Live Thread: Cavs @ Raptors, Game 6 (#InTheSix)
2016-05-27For the most part, home court advantage in the NBA doesn’t always translate into an edge in a series, usually due to the disparity in talent between the two combatants. Oddly though, home court seems to have become some sort of odd psychological advantage in this year’s Eastern Conference Finals. On paper, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the superior team to the Toronto Raptors, and in the friendly confines of the Q, that has bourn out with the Cavs winning games by margins of 31, 19 and 38 points. Yet, the Raptors have almost inexplicably turned the tables in the Six (Toronto’s Drake dubbed nickname derived from their two area codes 416 and 647) at the Air Canada Center, winning by 15 in Game 3 and six in Game 4 (not to mention taking both games in the regular season here).
It’s enough to make you wonder how things would play out on a neutral floor. Does each team really get that much of a confidence boost from playing in front of their home fans? Well, we could possibly get closer to an answer to that question tonight in a potential closeout game for the Cavs. If the King and his court can take care of Kyle, DeMar and the Biz in front of the Jurassic Park faithful, they can buy themselves a few extra days of rest for LeBron’s sixth straight trip to The Finals. If not, there will be a Game 7 in Cleveland on Sunday.
Six Things To Watch For:
1) Will we see the “vintage LeBron” Tyronn Lue has asked for going into this game?
2) Which Kevin Love will show up? The one who disappeared in Games 3 & 4, going 5-23… or the one who went 8-10 for 25 points in Game 5?
3) Will Kyrie keep the offense moving? Or will he dribble himself into trouble?
4) Will Jonas Valanciunas make a difference? Or is Toronto better off going with the defense of Bismack Biyombo?
5) Can the Cavs limit Toronto’s back court with their trapping ways? Or will Lowry and DeRozan get loose and rediscover their hot shooting?
6) Can the Cavs take the crowd out of it quickly? Or will the Raptors feed off their energy to force a Game 7?
Game time is at 8:30 EST (5:30 PST), and can be seen on ESPN or heard on WTAM 1100.
Prediction: LeBron has faced a Game 6 (with his team up 3-2) nine times in his playoff career… his record is 8-1 (the loss being in 2006 to the Pistons). The Raptors are 7-2 at home in the playoffs this year. Expect a hard fought game with the Cavs finally prevailing in the end by… well, let’s say six… 106-100, to finally emerge victorious in the Six.
LET’S GO CAVS!
And just for a little bonus motivation… here’s a brand new hype video from Geo! (wonder if he’s 6?)
Demarre Carroll looking like “I switched teams for this?”
I think our 3point shooting is regressing to mean again. Awesum!

The ballgame!?
Kyrie is making some great moves late…
James Jones 6 straight Finals.
Per Basketball-Reference.com, this is Cleveland’s fifth playoff game with 16-plus 3s. No other team has hit so many more than twice in a postseason.
Check out Frye after the block on Biyombo. Yes, that is a finger wag!

the Crowd is quiettttt all you hearing is ‘defense”

Lolol!
I was saving that one… ;)
Tooo funny
I like this so much better – Lebron goes to the bench and the lead spikes up.
Could hear the air just get knocked out of the crowd after those last two Kyrie buckets… This one is over
Damn Kyrie can put it in the hoop
Frye>>Biyombo
I wish KLove would have wagged his finger at Biyombo after that stuff!
Wish sorta-granted.

JR SWISH FROM MISSISAUGA!!!
JR from deep in the Centre!
Red Hook ESB.
Once again bizmack smacks love on the shot…then elbows him in the neck on the rebound…play on lol
Kyrie with his playoff high in assists…in a a game where he had as bad a quarter’s worth of play as a point guard can possibly have.
This is hilarious?ig_cache_key=MTI1OTgyNzUyNzkzODE2MzQ3OQ%3D%3D.2
Good timeout by Lue… give the guys a breather for the stretch…
LeBron called that TO. He walked right over
Good catch…
Love doesn’t get a lot of calls inside…
It’s really noticeable… although I feel like he gets more calls when he backs down and turns around instead of driving…
Great pass from Kyrie to LBJ!

Don’t know how Lowry is hitting these…
I’ve always respected Lowry’s competitive spirit.. He’s a gamer
Except games 1,2 and 5
It’s kinda meh. Give me Rolle Bolle.
The old opera cliche (.for Ben). It isn’t over until, the fat lady sings, but she is warming up
Whelp. Time to crack more beers? Onto a fat tire.
Gross.
It’s not a bad beer. Just too mainstream for you.
Nice 6-0 to extend the lead to 16
lebron gonna get to 30 tonight,
Absolutely love the way the Cavs are crashing the boards and going after this one…
Hated the early subs but Kyrie and kevin immediately made an impact
This team is stacked. LeBron is a great GM
Smart by Lue to bring in some firepower.
Lebron has been awesome but he has to hit those FT’s next round.
I like aggressive Lebron to start the 4th.. He will make sure we close this out
https://vine.co/v/i9VeWlHDiDl
Why the hell is Lue subbing those guys out?! We were playing well…
\_(ツ)_/¯
Wombat on the give and go!
KLove with the floorburns!!
Big time hustle points on that play.
Early check back for Kyrie and Love…
Lowry just gonna try and win it himself…
But LBJ not having it…
Delly finally hit a shot
EVERYTHING is awesome
Raps defending horns set better, but Delly gets a layup
https://vine.co/v/i9VOJuKn7Lg
Great broken give and go with LBJ and Delly!
And the one that didn’t count
https://vine.co/v/i9VhVUww0zd
It took 5 three point possessions in a row just to get it to 12.
And they were all
Contested.
Great quarter by Cavs.
Kyrie’s shot that counted…

Need a little more JR on offense. He’s been open plenty.
It’s the beginning of the 4th and my CtB shows only 7 comments. It’s been like that for weeks. What’s up?
368 comments u dog
I was having that problem the other night, it was weird…no comments in Opera on PC, but they were showing up on my phone…then it fixed itself. That’s the only time I’ve seen that happen.
It does that to me very game, most of the game, on two separate phones & trying two different Web browsers. I always have to end up reading these after the game’s already over.

Up 12. Everything is Awesome!!!!!!
Gave up 33 points in that quarter. Not exactly championship hunger…
Too many minutes for Lebron so far ..and way too many points allowed in the 3rd
Kyrie’s shot didn’t count, but it was a demoralizer!
Lead shrinks from 21 to 12 at the end of the third…
That Kyrie heave would have been number one on SC for a year if it had counted…
https://vine.co/v/i9VhVUww0zd
Curry-esque. But won’t receive the coverage.
If Lowry is destroying Kyrie like this what would happen against Curry or Russell next round.
The same stuff. It’s not news though. We’ll just have to up the ante. We did last year
Well, hopefully we get to find out…
Dumb play by TT there…but I like his energy this quarter
how can you foul an off balance player heaving a desperation three…
Damn! I wish that counted!
No one has ever fouled less hard at the end of a quarter. Lowry just throws himself around and gets calls. He’s James harden light
Exactly but I believe that Coach Lue has to let the refs know about it so that the refs stop calling those fouls.
Really? He just threw himself into Thompson
Yeah, I like Lowry, but not a fan of all of his flopping
That last call was just stupid…
Lowry going thermonuclear to keep the Raptors in range.
Great save by Kyrie!
BIG hoop by Kyrie at the end of a bad possession.
And fouled. Hit in the head from behind. If they don’t call it it will get worse. This is like the regular season game where Lowry shot 500 free throws on a bunch of touch fouls
