Live Thread: Celtics @ Cavs

The Celtics are in town tonight. The Cavs will be looking for revenge. The last time the Green Guys were at the Q they were treated to a comedy of errors the final minutes of the game.
With four seconds left in the fourth quarter and the Cavs up by four, J.R. Smith fouled Evan Turner from behind while he was attempting a layup. Smith just barely touched Turner, so Evan easily got the layup to drop. He then missed his free throw, but somehow the Celtics got an offensive board, after Timofey Mozgov smacked the ball out of bounds. Avery Bradley then hit a game winning 3-pointer as the clock was winding down.
The Cavs failed to show their mental toughness that whole game.
They should have some confidence going into this game though. The Wizards looked frazzled yesterday, as the Cavs ran with a small ball lineup for much of the game. The Cavs were moving the ball efficiently, and they played near perfect defense holding the Wizards to just 83 points.
The Cavs will look to slow Isaiah Thomas. Thomas is the Celtics’ lead scorer getting 21.7 a night.
Kevin Love scored just ten points in his previous game against Boston. He left in the third quarter with a shoulder stinger.
This is the last time these teams will meet this season.
Up for my morning workout and man…i am excited about the month of March for the Cavs. That win was exciting. I hate the stupid celtics and to beat them by more than a last second shot was fun. Cavs really ought to go undefeated in March. 14 more games right? I understand that some fans think that winning based on Lebron having a great game or another team having an off shooting night is fool’s gold…but winning breeds confidence. Confidence is contagious. Confidence, the emotion, is why Shump plays stellar defense when he’s involved in the offense. And Confidence,… Read more »

I’m up for listening to around 60 minutes of a Lebron-shoots-to-many-3’s/Kyriie-STILL-dribbles-too-much/Frye-trade-looks-even-more-ridiculous-now/We-got-away-with-it-but-Lue-should’ve-rested-the-big-3-in-tonight’s-back-to-back-vs-Boston podcast….
The podcast will be sunshine and rainbows.
Because.
The Cavs didn’t lose 3 out of 4 games this week.
Awesome game wveryone
Also everyone but wyverns apply as well
Wyverns are awesome…
Thanks EG, you get me
This pretty much applies tonight…
All freaking day that song is I. My head.
It is the soundtrack of your life though… right?
Uep. I’m sweet. My life rules.
EVIL THANK YOU FOR ” HANDING OFF THE ASSIST ” COMPLIMENT —–AKA STEVE NASH —–AND CONGRATS TO YOUR UMBLEMISHED 3-0 ” RETURN RECORD “—ALL IS GOOD “IN THE LAND AND ON THE BLOG ” —–LOVE YOU GUYS —SPEAKING OF THAT –IT’S MRS NOMAD TIME AGAIN —BEEN REAL !!
Man I hope when I’m nomad’s age I have such a zest for life.
NOMAD you truly live a charmed life! ;)
Amazing how we strengthened our bench this year, and were going to be better prepared for GS and for when we needed to go to the bench, and tonight the 8 players with double figure minutes were……. the same top 8 players as last year. LBJ, Kyrie, Mozzy, JR, Love, Shump, Delly, and TT.
Well, that’s where all the money went… lol…
I thought the same thing when I looked at the box score. RJ is an upgrade over Marion, and Mo was important early in the year. Both won’t see much, if any, time in the playoffs.
I still can’t believe that Shump pulled down 16 freaking rebounds… I’m in awe!
Especially on B2B; I know both teams were, but with our age, a bit easier for them to be up for it.
Love this quote.
My respect level for Ty Lue just tripled.
Ditto. I’m gonna go reply to Dave and send Ty & Dave a fruit basket
Celtics were the third best defensive team (efficiency wise) in the league… Cavs just dropped 120 on them…
They even tried a zone. Delly hit LeBron on a cut and he got an easy left-handed layup (easy for him, anyway)
I hope that the Wizards can somehow clinch that 8th seed.
Me too, if only because it might come at the expense of the Bulls not making it. Would not want them if they’re healthy in the first round.
Yeah I don’t want the Bulls, Indy, or Detroit in the first round.
Well… it’s going to be one of those teams probably… lol
Unless Washington can go on a roll!!!!
Maybe JJ Hickson will finally live up to his potential… /s
I wouldn’t want Indy, for sure….I’d take the Bulls over those other two, easily.
I’d rank it Washington, Chicago, Detroit/Indy.
Same, Indy last for me….always dangerous when a team has a guy that can just go off, like Paul George can. They’ve played the Cavs tough, too.
Now that Jimmy Butler is back, that’s going to be a heck of a fight for the 8th seed…
I love it being in our position. Grab some popcorn and watch the carnage.
Total team win…
NOMAD’s assist number was exceeded once again… Cavs 27-1 when they have 23 or more assist now…
LOVE IT WHEN THEY SHARE THE BALL EG! LOVE SOME NOMAD!
AND IM ENJOYING A VARIETY PACK FROM TOTAL WINE TONIGHT. FIRST UP: MORNING GLORY ESPRESSO STOUT BY DOMINION. FANTASTIC BEER. 9% AND SMOOTH LIKE A EG VINE
Sounds like an awesome Saturday night!
I thought Mozgov played well during that stretch in the 3rd leading up to when he got elbowed in the adam’s apple. Nice concentration to drop in both free throws too.
I really don’t get why that’s a flagrant though. Common foul.
Agree with you on both counts… Amir Johnson really didn’t look like he intended to do that…
In case you didn’t see it someone on the Pellies got a flagrant 1 on a not even a hard foul on Gordon Hayward because it looked like Hayward took a hard fall. Man these refs really..
I have to disagree with this. Mozzy hit some shots and didn’t fumble it away, but they just look more stagnant with him. He may have looked good, but he was -7 tonight, and has some of the worst on/off numbers of the team. Dunno if it’s still injury related, but his D isn’t anywhere near last years, and the team is suffering because of it.
He’s been much better the last few games though… no denying that…
He’s coming along, but still….
Yep especially on finishing. Two plays in the 3rd quarter on yesterday’s game (both from a Kyrie/Lebron PnR) ended on a Moz flush. Looks like the butter hands are gone..
He does have some of the worst on/off numbers on the team.
I just thought he looked more active in the 3rd quarter. I liked when he ran the court and finished a throwdown of an LBJ bounce pass (a bounce pass worked!)
And I thought he did well on D/rebounding during that stretch.
I think his Offense is doing quite well lately, but he’s had some dumb fouls on D, and his rebounding is weak for someone with his build. Can live with it if he’s intimidating shooters like last year, and occasionally this year, but if he’s not, I’m not sure he’s playable.
Well, what do you know… Bill Simmons actually keeping it classy… kudos Bill…
As much as he irritates me, he has always had a good appreciation of LeBron and his style of play.
Spoke too soon
From Bill Simmons via Twitter
Cavs 25 FTA, Celts 11 FTA.
Cavs 11 fouls, Celts 19 fouls, 1 tech foul.
Stay classy NBA.
Cavs now 3-0 since I’ve been back… just sayin’ ;)
Live Thread Comments up 400% too!
EG’s like Magic or Lebron…. he brings out the best in all his teammates….
Now I just have to start thumbing out cryptic sub-Tweets…
But only the last 2 have been blowouts. I grant you being rusty in the first game I guess…
I had to work my way back into Vining shape… lol…
I flipped the game on in the 2nd quarter. So I’d like to say I was a Delly-esque +26 for the game.
I LOVE GAMES LIKE THIS ENJOYING WITH ALL YOU GUYS —” LIVING THE DREAM BABY “—–THINK CAVS ARE READY TO GO ON A ROLL HERE !!—–ANY UPDATE ON THE MOZ
8 guys in double figures. Shump 15 boards. Bron 2 assists shy of a triple double… I’ll take it.
Great comeback destruction for the Cavs… They just did to the Celtics what the Warriors have been doing a lot to teams this year… Come back with a vengeance…
That was a good ol’ fashioned ass kicking the last 2+ quarters.
It really was… the effort was markedly intensified. Kudos to Kyrie for keeping them in it in the second as well…
2nd unit REALLY brought it tonight, and turned the game around. Check out the +/- of the bench. Shump and Delly +26 TT +15…
Great point… those guys were terrific
Bourbon. Beer and Doritos. Tonight. Gotta cut out kangaroos for kindergarten project.
Don’t forget the Colorado Bulldog…
