Live Thread: Cavs @ Knicks
2021-11-07Good evening CtB!
The Cavs are in the Big Apple tonight, taking on the New York Knicks at the hallowed grounds of Madison Square Garden. The Cavs come into the contest with a three game winning streak and a winning record, while the Knicks fight for Eastern Conference supremacy. The Cavs will have their hands full trying to make it four in a row.
According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, Isaac “Ice” Okoro will be missing tonight’s game with the nagging hamstring injury, although there’s some indication that a return is imminent. Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen remain in the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols. The Knicks will be missing their starting point guard Kemba Walker due to load management.
One of the keys to the game will be how the bench units fare against each other. The Knicks have one of the best producing benches in the NBA, while the Cavs’ J.B. Bickerstaff has been very lean with his usage of the bench. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00pm ET, and will be broadcasted on Bally’s Sports Ohio/Great Lakes. GO CAVS!
in terms of rookie impact on team play.. thus far, big mobes is off the charts.. far surpassing the rest of the class, including barnes.. and just mocking the #1 & 2 picks (1-8 records as of yesterday),, but thank the heavens that they existed to provide the sirens that seduced DET & HOU..
can’t believe I am agreeing with buck on everything
when the worm turns raoul bro, so do i.. i am a trend follower
Baker and Chubb 2 TD’s each, defense picks and sacks. Browns win. Mobley another breakout game, Cavs win.
Good day :)
The most insane stat from the browns game….Chubb 137 yards on….14 carries. Even without the 70 yard run he is still over 5 yards per attempt. Dude needs more carries. Pretty certain if he got the same number of attempts (and stayed healthy for a full 16 games as a caveat) as Henry he could have a 2000 yard rushing season. Health would be the major factor.
I can’t help but feel they are managing his usage, as Hunt is not there to spell him. They also only ran 46 plays in total–a 50/50 split of the run and pass. I like that they let Baker throw when the Bengals stacked the box. This game reminded me of last year, when Tennessee did the same thing and got lit up.
For sure they’re managing. Hard to argue against splitting the load when Chubb is in and in that type of game no reason to run chubb into the ground. Can’t help but think they could have rode him a bit more against the steelers. 16 attempts that game. Granted nowhere near as efficient.
Also I love chubb press conferences. Asked about what he saw during the 70 yard run and after he got past the first wave whether he knew or thought he could take it all the way. “Ah you never know, that’s a great defense over there, bunch of guys flying around, it was pretty wide open, great blocking up front.” And move on to next question lol.
Chubb is a guy you can get behind without thinking much–humble through and through although he is blessed with such God-given talent.
Have you guys seen Chubbs mic’d up videos?!? Lol!!! Its the best.
I don’t think he was fully ready last week
GREAT WIN —–GREAT WEEKEND —BUCKS/ BROWNS / CAVS —-ONLY BUMMER I MISSED “TACKO TIME ‘ :-( —–JUST A GREAT TEAM WIN —–JUST SIGN RUBIO TO AN EXTENSION RIGHT NOW// HE SEEMS TO ENJOY PLAYING HERE —WHAT A NIGHT ” ICE COLD XMAS ALE // SPENDING TIME WITH MY ‘CTB BROS ” / WATCHING A GREAT CAVS WIN AND THE MRS NOMAD WAS SOO EXCITED WATCHING THE GAME IT ‘PUT HER IN THE MOOD ” —-GOOD NIGHT GUYS ” I AM HEADED INTO “O.T. ” :-)
Rubio already has an old man game. Had an old man game. Nash was good well into his 30s. I guess maybe. I’d be ok with 2 years if he keeps playing like this.
NOMAD reminds me of when I was a kid!
Is this team legit? Or is this an early season fluke? The defense seems real, Mobley looks the deal, Rubio just continues his Olympic dominance, Garland has taken another step up, Sexton is as toxic as ever, Allen is worth every penny so far, even Cedi has finally found his role.
At the very least, this shapes to be a very entertaining season.
I think they are legit pretty good (unless they get torpedoed by injuries again), pretty good meaning they have an outside chance to finish near .500. I had them at 30 wins before the season, and, needless to say, I feel pretty good about that, but Mobley has been way better way faster than I expected.
If he stays a +player as a rookie, that’s a significant addition.
bet you a buck they finish over .500
They did this without their starting 3, two big bench players and their starting 2 in the second half. What we saw isn’t sustainable without those guys, but I love gutting out wins against possible playoff teams by relying on your stars and depth. Yes, Mobley is already a star–mad love for Houston and Detroit right now.
There was a sreak earlier this year where we had double digit lead for five (or six?) consecutive games. That is a good sign. If you are constantly getting big leads, you are gonna win some.
Also wtf rubio? Best shooting game in his career, like by far. Never saw that coming.
Is this team just legit good? Not great, not damn good, but just above average low playoff seed good?
with Rubio and Mobley, anything is possible!!!
Dean Wade 3 steals????!!!! +8 in 27 minutes!!!
Some more good news…8 of the next 9 games at home!
including two in a row against Boston. I don’t recall that happening in the regular season before.
Sexton 13 minutes….
Injured at halftime
ah ok
Cavs outrebounded them 48-32…refreshing…
Denzel Valentine with the gentleman’s performance of 1-1 shooting, ending the game with 2 points.
Great performance by the team.
Long way from that 40 point beat down in preseason.
