Live Thread: Nuggets at Cavaliers
2016-03-21The last time the Nuggets and the Cavs faced off, David Blatt was still patrolling the sidelines, a recovering Kyrie Irving was in and out of the lineup, and the Cavs were only one game removed from the infamous Blazers “strike game”. A lot has changed in the past three months and a lot as stayed painfully the same.
After getting demolished by a high level Eastern Conference foe in Miami, the Cavs look to rebound against a suddenly competent Denver squad. Coach Mike Malone has led the Nuggets to a 6-4 record in March. Rookie stud, Emmanuel Mudiay has found his touch from long range nailing over 40% in the month. Recently acquired D.J. Augustin has lightened Mudiay’s play-making load with his usual solid shooting and strong Pick and Roll play. In Denver’s win at Charlotte Saturday night, the Texas Longhorn went off for 24 points on only 11 shots.
Denver has a lot of interesting young international players on the rise. Nikola Jokic and Joffrey Lauvergne have made up for a disappointing season from mammoth, Jusuf Nurkic. Mudiay, a native of Congo, could also be tossed into the conversation though he spent the majority of his childhood was in the States. Gallo is still out with injury, and at 27 he is a bit old to be considered “on the rise”, but the Italian combo player has had a nice season leading the worldly squad.
No one expected much from the Nuggets this season. Considering the long list of injuries to key players like Chandler, Gallinari and now Faried, Mike Malone has done an admirable job of keeping the Nuggets pesky.
Not center, Kevin Love is under the weather. The Cavs will start five guys tonight at the “Q”. I won’t pretend to know who they will be until tip-off. Sound off.
This answers everything…
“They’re for the educated mind,” James said at the time regarding his Tweets. “So if you have an educated mind, they hit home for you.”
As far as educated minds go… I mostly posted this so it could be comment #420 (you’re welcome, Cols…)
Honestly, I have two very distinct reactions to lebron’s tweets. 1, he is very smart as a baseline, has educated himself beyond 99% of what most 18 and broke to 18.1 and wealthy kids do, and he has been under more media scrutiny during his 20s than any other athlete I can think of. He is allowed to say whatever allows him to ward off the Eye of Sauron (still trying to come up with an ESPN acronym where eye and Sauron are included). 2, Lebron James, as any other human who is a once in a generation type success… Read more »
I was being silly… but isn’t the point of Twitter to cater to people’s voyeuristic curiosity? I mean, it’s essentially just a visual digital megaphone for shouting one’s 10 cent wisdom to the masses, right? If you don’t want people to talk about/dissect/expound on the meaning of the Tweets you put out, or ask questions about them… why the hell broadcast them at all?
This is my problem. I am too uneducated to understand Lebron’s fortune cookie tweets. They don’t hit home for me.
Just rifled through all of the thread comments….the feeling and intensity and teamwork and fire from last year’s team is just missing. I know there has been drama all season, but can we pinpoint the #1 reason for the utter lack of extreme desire and fire to get to the Finals and win?
It is missing. Though, to be fair, it was missing all last year too until the playoffs. Love and Kyrie, in particular, were different in the playoffs. Then they both got injured. We’ll see if the intensity of the playoffs galvanizes them again. I think we may have to just accept that this team isn’t ever going to be a joyous group like the Warriors, or a dedicated machine like the Spurs, or a close knit group of friends, like the Heat were. They’re going to be a group of really talented guys that any coach is going to struggle… Read more »
Good points JoeyB. I still get goosebumps thinking back to the electric atmosphere outside the Q after going up 2 games to 1….. We need the playoffs to get here ASAP.
Who did you think won tonight?
SO WE WIN BY 30 —-NO LOVE —-KY PLAYING ” NOT HIS BEST GAME ” ( I AM BEING NICE HE PLAYED TERRIBLE ) — AND SIGNS OF MOZ POSSIBLY RETURNING TO LAST YEARS FORM —–MENTIONED YESTERDAY——CAVS COULD GO UNDEFEATED THE REST OF THE SEASON ( HOPE I DIDN’T JUST JINX THEM ) BUT IBELIEVE THIS WOULD HELP THEIR MENTAL STATE ( GALVANIZING ASPECT ) BUT MORE ( WINNING SET ASIDE ) IMPORTANTLY IS REALLY HOW THEY PLAY EACH GAME AND ARE EVOLVING AS A TEAM GOING INTO PLAYOFFS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY STAYING HEALTHY/ AND SOMEWHAT RESTED
Wolves let the Warriors off the hook by taking a bunch of bad shots in the final 6 minutes. Partly good defense, mostly bad decision-making by Rubio, Wiggins, LaVine.
YES JUST GOT SIGNED
MDN RETURNS TO THE “Q” ON WED—-WILL HE BE THE NEXT EX CAV TO BE A ” CAV KILLER ” ?
He plays for the Bucks??
who won the nug compe

The Herculoids are rallying GSW. 8-0 run to close the third quarter and tie the game.
McRae looks like he might have the makings of a combo guard. Some nice passing in these highlights from his first NBA game.

Pretty sure you could say this about most playoff teams… but okay…

His job is to figure out ways to win when we don’t make shots.
CHARLOTTE BEATS THE SPURS—TIMBERWOLVES HANGING TOUGH WITH THE DUBS ( BOTH SPURS / DUBS HAVING LET DOWNS FROM THE OTHER NIGHT ? )
Yep, I think that loss needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
But still…blowing a 28-7 lead. You know Pop ain’t happy.
Pop is never happy, that and his coaching acumen is why he wins titles
Imagine if Kyrie and Love were replaced by Delly and Frye in the starting line up? What would be repercussions? Would we then have the best bench in the league?
It would certainly be the mopiest bench in the league… especially with Mo already there…
Yea. At the moment, I don’t think our best lineup includes Kyrie or Love.
MAN IF WE CAN GET THE ” CONSISTENT —GOOD BEAR–GOOD BEAR–MOZ ” BACK THAT WOULD BE HUGE —MAYBE ANOTHER BREW GARDEN COMMERCIAL IS IN ORDER ——–MAN TONIGHT JUST FEELS RIGHT ( LIKE LAST YEAR WHEN THE CAVS WERE KICKING BUTT ON THE FLOOR AND WE WERE KICKING BUTT ON THE BLOG )—-NEED TO GET BACK TO THAT ON A DAILY / GAME BASIS

We will need Mozzy the next 3 games. Bucks ALWAYS gives us fits! So MANY BIGS . All we need him to do is just disrupt them and get some rebounds. Just enough to get TT going when he comes in.
Second quarter was a mess. Their BIGS was a factor. Bringing back Mozzy to battle tem & having Kyrie on some ice helped a lot. Giving Lue credit here. It’s only fair.
38 assists… season high!

I am going cross-eyed trying to count if that is actually 38 dimes
It’s probably not… but it’s close…
It’s like 50 dimes, so it includes fouls.
Okay… how about a ’38 dime?

Impressive
I hope LBJ unfollows someone before every game…
I can’t believe you are still thinking about that. lol
You know me… ;)

Yes ROFL
I hope he unfollows Pat Riley…
Yes this helped some of the saltiness from last game.
CAVS. They have outscored their opponents over the last two games by an average of 6 points.
Defense really is the “key” to Cavs engine.
” JIM CROCE ” DON’T PEE INTO THE WIND “———NURKIK ” DON’T SMILE/ LAUGH AT LEBRON “
Hornets beat the Spurs tonight despite trailing 28-7 after the first quarter.
We need a cool Central Champ pic on here
From last year… but best I could find on short notice…
Ok LoL We’ll go with it!!
I miss the innocence of last year
Holy shumping beans batman!
And the CAVS WIN THE PENNANT! (okay… it’s just another Central Division crown… but will take any positives we can get)
https://twitter.com/cavs/status/712086249515958272
Oh I’ll cherish that “another” Shoot, no one here but the dog. ‘I drink alone” like that ole song
Already?? We are Central Division Champs!!! WOW
38 assists on 48 field goals, now that is progress.
McRae rocking it to Shump!
I knew Shump was going to do a high flying dunk.. Glad he didn’t break wrist
