly Cavs played mostly good that game. Lamar is a player man, we have seriously found something here! Cedi should have played more in the 2nd half, don’t think he was out there at all. Moses was overmatched but what are you going to do against Embiid? Could have used LeVert more in the 4th quarter. Lauri hit some big shots and played ok D.
Yeah some silver linings, but would be nice for the Cavs to pull one out against some of these other playoff teams.
Also, just incredibly tough to beat Embiid without Allen/Mobley. Getting to the line 20 freaking times… incredible. Thought Lauri did about as well as he could have.
Yup great call on Cedi and Lauri. Great points all around.
Another frustrating loss.
35-21 = Feb 11th
43-36 – April 3rd
8-15 – 33% winning percentage .. just horrible way to end the season.. even with the injuries .
yikes that is bad
I mean. The injuries have been massive. That’s 99% the reason. To think otherwise is silly
coaching staff panicked with injuries instead of finding alternate solutions to combat injuries…every main contender has dealt with injuries and Cavs couldnt adjust…mostly due to youth but coaching staff needed to better..lesson learned.
AGREE GRUMPY OLD MAN—–EVERYONE NEW IT WAS COMING TO DG// NEEDED A DECOY TO GET THE BALL IN 1ST OR A DOUBLE SCREEN TO FREE UP DG
YES!!!!
A team that can’t inbound the basketball off a Timeout does not deserve to win..,that was terrible
Clearly they have nothing.
Unbelievable that an NBA team doesn’t have an effective inbound play. It’s an embarrassment. How many times have they messed up on these at the worst possible time.
JB wont be around more than another full season
Even if he had caught that, momentum was going away from the basket. Just bad bad bad.
Cavs got homered at home again.
This is how the Grifters win. It’s been that way since they got Harden
43 FTs for the 6ers
