Live Thread: Cavs @ Trail Blazers
2022-01-07Good evening CtB!
It’s Friday night, and the Cavs have trekked across the country to the rain-drenched Pacific Northwest to take on the hobbled and desperate Portland Trail Blazers. This is a classic “trap” game for the Cavs, who are heavily favored against a struggling Blazers’ team. However, the Blazers still have a winning record at home this season (12-10). Their struggles have mainly been on the road. If the Cavs think they can sleepwalk their way through this game, they’ll have another thing coming. Fortunately, the character of the Cavs has been to play tough no matter the circumstances.
In a bit of good news, Cedi Osman, Dylan Windler, and Rajon Rondo are all projected to be available to play this game. The only absence outside of the obvious is Isaac Okoro. The Trail Blazers are without their dynamic back court duo, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. The Blazers will also be missing former Cavalier and hometown son Larry Nance, Jr. One of the blessings in disguise for the Blazers with all of the injuries has been the emergence of Anfernee Simons, their prized guard from the 2018 NBA draft. He’s stepped up in the absence of Dame and will obviously be looking to make a statement against his matchup and contemporary, Darius Garland.
As for the game itself, the contrast between the two teams stands out on the defensive end of the court. By defensive rating, the Cavs are a top 3 defense in the NBA, while Portland is the worst defense in the NBA. Off the court, Portland’s offseason (and current season) was an unmitigated disaster with the hiring of Chauncey Billups as well as the subsequent firing of the guy who hired Billups, Neil Olshey. The looming question hanging around the Portland franchise is whether they tear it down and trade Dame and CJ, as well as who Jody Allen chooses to replace Olshey with. A truly sad ending to one of the more fun Western Conference competitors of recent memory.
Tip off is scheduled for 10:00PM ET, and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, GO CAVS!
D.G. TURNING INTO A “DAWG “—LOVE IT !!1—–RONDO > THAN GOODWIN// PANGOS PUT TOGETHER
I WILL TAKE THOSE KIND OF MIN’S EVERYNIGHT FROM RONDO—-WIND(K)LER —2ND DECENT GAME IN / ROW // KEEEP GIVING HIM MIN’S J.B.// WE NEED TO IMPROVE OUR FOUL SHOOTING// OFF REB’S// AND GIVING UP 2ND CHANCE POINTS TO OTHER TEAM—THIS GAME COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH EASIER// PUT AWAY SOONER IF WE DO THOSE ‘LITTLE ‘ THINGS —-GOOD WIN// GO CAVS !!
good win albeit against short handed opponent. Cavs let it get close a few times but then pulled away for good for another double digit win. Think this team can handle some adversity but it’ll be a test against Warriors on Sunday to see where Cavs truly stand. The Grizz are hot team and Cavs didn’t have any answers at end, but they’ll get there. GO CAVS!
If you get the chance, check out the jump pass by DG to Lauri with 3:12 left in the 4th. Shot failed, but my goodness the moves DG has. This kid is something else.
I AM UP AND WATCHING THE GAME—-SNEAKED AND SAW THAT THE CAVS WON—–WILL MAKE WATCHING EVEN MORE ENJOYABLE——–BEER ON MY RICE CRISPIES—” SNAP–CRACKLE AND BURP ” :-)
rise and shine NOMAD bro.. the hops are calling..
For anyone who cares, This is the first time Mobley changed shoe colorway this whole season.
hell yeah drop the name of the shoe if you know it if you ever get a chance, was wondering what shoe he and DG were wearing.
Well we got the one we should have gotten, though it was not pretty for a while.
At GSW for Klay’s return next. Big one. Hopefully Steph’s slump will continue.
Any word on Windler?
I. Love This. Team.
Good start to a hard ass road trip. Hell yeah!
you bet!
Goodnight Portland!
Portland plays mentally weak.
All due respect Chris…they nearly beat us without 2 all stars. What about that performance was mentally weak? I was feeling the same way about the cavs…they let Nurkic bully them all game
Cavs covered the line easily and won by 13… that’s a blowout in the NBA.
Simons frankly been playing better than Dame recently, they rode Nurk and wore him down methodically… yeah they’re missing bodies but the Cavs are missing Rubio, Okoro, and Sexton.
Nurk clearly couldn’t hang with JA, Mobley, and Lauri in the fourth quarter.
Lol. Nurk with a pity dunk.
Crowd with bronx cheers. Lol.
Eat a d**k, Chauncey f**kups.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HELL YEAH
HaHa (lol!)
