Playoff Live Thread: Cavs vs Pacers, Game 2, #HeroBall

After surviving game 1, the Cavs look to clean up some of the unforced errors that prevented them from cruising to a comfortable victory. Coach Lue mentioned that the initial half-court defense was fairly stout (in the second half, perhaps) but that the 50/50 balls were all going to Indiana. While not a must-win for either team, the Cavs as a franchise have apparently (per NBA.com) never lost a playoff series when they started 2-0 (I couldn’t find an example to disprove it).
The best thing for the Cavs is if Paul George really believes in alpha-dog hero ball. I say it a few times in game one, where he killed the Pacers rhythm by hunting for his own shot. The Cavs proven to be a very good team at cutting off the head of the snake in years past. The problem is if Lance Stephenson, Jeff Teague, and Myles Turner get going. I expect someone like Turner to play very well at home, so the Cavs don’t want to mess around to much tonight despite the 1-0 cushion. The Pacers were a much better home team than road team in the regular season.
We’ll see if Shump gets some minutes tonight and the Cavs draw up a few more plays for Kyle Korver in the half court. Follow along with us here!
Man – Love played almost a perfect game.
Outside of his 34 point first quarter game… probably his best game as a Cav…

A playoff win is a win…glad we have the Pacers first round…
Game 3 will be everything for Pacers….looking forward to it….Cavs fix defense and just drive to basket to get Turner and Young in foul trouble, Pacers are toast….great game by Big 3 and awesome offense other than the 5 min stretch in 4th quarter
Playing defense seems to take its toll in the 4th quarter. Cavs have to find more rest to the Big 3 in the the early goings so they have their legs in the 4th.

I do think the Bulls may take the Celtics. Still, despite the TOs & stupid chucking continuing, & JR getting hurt, I feel better about this one. Shump was huge. Love was fantastic. Deron had a good game. Gonna have to be better in Indy.
Can Love get to 4 points per field-goal attempt? 6/7 with 27 points. Needs to be fouled one more time.

Prevent offense
It worked in the Finals, but that was when the Cavs had a much better D and could get stops…
In the finals we used ISO but players were moving through screens and getting switches creating ISO mismatches where the prevent offense is just everyone stands around for 18 secs and then someone hucks up a terrible shot….6 minutes is way too much time in the NBA to start trying to milk the clock in lieu of getting good shots…
