Live Thread: Cavs @ Rockets

The Cavs are playing their third installment of their tour of the Texas triangle with a matchup with the middling Houston Rockets. The Rockets went from being in the conference finals last season to trading for a drunk, firing their coach, and currently stand seventh in a surprisingly shallow Western conference. The Rockets (21-19), have won six of their last ten, and have slowly picked up steam from their slow start.
The game will mark the last of the Cavs six game road trip, their longest of the season. They’ve been road warriors thus far winning four of five after coming up short against the Spurs in the fourth quarter when they were obviously running on fumes from the OT thriller two nights before in Dallas. Coming into their contest with the Rockets, the Cavs have racketed up the frequent flyer miles with 4,590 miles on the trip. Hopefully, the team will have a little left in the tank.

He has not impressed me the least in this game. He’s had a clear size advantage most of the game, and all he can do with it is chuck a few sloppy looking hooks up? I don’t watch Houston much, but he looks terrible.

If the Cavs somehow blow this game it will be because of how they played at the end of this quarter when they were feeling a little too good about themselves.
I gotta agree. The Cavs take possessions off when they’re up. They make lazy plays and they get unfocused. I hate to see that.
Except that Houston doesn’t seem to care all that much…

Horrible mental mistakes. Rushed shots. Giving up wide open 3s that thankfully they missed. Clear path fouls.

I mean – the Rockets missed about 5 wide open 3s off lazy defense. I’m not gonna celebrate that. When you are up big you take some air out of the ball and don’t rush shots, turn it over, or allow uncontested 3s.
The Rockets are playing like crap. They could catch fire if the Cavs keep screwing around.

What game are you watching? They were flying around on D, doubling Harden out front and closing out on 3’s aggressively. True they got some open looks, but some were rushed, and the Cav’s were putting in the effort, which they sure as hell don’t do most of the time.
I just mentioned that JR missed two wide open threes…. that would’ve given them a 23 point lead.
I thought they let crappy shooters have open looks, which is fine.
That’s what Jr is out there for, to shoot open 3’s.
Definitely… glad he took them, earlier in the season he would drive to the paint and throw the ball away on a pass HAHA!
it wasn’t an open 3. He ran the ball up the court and fired before anyone was set.
I’m ok with J.R. trying to get himself going. When you’re up 20 on the road against a team that is ice cold you don’t do high risk high reward things like that. Run outs are what they need to get going.
I don’t recall the rushed one, but was talking about the 3 he took when the ball swung around to him. Great looks, and he did hit 1 of the 3 at least.
Cavs need to practice those tap ins off of missed shots.
