Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers
2018-04-06Cleveland heads to Philly with the No. 3 seed basically on the line. Of course Philly is without Joel Embiid after he broke his orbital bone, but Embiid did just clear the NBA concussion protocol. For the Cavs, they’re thin at the point guard spot, with Hill convalescing due to his ankle sprain, and Calderon out due to hamstring tightness.
My guess? The Cavs run the same starters they did last night, with Cedi starting out on Reddick in the Cavs’ “switch everything” defense (of course, Kyle Korver would look good there too). Hopefully, Kevin Love looks to be aggressive and isn’t as passive as he was in the second half last night and attacks Amir at the line and in the post. The Sixers will run their own unconventional lineup of Simmons, Reddick, Saric, Covington, and Amir Johnson.
Off the bench, Markelle Fultz isn’t looking too shabby with a solid floor game of 13 points, seven dimes, and seven assists per 36 minutes. Of course, he’s shooting just 38% from the field, so limiting him to being a “scorer” is a win. The Philly bench energy will be a factor again tonight, and will hound Jordan Clarkson when LeBron’s off the floor. Bellinelli bring outside shooting off the pine, and Richaun Holmes and McConnell bring energy. Matching that energy and closing out shooters will be key. Not so optimistic about that last part.
Prediction: playoff nerves limit the Sixers’ shooting from the outside, and the Cavs win a squeaker: 115-112.
I see the moronic snarky “I THOUGHT YOU SAID GREEN WAS A TERRIBLE THREE POINT SHOOTER” comments on some other forums. He hit them tonight, but it’s not exactly a secret. He’s almost the worst in the league since Christmas. Stupid people are tiresome.
It’s like the people who think global warming isn’t real because it still gets cold.
IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN SAID —-“PLAYERS TAKE ON THE PERSONALITY OF THEIR COACH “——WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT —-SIT BACK / STOIC STARE / UNRESPONSIVE —–WHILE WE ARE GETTING OUR BUTTS KICKED —-GO HAVE A SHIRLEY TEMPLE TY ——–TY JUST GO DO WHAT YOU DO BEST—BREAK DOWN FILM—TURN THE KEYS OVER TO DREW —-GOODNIGHT—GRANDKIDS WILL BE UP EARLY WITH HIGH OCTANE —WISH ME LUCK !!!!
THANK YOU SAM—–THE PAST MONTH OR SO—AMICO WHO HAS ALWAYS GONE OUT OF HIS WAY TO SUPPORT TY —-EVEN HE IS HAVING DOUBTS WITH TY’S COACHING ABALITIES —WHO THE PLAYERS REALLY WANT TO PLAY FOR
I LIKE CEDI — BUT HE AND KLOVE PLAYED THE SAME AMOUNT OF MINUTES AND HE HAD MORE SHOTS THAN LOVE—-CLARKSON ABOUT 1/2 THE MINUTES OF LOVE BUT ALMOST THE SAME AMOUNT OF SHOTS—-THAT ALSO FALLS BACK TO COACHING —–EXPLAINING / TEACHING / ADJUSTING / DESIGNING PLAYS TO GET THE SHOTS FOR YOUR SCORER (S)
Come on, man. You can’t tell cedi to pass up wide open threes if you’re not asking Jeff Green to. He missed. They lost. He was great outside of the shooting.
your last sentence is the problem, he can’t shoot, basically Delly but taller, have to hit wide open shots in NBA, he’ll learn, but dude let 10 points go away in crunch time cause he can’t shoot, hustle and energy only go so far
Agree somewhat. Especially on the first one. Bron was killing Belinelli on the switch, so Philly doubled, kick to Cedi for open 3. Miss. Fine.
The second time down, you have to be aware the switch is on, so you use Love as the pick man, not Cedi. Live with Bron driving vs whomever is on Love or an open Love 3. Better % play.
Plus, two games in a row with Love only getting 10 shots a game, despite being wet from deep early both games. Top tier point guards (CP3) or coaches would not let that happen.
