Live Thread: Cavs @ Warriors
2022-01-09Good evening CtB!
The Cavs continue on their West Coast swing of their road trip traveling down Interstate 5 to the Bay Area to take on the Cavs’ arch-rival, the Golden State Warriors. Steph Curry and Draymond Green sat out their last game, which just goes to show the energy they’re putting into this matchup with the Cavs. They’ve also tabbed this game as the debut of Klay Thompson after a multi-year absence. The young Cavs should be honored that the Warriors are pulling out all the stops tonight to try and eek out a win.
The Cavs are healthy with the exception of the obvious guys… Okoro’s still out. The Warriors are only missing James Wiseman. As for the game on the court, this is a massive matchup of top five defenses. Which defense will impose their will on the game? I’ll take Tower City every time.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:30PM ET, and the game will be nationally televised on NBATV… GO CAVS!!! And never forget…
Beavis!
Hey, just posted a recap, preview, and live thread trifecta LMFAO

D.G. POSSIBLY OUT TONIGHT —-BACK INJURY—MIGHT BE PRECAUIONARY ON CAVS PART
TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR // OUR DISAAPOINTMENT LEO—-BUT “DITTO ‘ WHAT SIMMO SAID— REALLY NAILED IT ON WHY // HOW THE CAVS PLAYED —-MOST OF OUR PLAYERS ARE STILL IN THAT ” GROWTH ” PERIOD —LAST NIGHTS GAME WAS ONE OF THOSE ” GROWING PAIN GAMES ” –WE WILL HAVE MORE OF THEM —ALMOST HAVE TO HAVE THEM IN ORDER TO GROW ——–YOU DO HAVE TO GIVE KUDOS TO THE ENVIRONMENT THE DUBS HAVE CREATED—EVEN WIGGINS LOOKED LIKE AN NBA PLAYER LAST NIGHT
when Lamar Stevens is your leading scorer and based on highlights looked like the only guy to give a shit – this is what happens. Sure the Warriors are really good and they were hyped with Klay coming back, but the theme remains the same – they hustled and played hard and we didnt. Garland with 9 points in 33 minutes is inexcusable…all the 7 footers averaging 9/game last night – inexcusable. BIG lesson learned for this young squad. Maybe fortunate for them the top tier in East is Milwaukee and BKN, Cavs have better opportunity. But man team needs… Read more »
I would couch it this way: Lamar was the only one who played his natural game. Props to (bench player) KLove in the 2nd & 3rd for trying hard when he saw no teammate was able to grab a rebound. I commented midway in the game that this environment is EXACTLY what the team needed in order to learn. Bright lights, a fully healthy opposition with a good track record. Cavs have caught a lot of teams on the downstroke this season. To grow beyond what they are, they need this. While not quite a marquee matchup, the Cavs with… Read more »
Right on Simmo! The warriors ( as much as it pains me to say) are likely the best team in the NBA, certainly one of the best team cultures and with Thompson’s return completely focused on winning his first game back. The young kids ran into a buzz saw last night and still held the warriors under 100. They’re also, statistically, the best defense in the NBA. DG definitely got schooled as did JA ( I think he was also exhausted from Nurkic pounding on him the previous game). Great experience for all. How our expectations have changed! At the… Read more »
yah i’m not losing sleep over this but it was huge wake up to reality for this team and it was going to come sooner than later. good news if the cavs stay competitive in their own coference which it appears they are still doing, the west coast stuff won’t be big deal in grand scheme. this team is still young and raw and has little experience in big game moments. hopefully this doesn’t rattle them so much they spiral, but i don’t think it will.
westbrook 2-12 for 6 pts in 26 min.. lakers getting rolled by ja & co.. ROFLMAO.. poor russ.. folks always need to remember one of the better lines in film history.. ” a man’s got to understand his limitations”.. cavs again the beneficiary of NBA front office idiocy (HOU, DET and now LAL).. rondo shake and baking for 15 tonight.. perfectly entertaining.. LBJ gonna need some strong meds for the blood presssure.. putting up 35 in another exercise in futility (and stupidity) by the lakers
Cavs held GSW to 40% shooting and 23% from three and lost by double digits… Mobley, DG, Rondo, Love all turnover machines.
In Mobley’s defense, he got fouled a lot and it wasn’t called.
Kev sucked.
Would’ve liked to see a much better result but I’m not going to over react to this one for a handful of reasons: – played our worst game of the year. Clean up turn overs and rebounding and Cavs would’ve won by 10 – even while playing totally out of sorts, was about a 10 point game to a top tier NBA team – warriors still blew that 3-1 lead – warriors are just about unbeatable at home this year – the whole klay thing had the warriors playing top playoff level basketball. This was a good litmus test for… Read more »
I don’t think we can really grade JB’s minutes decisions until we see what happens tonight. I would assume that there was something of a plan on how to balance playing time across the back-to-back games. So perhaps Wade gets a lot of run tonight, KLove gets a bit more, etc.
good point. don’t want to come out 0-2 for NoCal
The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead!!! Forever!!! Draymond sucks
THATS RIGHT RJ!!!
YAAAASSS!!!
WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
Cavs looked like they had never practiced on offense. Zero Dean Wade mins and only 14 for Klove??? Wonder why our bigs couldnt rebound JB? Another horrific effort from the coach. He seems less and less willing to take control of mins and clock stoppages.
Kept GSW under 100…
See you all tomorrow in Sacramento. Go Cavs
Garland looks hurt not good.
Hopefully just tired as shit.
Refs finally admitted that Curry traveled, after an obvious travel…
If there’s a positive Stevens has been a beast on both sides of the floor
And Rondo had some solid minutes
DG WHAT ARE YOU DOING
Oh Jesus DG you have been awful
I challenge this.
these refs are trash
17 boards for Looney…ridiculous…
